makes the spots stand out, if I make it too dark then you can't see the smile etc either plus I dunno the proper colour code for the head. I tried using paint to colour pick mine but I forgot you can't take the pointer off the comp screen and I don't fancy looking at *****

The VPN Just makes it 24/7 he worked it out at like 150 quid every 6 months i think

In all honesty i took a total guess on how much it was, i just remember him posting it and i thought it was in the 100's :P

No you have LIED to me I can never forgive you but yeah the most expensive one there would be like £150 a year, not sure how many people use that server but if there were 10 paying that's only about £1.25 a month and with it already being one that people can't build/grief on without us knowing them we'd make a pretty decent community out of it. Down to Dan in the end I guess but a couple of quid a month I don't mind paying, rather it goes toward a 24/7 server than Oxfam or something

The reason it is £150 every 6 months is because we have high RAM requirements.

If we can get a list of anyone who is willing to contribute then this shouldn't be hard to do.

Yes, this is the right way to go about this. Without some kind of info on the amount of people willing to donate and how much then I can be more sure it won't be abandoned, leaving me with a high bill to pay.

Also we seem to have almost sorted all the server plugins so it shouldn't need so much maintanence anymore in the near future.

The minimum amount of RAM for a minecraft server is 1024mb (1gb), and the 1024 plan which flyingjesus mentioned looks do-able, although i'd want to research the company's past a bit and find where the server is located.

Hey get out, that was because of stupidly annoying griefers. If i can get enough ops to have atleast someone on 99% of the time then i probably wouldnt have that issue, and if its a VPS then that'll be much easier since people wont be guessing when its on.

I think the only Biomes that he's putting into place are just terrain and maybe certain simple weather conditions. No organisms or anything too complex I don't think.

I think all he did was follow directions on how it's made in a book and then copy it onto redstone sim and then put it into minecraft. The book he recommends I bet there's a huge picture diagram of how to make it or something lol

Once it's in redstone sim it's actually not that difficult...

Step 1) Write it into RedStone Sim - Depends, months maybe?
Step 2) Clear the area in MCEdit - 5 Seconds
Step 3) Run the redstone sim import - 5 minutes, no hard labour
Step 4) Start up minecraft and give everyone a nerdgasm

Then make them bricks manually... or find out the specifc ID for bricks.
You gotta ask Stuto if you want to build though.

I've started a new singleplayer and I'm digging a shaft to the bottom and glassing in any caves. I'm really close to the water and hit heaps of underwater caverns. :D I also JUST started my farm and it looks great and doesn't take up too much space. If people are interested I might get some screenies up. ;)

Well, the /eb replacement has many new features. These new features will be very useful for all players.

I am also testing out an idea on how to get the backup system much faster.
This will allow backups every 10 minutes and the backups will be safe in the event that Dan's computer gets eaten by 3 extremely hairy antelopes with tattoos.

Okay, the new backup is looking good.
Does everyone feel it is reasonable to have backups work as follows...

Every 10 minutes the map will backup any changes to previously backed up chunks.
Every 90 minutes a full backup will backup the whole map.

The reason behind this is because it is much faster to backup existing chunks than new ones.
To backup new ones I have to search the whole map and add new ones to the backup (this is slow).

New chunks are only created when you go exploring to places that nobody has ever been to before.
Normally people will not build in a new chunk anyway.
