Read an interesting theory about the question a little bit ago and re-watching series 6 made me think that this could actually be a possibility.
The key point mentioned in this theory is what River Song says on the top of the broadcasting tower in the Wedding of River Song. She's been sending a message out, the doctor needs help. Outside of the bubble their in normal time is turning and she has sent this message out to the end of time, the beginning, all over.
However now the doctor apparently no longer exists so what if the reply the people are sending, the messages coming through looking like solar storms is basically Doctor Who? It would explain why the question is the oldest question if it was sent right back to the beginning of time. It would also mean that River was the weapon to stop the question but actually was also the person who created the question.
Obviously its just a theory but I find it very interesting.
Inseriousity.

The 50th special is to be broadcast in 3D!
I don't know what to think about this. I'll admit I'm not a 3D fan I find it a gimmick. My main worry is costs - I hope that it isn't costing too much as I'd rather most of their budget went to making a great episode, with a great cast - I want an episode to remember. I also expect this will be new 3D and not the old 3D - Basically meaning you won't be able to watch on normal TV's. I'm sure I only know one actual person with a 3D TV so I could be wrong but it seems like most haven't bothered with them.

Same!
Big theory going around the Doctor Who forums that throughout these episodes certain Doctors might appear for seconds like in the back-ground! There was set reports a while back of Someone dressed as the second doctor, Patrick Throughton in his big fury coat in the finale! Also in the episode tonight theres a scene that appears that wasn't shown in the press releases! As the press got a 42 minute episode but the actual timing of the episode is 45 minutes!

They would have to meet. It wouldn't make sense to have Tenant return but not to interact with the doctor. That was one of the interesting things from previous multi doctor stories, how each doctor interacted with the other doctors.
One thing I wonder is which version of Tennant's doctor it will be. As Rose is also returning then this could mean its the half doctor half human. I also hope they write this well. What I don't want, is for Tennant just to be brought back for the sake of it, being the 50th anniversary and wanting to please the fans. Would have been interesting if it wasn't announced but probably too big of a thing to keep hushed.

There's been stunts similar before, thinks breaking. I think it could have been done cheap and made to look good. It's just they went on about him crashing through it and looking good but it didn't look that great in the end. This is coming from someone who isn't keen on too much action all the time. I thought he plane bit was good.
Was an amazing ep, I wasn't that keen on the Christmas Special. The intro of yesterday reminded me of "Blink" and omfg at Clara's book being written by "Amelia Williams" and how she says 11 is the best which on the Melody Malone book was where it was death of Amy and Rory woop =)

Sure, but those will be on episodes where the budget hasn't been used as much. The quantity (And even the quality, for once) of the digital SFX on this episode probably cost quite a bit. From a story telling perspective it wouldn't add very much and whilst only to a minor extent portraying the doctor as non-violent is fairly important.

Obviously whoever wrote the script hasn't got a clue what Habbo is. They probably just googled 'social networking sites' and saw Habbo and put it in. You don't even have pictures of people on Habbo let alone where they work :P I thought the episode was going in a good direction to start with, but I felt it ended abruptly, and the Doctor just solved it out of nowhere really. I felt it would have been better as a two-parter. And why did he need to drive some motorcycle up the shard? Why not just use the Tardis?

A two-parter would drag on a bit in my opinion (The two-part moon one got real stale for that reason in my opinion).
Why not just use the Tardis?

It was announced pretty recently the past few days that the company that does the SFX on Doctor Who, The Mill is actually closing down because of the lack of SFX being used and them not ordering a new full series for this year hence the split series

- Moffat probably asked one of his kids as one of them has their own youtube channel where he reviews games and stuff.
- I wasn't fond of the spoonheads them self when they had the form of someone else.
- Also I thought it was pretty obviously the GI (Great Intelligence) was behind it because in the Snowmen the snowmen just repeated what ever the kid said, and then the spoon head of the little girl repeated what Clara said.

Reading on it I think its more due to the lack of effects in general as they do effects for multiple shows. Think they have a New York division still opening.
I wonder who will do the effects now. I hope they don't get downgraded because of it. I'm not all about the effects and sometimes things can be done a lot better using other techniques but for certain stuff they are needed.
Also some interesting and in my opinion great news - Peter Jackson himself, Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit Director wants to direct an episode and will do it for free for an actual Dalek.

The kid could call the TARDIS because he got into the wires or something.
In that episode the Doctor was confused because the TARDIS' phone isn't connected. Can't believe Moffat didn't pick up on this because if that phone wasn't working before, why does it work now without explanation?

Few more spoilers: No complete evidence of these but they guy who posted them has a pretty good record of things being correct.
Other minor spoilers are (mostly 7B):
The Doctor: "I would just be a spaceman on a rock" when talking about life without a TARDIS.
Journey into the centre of the TARDIS: Its about getting lost in the TARDIS, as well as the eye of harmony, you get to see the chameleon circuit.
The new cybermen are 'stealthy'
There is a huge twist in Cold War, you get to see a side to the Ice Warriors which you have never seen before.
In Nightmare in Silver the Doctor faces a cyber-doctor, its Matt's big episode, his in conflict with himself.
Clara discovers the doctor has two hearts* and a sonic screw driver.
The 50th has stuff for both new and old fans.
There will be a live show on the night of the 23rd.**

I gathered he probably wouldn't return as he left Who apparently due to issues with staff. Interestingly all the classic doctor's are claiming they won't be in it, haven't been asked etc but this was the same for Tennant not so long ago. I think they may have announced one previous doctor to make us think that that's it and maybe another will come in. I would be happy with just Tennant and Paul McGann. McGann I feel has been really underused and I know he'd be willing to do it, he's got involved with as much doctor who has he can, conventions, audio's etc. Not to mention this is the doctor that fought in the time war.

I have some hope that the classic Doctors will appear. If they have been asked they wouldn't admit it as they'd want to keep it a surprise.
I'm really hoping that all this thing about Chris is a big publicity stunt and makes an appearance but I doubt.

I liked this episode. Yeah the power of love was used but for once for the right reasons and I really liked the doctors monologue to the god/parasite thing.
I also liked the little line about taking his granddaughter there in the past especially because a lot of people believe Clara to be a regeneration of her, Susan. Maybe this could be Moffat making us think we are right though.
Aww at clara's parents meeting, so cute!

Clara really has breathed a breath of fresh air into Doctor Who. I was so sick and tired of Amy (and Rory) and the stupidly confusing plot that they were all a part of. This half looks like it's stand alone episodes that contribute in small ways to the overall plot, exactly like the Bad Wolf and Torchwood buzzwords did.

Nah, I'm pretty disappointed with this series. Steven Moffat's writing is a bit hit and miss for me. I am sick and tired of all these episodes that end with the doctor persuading a baddy to be good or being like "believe in yourself". The quirkiness and unnecessary scenes bore me too. I want a big episode, not one with a random ice monster.

Spoilers incase you dont want to be spoilers about this popular theory that many have agreed on about his name linking into the 50th.
Throughout the past series, The Doctors been forgetting great parts of his past such as the GI, He's been losing his memory and eventually he dosn't know who he is.. hence 'Doctor Who'? this links into the 50th with him having to re-discover himself kind of, such why he left Gallifrey in the first place. Here's the biggest spoiler of them all. The 11th Doctor is actually the 12th Doctor, with the 10th being the 11th, and 9th being the 10th - Suppdosly theres another Doctor that he completly wiped from himself during the Time War - John Hurt is believed to be playing this missing Doctor he's been seen filming a lot with David and Matt. If you look in the spoiler below of the picture. He has the same type of clothes on as the 8th doctor paul mcgan but also has a version of the 9th doctors leather jacket

Maybe he will just whisper the name to River and that's it. That would then link back to the Library as we know she knew his name then. I wonder if River's end is also coming soon - well her last episode as her end has already happened.

I don't really like this idea, mainly because it means if the 13 regeneration rule still exists it's a wasted regeneration and the doctor's memory loss didn't appear till late on. Maybe it will work, and they'll probably find a way to get rid of the 13 regeneration limit anyway's but at the moment I'm sure, plus I'd always hoped it would be McCgan as the time war doctor as I think he's been extremely underused.
I mentioned it a while back but I read a theory online that I found really interesting. In the Wedding of River Song the group are on top of a transmission type thing where apparently according to river outside their bubble the universe is still ticking and she has sent a message outside the bubble to all the universe and all of time, beginning and end - Help the doctor, the doctor needs your help etc.
Now we know the doctor has been erased from the universe apparently - he doesn't exist. So in theory the people who got the message would answer doctor who? just like the daleks and others. If this theory has any merit it would mean that River Song was created by the silence to stop the doctor from answering a question that River song had in a way asked all along.

I have a theory about how he will overcome the 13 regenerations? :P
That moment where River was Melody and she had been sent to kill the Doctor (I believe this is in the episode Let's Kill Hitler) and she kissed him with the poison on her lips, so he was dying. Then, at the last moment, someone (probably Amy, I can't remember) managed to convince her to save him again so she regenerated for him but also gave up all her regenerations doing so. I think those regens weren't actually lost but transferred into the Doctor and, as she only regenerated once, he still has 12 to go.
That's my theory, anyway.

Tennant is so a few years back ha. IMDB sometimes seems to be full of posts basically about bringing him back. That's the beauty of doctor who though it changes. I always thought Matt was too young so I went in a bit worried but for the first time I found myself really liking him from episode one. For someone young he plays the doctor so old. Heres another theory thats been posted about but this time for the final and Clara. Theres no evidence to back this up but it does make really good sense and does work.
lara isn't the impossible girl, she is entirely possible. The Doctor is lured to Tenzalore, which is where his grave is located. The Great Intelligence kidnaps and threatens his friends (the peeps from the christmas special) in order to get the doctor to open the tomb (which is the tardis) The doctor doesn't relent, but River does, she was there when the doctor revealed his true name. The doors open, everyone walks in to see a web of white light. The white light is the doctor, as a body is... Cliche. It is a web of all of the doctor's timelines, everytime he transported in time and space a new strand was created. The Great Intelligence enters into the web and begins to kill the doctor, over a million timelines, and reverting any victory the doctor made, which also kills the Great Intelligence (he has to die in every timeline at some point in time. The universe begins to disappear and the doctor begins to die. To save him, Clara jumps into the Doctor's timeline and saves him over a million times (The dalek asylum, the christmas special, all times Clara saves the doctor) but she too has to die in the process, and dies over a million times. The doctor is saved, time reverted, Clara is dead, but not entirely. The Doctor enters into his own timeline to save her. The Clara the doctor meets in present time is the genuine article, the original. Every Clara we have met have been her, but an offshoot of the original.

I find that the stories have been a lot better with Moffat. The problem with RTD is he relied on humour far too much - we had belching bins, Peter Kay in a fat suit with ELO loving doctor fans, farting aliens in suits and many other stuff. What I've liked about Moffat is he's brought real mystery to the show and more time travel. As to Matt Smith overplaying the doctor near the end Tennant became too depressed to me not wanting to die. He often seemed to grit his teeth a lot.
As you mentioned though it's hard to know if it's the actor or the writer. I remember Tennant putting his foot down when RTD wanted to write a story with JK Rowling and her creations coming to life, with Tennant thinking it was a stupid idea. I just find RTD turned doctor who into a joke. People seem to praise him for bringing the show back but many where trying to and I do think others would have in the end.

Completely agree with this. Problem I had with RTD was unlike Moffat he never refered much to the classic series, where Moffat mentions it every bloody episode. Also RTD got predictable 3 out of all 4 of his end of series finals were Daleks. With Moffat the storyline in each final has been really different from the last.
Also the thing about the JK Rowling, It wasn't David being angry but RTD wanting her to write an episode but she was busy at the time writing Harry Potter number 6.

Yeah or fairytale endings. I hated the ending for Journey's End, the button to press to fix everything with the added perfect ending for rose - it seemed that the clone doctor was created just to please the rose/doctor fans. One thing Moffat said which some have disagreed with lately is that we shouldn't have too many classic doctors returning for the 50th because it will become a doctor fest and will focus too much on the doctors rather than the story and it's so true.
As to the JK Rowling thing I heard that Tennant had actually talked him out of it because he thought it would be a bad idea. I wish he'd done that on some of the other episodes ha.
RTD is interesting - episodes like Midnight and Torchwood's Children of Earth show he can really write amazing pieces but while Moffat's bad stuff has been slightly bad I've found RTD's bad stuff usually diabolical.

Don't blame Matt Smith, he doesn't get much of a choice about his lines, he doesn't write the ****** scripts, that's the writers' jobs. If you want to blame someone for the dull storylines, Matt is not the person to blame.
ANYWAY if anybody should be coming back from any programme it should be ianto from torchwood
Sorry, wasn't ranting at you. Just felt the need to rant and your post pretty much describes what most people are saying. POOR MATT.

I think RTD wasn't particularly great at writing Doctor Who because he had to keep it clean because it was a family show. Torchwood definitely isn't lol. Keeping your writing clean must be boring as ****, especially after Ianto and Jack's lines together ;)
Don't understand why he went off to write Wizards Vs. Aliens though??????? And it's not technically finished, it's just in limbo.

Ianto sadly cannot come back as his death was so sad it actually worked well. Currently re-watching children of earth at the moment actually. But I agree about Tennant's return. If anything Paul McCgann should return because he's the doctor who we haven't seen much off and the apparent doctor involved with the time war.

Children of earth yeah possibly beat doctor who but the rest no way. Torchwood was supposed to be an adult doctor who but it got turned into a teen doctor who, what I've often called Skins in space. For some reason RTD decided adult meant sex, sex and stupid lines. I mean when in your second episode you have an alien who basically kills for ******s you realise how bad it is which was annoying as the first episode and general premise was really good. A lot of the time I felt what could have bee n really good scenes, tense and so on where ruined by some sex joke or something or other. The miracle day was better but it did feel a bit too American for me and felt a bit of a step down compared to Children of Earth which was gripping from the start to end and showed RTD could write when he tried.

Wizard Vs. Aliens is so badly wrote, I think he went off to do Wizard Vs. Aliens to replace the Sarah Jane Adventures.
Originally though Moffat planed a spin off, with Jenny, Vastra and Strax but the BBC believed he wouldnt have time because of Doctor Whos 50th and Sherlock.
I love Torchwood, Children of Earth was great.
Surprisingly Miracle Day is my favourite, I dont count anything after Miracle Day in the Whoverse though. First time I seen it I hated it thinking it was so slow paced. But watching them all in a space of a few days made me think how good it actually was.

I understand that Ianto can't come back because it would ruin the effect of his death ( :'( ) and everything, but I honestly wouldn't care. It's a shame gloves only come in pairs.. ;) I think sex jokes are just part of it though? Captain Jack wouldn't be Jack without them!
Also, McGann has actually said he'd be happy to come back to Doctor Who anytime. The BBC can whistle and he'll come running, basically. Well that was what he said a few months ago anyway ;o

Can't believe you liked Miracle Day! It was far, far too American for me (how dare Starz take over!) and I was glad that the blonde woman whose name escapes me and Doctor Juan died, but it's a shame Rex managed to survive. And it's a REAL shame that it doesn't look like Rex can be killed off very easily (if there's going to be another series).
The worst thing about Miracle Day, though, is Gwen's hair >:( where has her full fringe gone????
My favourite series were actually 1 & 2 because of Owen. He was my second favourite (after Ianto) and I was so sad when he died :'( what a horrible way to go as well...
And I honestly hope RTD didn't try to replace Sarah Jane with some wizard boy.. What a disgrace...

Frankly of the recent Doctors Tennant is my least favourite, Matt Smith is fun and eccentric and Eccleston's Doctor was dark and actually someone you'd be interested by. Tennant was just depressing and really his only redeeming feature were his speeches.

Sometimes the jokes worked but sometimes they felt too forced. That's why I loved Children of Earth so much as it was more gripping and adult. It wasn't afraid to kill Ianto off - it reminded me kind of of 24 killing people suddenly when you least expect it so that it shocks you big time. I remember Charlie Brooker said that series 1&2 where basically like the Chuckle Brothers meet porn (well that wasn't the actual words he used ha) but he like me found COE very different in a good way.
Also hopefully they'll bring at least one classic doctor back for the 50th. I don't want them all back as it would be too much but bringing one back would be good as it does feel bringing just Tennant is denying the shows history their actually supposed to be celebrating.

Brian Minchin confirmed as New Executive Producer of Doctor Who
BBC Cymru Wales has announced that Brian Minchin is to be the new Executive Producer of Doctor Who, alongside showrunner Steven Moffat.
Brian Minchin is an Executive Producer in BBC Wales drama, currently working on The Game, a new Cold War spy thriller from Toby Whithouse for BBC One, and Wizards Vs Aliens, Russell T Davies’ hit show for CBBC. He has also worked as BBC Executive Producer on Dirk Gently and Being Human.
Brian produced the RTS award-winning and BAFTA nominated series The Sarah Jane Adventures, as well as the UK sections of Torchwood: Miracle Day and was Assistant Producer on Torchwood: Children of Earth.
Brian, who grew up in Aberystwyth, joined the department in Cardiff in 2005 as a Script Editor working on BBC One Wales drama Belonging, before moving on to network dramas Doctor Who and Torchwood in the same role.
Brian says: “I'm thrilled and excited to be joining Steven Moffat on a show that has meant so much to me over the years. I've watched in awe as Steven has taken Doctor Who to wild and imaginative places and I can't wait to get started on many more adventures with the Doctor.”
Faith Penhale, Head of Drama Wales, says: “I've no doubt Doctor Who will enjoy a very exciting time with Brian at the helm working alongside Steven. Since joining BBC Wales in 2005, he’s proved he has a fantastic eye for story and a sharp awareness of what makes a drama like Doctor Who unmissable."
Steven Moffat, Lead Writer and Executive Producer, adds: "When I first took over Doctor Who, Brian was there as script editor, and in the most difficult time of a new Doctor and a new era, was completely brilliant. We lost him to producing The Sarah Jane Adventures at the end of our first run. Rising talent keeps rising, is how I comforted myself back then - but now I am beyond happy that Brian has risen all the way back to Doctor Who, in his new role of Executive Producer. I look forward to getting hopelessly lost in space and time with him."

I'm not sure what to think, however he did work on Torchwood and SJA so I expect fairly good things from him. Hopefully he'll prevent Mr Moffat from making catastrophic power of love errors.

Nightmare in Silver is written by the internationally acclaimed Neil Gaiman whose previous episode – The Doctor’s Wife – was a brilliant, bonkers, wildly enjoyable adventure that won plaudits and the 2012 Hugo Award for the Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form.
He returns with a story that sees the Doctor once more facing the Cybermen, but this being Doctor Who and Neil Gaiman, nothing about the iconic enemy’s return is as you’d expect, from the Cybermen themselves to the people battling them. We caught up with Neil and quizzed him about how he ended up back in the world of Doctor Who and what we can expect from his latest inspired nightmare…
Question: You’re back! Hurray! How were you persuaded to return?
Neil Gaiman: It began with an email from Steven Moffat. He said, ‘I know you’re too busy ever to write another Doctor Who episode… but would you like to make the Cybermen scary again?’ And I thought, Agghhhh! I do! I really do! I said,Yes, I’m in…
I thought it would be really fun to make the Cybermen scarier than they have been recently and then I got completely side-tracked by a mad, strange romp that just keeps getting bigger and odder in which the Doctor and Clara have taken two children to a big amusement park and they find themselves embroiled in a very peculiar galactic empire which has fought a battle against the Cybermen - and won…
Q: What can we expect from the Cybermen and the adventure in general?
NG: We’ve moved on a little bit, technologically, from the last round of Cybermen we saw, because we’re a bit further into the future. So instead of Cybermats, we’re now going to encounter Cybermites… We have to deal with various things we’ve had to deal with in the past, such as the Cybermen’s ability to take over people and transform them into Cybermen. And this time, it’s going to get very, very personal for the Doctor…
Q: It’s got a great cast! Could you tell us about them and the characters they play?
NG: I’ve been very lucky! Jason Watkins plays Mr Webley… He has a few waxworks and other things and made the rather foolish mistake of landing on Hedgewick’s World… and now he can’t get off. He’s really sweet and he is aided by Porridge who is played by Warwick Davis. And he’s wonderful! His performance is just brilliant. It’s funny. It’s charming, it’s deep… it’s very sexy! I’m very proud to have written his stuff.
We also have Tamzin Outhwaite. Tamzin is great! She plays a character who’s running a platoon – a captain. She’s grumpy and you rapidly discover that one of the reasons she’s grumpy is because this is a punishment platoon – they are in exile. These are people who’ve been in trouble and they’re being got out of the way… And she was sent there because she was not obeying orders, and now she’s going to have to make a big decision on whether or not she obeys an order…
Q: So, you’ve got the task of making the Cybermen scarier and this eclectic group of people… How did your story develop from this ‘original plot’.
NG: The only problem with my original plot was that I had no idea what I was doing with the Doctor. I knew what I was doing for everyone else in the story but I really didn’t have anything for the Doctor to do, except he was going to play chess, which isn’t really interesting. And then I had an idea. And the idea wouldn’t go away. So I emailed Steven Moffat and said, ‘Look, I have a mad idea. And it’s something that I wouldn’t do for any other actor except Matt Smith. I think Matt could pull it off. [Neil laughs and briefly outlines the Doctor’s plot-line]. And Steven Moffat said, ‘Go for it!’
Massive thanks to Neil Gaiman for taking time out to talk to us. We’ll be bringing you part 2 of our interview with him very soon and Nightmare in Silver is on BBC One on Saturday at 7.00pm.

I think this half series has been made worse by the child "actors" from the last episode. Get them off my tele... now.

Teasers for next ep:
»‘I blew into this world on a leaf, I'm still blowing. I don't think I'll ever land.’
» ‘One word from you can save me from the rope.’
» ‘Can't you see I'm going to crush the brains of this strange primitive?’
» ‘It's a hell of a monument!’
» ‘I like the new desktop.’
» ‘Open When Alone.’
» ‘Oh no, not the one with the gigantic head!’
» ‘You know his name? He told you?’
» ‘They never questioned me, they never judged me. They were just kind.’
» ‘Surrender your women and intellectuals!’
Hints for next ep:
» That's some familiar eye-wear...
» Someone talks about a parallel world.
» Bit of a Silence of the Lambs vibe going on there. And a Borrowers vibe.
» There is a cliffhanger very early on.
» Moffat has a dig at his own "people".
» If it ain't baroque, don't fix it.
» Clara talks about her mother...
» Wow, is Steven Moffat a fan of Courtney Love and Smokey Robinson?
» Someone should have locked the door.
» 'The Christmas Invasion' and 'Dinosaurs on a Spaceship' get referenced.
Eye-wear could be the eye patches and the parallel world could be related to Rose?

Yeah I love it when River says that! But I think that's the end of her as her timeline is going backwards to the doctors, y'know? Also, I look it up and found this:
We also asked Moffat if there's any place left for River Song to go — we've seen her "birth, marriage and death," as Moffat puts it.
EDIT:

o just reading about the episode on wikipedia and supposedly he did whisper it to her in that -
" Amy and Rory regroup with River and the Doctor. River tries to convince the Doctor that this frozen timeline is acceptable and that he does not have to die, but the Doctor explains that all of reality will soon break down. The Doctor marries River on the spot and whispers something in her ear, declaring that he had just told her his name. He then requests that River allow him to prevent the universe's destruction. The two kiss, and reality begins to return to normal."

He's the one who broke the promise to be the doctor, so I'm guessing the Doctor is meant to heal so he is probably the incarnation who did the massacre at Trensalaw that was foreshadowed by the Great Intelligence.

Just saw this on reddit:
"So, we jump?" "No, we fall."
The fall of the Eleventh.
MOFFAAAAAAT!
Moffat you sly dog

I don't follow?

Actually it seems more likely he was the Doctor of the Time War otherwise the Doctor wouldn't recognise him.

He was the ninth doctor

Some people are saying John Hurt is the incarnation between 8th and 9th, the chronology isn't ruined as he isn't really The Doctor, it also explains why he is wearing 8 and 9s clothing in this picture:

She's already died.
She's already died.
I mean out of the series for good lmao
I somehow think that's it for river since her like if moving in the opposite direction of the doctors. I posted a few posts back, Moffat was asked about it and all he said that "We've seen her birth, marriage and death" or somet
anyway, HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE RIVER?

The have got married, Gaimen wrote the episode and it is called "The Wedding of River Song" and I THINK he tells her the name then but I'm not 100%
Steve Moffat wrote that episode. The only episodes Gaimen was wrote is The Doctors Wife, and Nightmare In Silver.
I adore John Hurt, I posted a while back about being the missing incarnation :]

Her entire vocab is spoilers and sweetie ;l the sexual innuendos, and her and the doctor don't even seem or look like a match.

I've heard this but there's one problem with the theory. Wouldn't Clara have seen this doctor if he was in the past as she was split through his all history.
Interestingly she mentioned she'd seen all his past up till 11 yet none of his future regenerations. I was actually expecting to see the valeyard.
As to the episode I quite liked it. As some said the pacing worked. It didn't seem like things where rushed as usual. I thought the fact Trenzalore was the doctor's grave was great and a surprise. Simple but effective, the idea that this is the doctor's resting place (in a way). Would be scary to see it. It also weirdly means that the Silence could be classed as good as they knew what could happen if he lived.

Oh in case anyone didn't notice as I had to re-watch myself to see it, in the scene where the third doctor is seen running someone passes Clara quickly, who is actually the 8th doctor. Interestingly there's not really much seen of him apparently due to the fact a mini episode before the 50th will be shown explaining the 8th Doctor's connection to John Hurt's doctor. I read this on another forum though so can't confirm it.

Just watched it, definitely the best episode of the series. Cannot wait for the 50th.

Timewar is time locked. Stands to reason Clara may not be able to go there and therefore wouldn't be able to see the Hurt incarnation.

Oh yeah sorry! Was getting mixed up with The Doctors Wife

Technically the time war locked means Gallifrey is locked. A device actually prevents people going to Gallifrey's past and present so if Clara could go there she should be able to go to the time war to technically.

She went into the Doctor's past to fix the Victories which were turned into losses. Since the Doctor already regards Hurt's incarnation as a loss the GI never turned it into a loss?

Sounds a bit dodgy to me though. Clara was scattered you wouldn't think they'd of had a choice. I'm sure the explanation will be simple though.
