PSP is alot better due to the things smurf said..
I have got 100's of apps on my psp and loads of emulators..
and i can get ANY PSP game i want for free using the UMD emulator and downloading game .ISO's from sites :)
The only problem is Humma has stoppped dev'ing the PSP so all teh new games with the 2.0 coding wont work.. We were all depending on him to crack the coding :@ and make a UMD emulator for firmware 2.0.

Whether or not you get caught doesn't matter, it's still against the law. It isn't petty crime either, its pirating and breach of copyright.

Mike, downloading ROMs is one thing (I don't really get why you'd want to to be honest), but PSP games is another. That's serious theft, you're illegally downloading something a company should currently be earning money on.

It's things like this that really annoy me. If you're downloading games, a developer somewhere isn't getting any money. This is the kind of thing that kills innovation. Developers are scared to try new things and stick to the same old generic games because they know it will make money.

Preferring a console because it's hackable is a very poor reason to do so.

Having the emualtor on my PSP is NOT illegal, however if i 'HAD' roms on my psp that would, but either way most things are illegal now a days.

For ALL THOSE that said it's illegal, having the emulators arn't illegal but roms are.

Though Sony HATE the fact that we are running our applications and emualtors as such, they'll probably make running any homebrew illegal, DAMN SONY
not if it makes the psp more popular

not me i just sit at home in a straight jacket
oh and btw ds's films r way cheaper after bying the runner thing £15 you only have 2 buy a memory cars way cheaper than memory stiks

Preferring a console because it's hackable is a very poor reason to do so.

So your telling me you'll happily pay for games when you can get them just as easy for free, also 60 % of people illegal download music.

Plus, If they should stop anyone they should stop the illegal site that have games for free (Hopefully they shouldn't from my point of view)

Anyways, You probably would if you had the chance, but most of psp owners updated to 2.5 HAHA

Bear-Max
30-10-2005, 01:11 PM
Yes, I am happy to pay for games, despite these illegal sites.

I don't have 2.5, because I have no way of getting it. It's not even out in the UK yet. I have 2.0, so if I wanted to downgrade, I could.

If I wanted to play GBA games, I'd use my GBA.

Piracy kills innovation. Funnily enough, I like innovation; I like new things being tried in the games industry. I don't like the "lazy update" trend in games that is becoming ever more familiar. EA are one of the biggest culprits, a new, barely changed FIFA every year.

smurf-you
30-10-2005, 01:23 PM
2.1 is released in the U.K, that is proving a hard time to crack :(

The GBA emualtor has just REALLY came out, before it was SOO slow, but now it's running okish, next version 1.3 will be out soon.

Also, us hackers can do so much more with just a psp, new apps are out every day, new programs loads of stuff, i just busted Windows 95 on my psp, it's pretty funny.

With Football games you can't expand it much more, but since they've tried fifa street (A new version out soon for PSP) Football manager they've tried about everything you can do with football.

Just need to keep your eyes pealed, theres a lot more then you think.

If you've seen all the games made you will see how hard it is for new ideas to be made into games

It's not hard, but it's a risk. Innovative games need all the sales they can get to cover the costs of the game, and when people are illegally downloading it those costs aren't being covered. It's why so many games developers go bust.

And Konami manage to rebuild Pro Evolution with every release of it, unlike EA who tack on a cheap gimmick to FIFA and claim it's going to revolutionise the gameplay.

The fact is people will always be downloading illegally, people will always find new ways to make there PSP better, new emualtors will be out on PSP (including PS1 soon.... problem with R2-L2) Most companys when making games don't come out with a fair profit anyway.

Look at the XBOX, Microsoft lost 4 billion pound and there planning to lose more on the 360.

It's just the way the world runs, Most of us will carry on doing what we do, and i myself will.

It's just if you know how to, then do it.

The world is as good as it gets, safe your money and help world poverty

Actually Micrsoft are down $4 billion, not £4 billion :P

But that's nothing to do with piracy, that's just the Xbox being sold for less than it costs to make. Microsoft did it because they can, and to win market share. It would have been no good Microsoft making a console that was very good, but to expensive for everyone to buy. Sony work the same way, but to a smaller loss. Nintendo are the only company that make profit on their consoles.

If I wanted Homebrew or Windows on my PSP, I'd find out how and do it. I'm sure it really isn't that hard. However, I want my PSP to be a PSP. Nothing more, nothing less.

I actually have a PSP now and i can say they are much better than DS's, MP3 Player, MP4 Player, Movie Player, game, player, wireless internet!
and what does the DS have a touch screen and it can play games... WOW! (Not)
We also had a massive disscussion about this in school today with our teacher he actually said:
"...Yes nintendo has been around longer, but.. Sony have all the rights to the best games, they also make brilliant consoles, and now, all future movies are going to be coming out on UMD, The DS has nothing going for it except for a touch screen which is probably fun for what, 10 seconds, in my opinion Nintendo is going downhill and the DS in my opinion is a piece of ****..."
And everybody agree'd even the people who have a DS. I think now that they have both come out, we should wait for the sales stats to arrive after christmas to show which was more popular (PSP Obviously) The big disscussion now should be about the XBox 360 and the PS3 but i still would think that the PS3 would be better, becuase they seem to have rushed the xbox, sony are appearing to be the best company for consoles. ;)

Wow a touch screen and a mic BIG DEAL!!!
PSP has, MP3 Player, MP4 Player, Game Player, Wireless internet, A variety of memory cards, BIGGER Variety of games, and you can now also buy albums and films for it. Can the DS do all that no!, Touch screen, Mic, Game Player, The Game gear is probably better than that.

i agree the psp is far better

ds plays films mp3s etc off lik sang and has wirless internet as from 25th november and has more games and mic and touchscreen and also cheaper games

what psp has that ds doesnt
better graphics
variety of memory stiks (isnt tht bad cause ds doesnt even need em)

SO MIKA THE ANSWER TO THAT IS YES

Actually Micrsoft are down $4 billion, not £4 billion :P

Bullsh*t. @ The Games bit, it is quailty not quantity. Like the PS2, I'd rather have one Super Mario Sunshine than Scooby Doo Unleashed, Carribean Syncronised Swan Championships and Nickelodeon's Blue Peter Snowboarding. Also you can play GBA games, and added to DS, thats more than PSP?

Wireless internet? Great, I bet typing is so easy =l. DS: Touch screen, Mic, Game Player. I think you're forgetting wireless 16 player connection, Pictochat, Back catalogue. You might say touch screen, big deal. Couldn't I just say MP4 player, big deal?

A big addition to the DS as it connects all the ds' in the world together for a big gaming system.

After all this rambeling, I'm thinking about buying a DS, I dunno why but I've always loved the old mario games which have brought me to some good times :)
Do you think its a good idea by investing in one?

IT depends what you want it for.

If you wana buy a DS to get the odd great game that comes out once every half year then go for it.

But if you want cosistantly dicient games with an odd great game coming out every year go for the PSP.

And depending on your age if you wana look like a nerd, but dont care what everyone else thinks get a DS. But if you dont wana stand out get a PSP.

If you can put up with the cringingly babyish games which come out (Which are usualy always good, never had a bad mario game) DS is pretty good but ive grown out of it now.

If your going to play with it outside often, DS isnt a good bet especialy if your getting it for Nintendogs, just imagine shouting "lucky" or whatever its called on the bus, not a good Idea.

DS has touch screen which would cost more to make.
Also has an intergrated mic which would cost more to make.

What does psp have?
Buttons?

DS - £99.99
PSP - £179.99

What you said there still doesn't matter.

The PSP technically owns the DS specification wise. The PSP has a 333 MHz Proccessor, where as the DS has 2 dual proccessor adding up to 100ish MHz.

Then you have the UMD drive, which costs money because it uses lasers, then you have the bigger TFT screen, and the more stylish build.

You can't even compare them together. The DS is strictly hands on gaming, where as the PSP is a portable media centre.

Games wise it's your taste so I can't really say. But the PSP games seem better for me as a person

PSP gets my vote.

My only real gripe with the PSP is that there are far too many games that are designed for the home consoles, but released on the PSP anyway because it can handle them.

Controls don't often port to the PSP well, and I'd rather spend my money on a game that was developed specifically for the PSP.

Yeah they were just an excuse for games to make money on the relalise (sp?) Midnight Club 3 was a good example of this, have you seen the loading times! it took like 1 min each time for it to load between races, ruined the game and it was a **** port.

Im sure once the PSP is about a year old almost all the games will be made for PSP, of course there will still be ports, like there is on the DS, hopefully not as bad as MC3

The games that are on the shelves at the monet aren't all that good, I think thats what gives people the impression that the PSP is a waste of money.
The games that are created specifically for the PSP are going to be released in 2006, thats when you'll see and get more action from the PSP.

That's the biggest load of rubbish ever.

"If you wana buy a DS to get the odd great game that comes out once every half year then go for it."

I mean, there's been many great games out recently. Before next February we've got Nintendogs, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Mario Kart DS [Online], Animal Crossing DS and more. What has the PSP released? The only hype is surrounding Liberty City Stories.

"But if you want cosistantly dicient games with an odd great game coming out every year go for the PSP."

Consistently decent? Maybe, but doesn't the same apply for the DS?

"And depending on your age if you wana look like a nerd, but dont care what everyone else thinks get a DS. But if you dont wana stand out get a PSP"

Why the hell would you look like a nerd with a DS rather than a PSP? A lot more people at my school think DS's are cool, and no nerdy people have a DS.

"If you can put up with the cringingly babyish games which come out (Which are usualy always good, never had a bad mario game) DS is pretty good but ive grown out of it now."

I don't see many adult games out for PSP? And how are DS games babyish?

"If your going to play with it outside often, DS isnt a good bet especialy if your getting it for Nintendogs, just imagine shouting "lucky" or whatever its called on the bus, not a good Idea"

Why not? >_>

ok then no1. how long has the DS been out, months and theyve come out with 5 good games, whcih I agree are all good (IMO i dont rate nintendogs that much just not my thing but seems to be selling alot) oh and you also forgot Mario 64, thats alright aswell.

PSP has come out for what about 1/2 months now It already has 2 ledgendary games out there already. Burnout Ledgends had been widley accpeted as posably best arcade racing game out there for handheld. And Lumines seems to be one of the best Puzzle games on handheld for PSP (correct me if im wrong but im sure its PSP exclusive)

And if you look at the games out, ok theyre not ledgendary but theyre all probably well worth your money.

When I had the DS I was constantly disapointed by the level of choise there was, name me a game, worth my £30 outside the ones made by nintendo/the ones you mentioned. Outside Nintendo's own games, choise is limited.

And about the DS nerdy thing, I was taking this from my own experience, of course there may be exeptions, but thats the situation in my school and in my age group.

And about the adult game thing, most games for the PSP are aimed at all the ages, while Mario games tend to be cringingly babyish IMO though they are all great games, I just find that Ive grown out of the simplicity of it and im now looking for something with more of a story line something more "grown up" Im sure you dont get many 20+ year olds going to buy Mario.

Rant over, im sure no matter what I do you'll still argue with me;)

Thats why someone made a program called Fastloader, that reduces it lots and makes it load it a couple seconds.

Most games are fast loading, hence the psp has just came out, i remember when the PS2 came out how **** that was, but most of you don't remember:/
