anyone else seen it?
saw it last night and i thought it was alright. some parts were funny, and considering it was a horror film, i thought that was kinda lame. but overall id probably give it 6/10 as some parts were predictable and annoying lol.

Bleh. It was alright, far too tame. Trying too hard to be like Funny Games, and failing.
on the advert where it says ''because your home''
thats a good bit
neyway i wana see whats the guidance for it cause im 16 cheers ye
Certificate, you mean? It's a 15, unfortunately. Its concept has great potential, but it is just a watered-down teen movie that will only please, well, 15-year-olds with no knowledge of anything other than what is mainstream - which goes for all Hollywood horror films today with a rating under 18/Restricted. I wouldn't be surprised if the original cut was far more gratifying horror-wise, but the studio wanted it to be teen-friendly, so the real extreme segments were chopped out of the final cut. The Strangers is the latest in a recent spate of horror films gone wrong, another is this year's attrocious Prom Night - I hate how mainstream audiences think a film is original, when in fact they are just remakes of classics. I bet only a quarter of those who saw I Am Legend actually know that it is the third film of that story, preceded by The Omega Man and The Last Man On Earth, two films far greater than the horrendous Will Smith film.
Back on the subject of The Strangers, save yourself the ticket price and buy Michael Haneke's Funny Games, which has the same scenario of a home inviasion. You can probably get it for under the ticket price of The Strangers, and it is equipped with the much deserved 18 certificate.
the ending could have been better aswell, i was like "is that it?". but considering it was only a 15, i dunno how much further they could have gone.
I thought that it was OK, but it really wasn't as scary as everybody said it was..
I remember that the ending was really a disappointment and it wasn't really that good.. then again, it's been like 3 months since I've gone to see it in theatres so I kind of forget most parts of it.. which must mean something - it obviously wasn't that appealing to me or I would remember it.
Didn't you go to Movie Premiere of that Movie? Is it as bad as what you say? Maybe because you are a director and have alot of movies you can see right through films, I could imagine. I was thinking of kinda having a night in with some friends and some popcorn or something and watch it.
I haven't seen this but I have read the whole story and it seems kinda like a bad ending. I would be annoyed if I payed £6 and got that ending, couldn't of seen where it would of gone though. Only way I'd watch it is if it was on Television (ITV, BBC, Sky Movies) Other then that I wont be too interested.
Go for the original Prom Night - it isn't the best film, but it's a cult classic and is good, and a lot better than the remake, but, maybe with some friends, you could possibly enjoy it or have a fun time watching it, i.e. laughing at it - it depends whether or not you're into the high-budget gloss of Hollywood.
Watching The Strangers, I predicted the outcome as
It did well at the US box office and a sequel has just been announced to be written.
To be honest, That's right up my street :eusa_thin
Hopefully it will explain the ending of the first one.
Might just watch Prom Night just for the satisfaction. I'm kinda in too High School Movies, although I haven't really seen Horror ones. Maybe besides the Scream Movies which were kinda fun.
I believe the ending is literally "the end" for those in particular, just for the shock value. The sequel will probably just focus on an entirely new home. The story is based on various real-life home invasions over the years, and they usually ended the same way as the film, so it's trying to portray itself as true to the darker side of reality.
I am sure there is no harm in watching the original Prom Night, as much as I personally despise it; everything has to be given a chance despite how it looks. If teen movies are your thing, you'll probably like it.
Yeh I'll give Prom Night a go and let you know and what I thought of it. Also I see what you mean as the director has obviously stuck to more Reality then Fiction. Wasn't is based on the Manson Murders or something? Where some hippies randomly killed people in their homes? And something Manson was the leader of it? I might of got it wrong, I dont know. Sometimes reality makes it boring, I would of liked something in the end to make me come back to 'The Strangers 2' I dont feel that ending done it. Maybe some people prefer reality rather then fiction.
It was probably intended to originally to just be one film, but monetary success = sequels.
Yes, I believe the story was partly based on the Manson "Family" murders. Charles Manson is who you're thinking of. They invaded the home of Hollywood actress Sharon Tate and murdered her and her partner, and cut out her unborn child. Manson never actually murdered any of them, but waited outside of the house and orchestrated the whole killing. Sickening stuff.
Indeed, sometimes reality in films is boring, and otherworldly elements are far more enjoyable and fresh, but in the horror genre, both realism and unrealism can work to great effect, for example, Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers are seemingly immortal, no matter what happens to them physically, that is totally fantastical, but is what makes those characters who they are. Realism or the cold truth, such as in The Strangers and Funny Games, scares the audience because it could actually happen to them.
i seen it horrible at end init
Indeed they do.
It's very much like Ils/Them (it's mistaken as an English remake of Ils) which is always shown on sky movies indie. They're based on a true story where some couple in a holiday home got invaded and killed by teenagers I believe. I like both movies, nice storyline but I prefer Ils though cos it has a darker atmosphere and is more intense.
Sky Indie shows hardly any independent films. That's how useless that channel is.
i thought it was good
The original I hope?
Im sure its just a remake of an old movie that has the exact same storyline... I cant remember it though! :s
It isn't a remake perse.
Apparently its dead good. Ill probably just watch it online though.
Yeah.
It's not a remake at all.
It was based on a murder that happened in February 2000 and something.
I really want to see it again.
-sighs and waits for 10/21/08-
DVD release.
It's based on a variety of home invasion murders.
how many "strangers" (masked people) are there in the movie, 3?
yeah 3. 1 man and 2 women.
Yes. It is being written as we speak.
Wee.
I shall successfully sneak into THAT one. XD
egh doublepost.

Some parts made me jump, the only real scary thing for me where the masks (just because they freeked me out)
I actully feel like writing a letter of complaint to whoever the hell directed this "movie" MY god how low budget and you dont even see there faces? The most said word in that movie had to be "James" and wth was with "are you a sinner?" "Sometimes" THIS MOVIE HAS FRUSTRATED ME!
I hate The Blair Witch Project, rip-off of The Last Broadcast.
I went to see that when we started school again - it was OK but there was no point to it in the end :S
'Why are you doing this to us'
'Because you were home'
Completely ruined it :P
i didnt think it was as good as i expected it to be
and the endin was abit stupid and could of been better.
