Yeh I'll give Prom Night a go and let you know and what I thought of it. Also I see what you mean as the director has obviously stuck to more Reality then Fiction. Wasn't is based on the Manson Murders or something? Where some hippies randomly killed people in their homes? And something Manson was the leader of it? I might of got it wrong, I dont know. Sometimes reality makes it boring, I would of liked something in the end to make me come back to 'The Strangers 2' I dont feel that ending done it. Maybe some people prefer reality rather then fiction.

It was probably intended to originally to just be one film, but monetary success = sequels.

Yes, I believe the story was partly based on the Manson "Family" murders. Charles Manson is who you're thinking of. They invaded the home of Hollywood actress Sharon Tate and murdered her and her partner, and cut out her unborn child. Manson never actually murdered any of them, but waited outside of the house and orchestrated the whole killing. Sickening stuff.

Indeed, sometimes reality in films is boring, and otherworldly elements are far more enjoyable and fresh, but in the horror genre, both realism and unrealism can work to great effect, for example, Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers are seemingly immortal, no matter what happens to them physically, that is totally fantastical, but is what makes those characters who they are. Realism or the cold truth, such as in The Strangers and Funny Games, scares the audience because it could actually happen to them.

Yes, I see how realism can appear more frightening as people can believe that this can happen to them which it can and it has hence it being based on True events and the Manson murders. Just different people have their own frights and scares.

It's very much like Ils/Them (it's mistaken as an English remake of Ils) which is always shown on sky movies indie. They're based on a true story where some couple in a holiday home got invaded and killed by teenagers I believe. I like both movies, nice storyline but I prefer Ils though cos it has a darker atmosphere and is more intense.

Sky Indie shows hardly any independent films. That's how useless that channel is.

Sky Premiere is the best. I dont really watch Sky Indie, never really has any good movies on. Sky Screen 1 & 2 are not bad neither.

I haven't seen The Strangers yet but I watched Funny Games a few months ago and I loved it.

I'm going to watch The Strangers next weekend so I really hope it can measure up to how good the advert looked.
