8 Hour shifts are good, easy money in a day, try doing a 16 hour shift :PQuote:

Yeah, well, if you applied for mcdonalds, you will be on 4.35 an hour, on an 8 hour shift you would get payed for 7 1/4 hours becuase of break. So works out to be sumin like 180 quid! a week. And the job is not all that bad, men tend to go in kitchen, which is really easy work! Only bit that sucks is when its really hot the kitchen gets 55 Degrees+. Get free food on your lunch aswell, and a card tht gives u money off.Quote:

This is true. My sister works in Topshop, just on the floors and the tills and she works 3 days a week, 8 hour shifts which is enough to pay rent and live off of, far as she's concerned. She lives away from home by the by, in case someone thought we're required to pay rent in our own home.Quote:

As everyone else have said you'll make new friends at work. You may have the same shift as them but most likely not the same break and you may end up just lazing about when with your friends. Not working at the same place as your friends may seem daunting at first but it's a new experience and you will end up communicating with people who you wouldn't normally on the street with.
I'm a shy person in real life and meeting new people in the staff (vary of ages as well) is great as you can have a laugh but still work at the same time. I personally wouldn't like working with my friends from uni as they do seem the type to get warned a lot :P

Why not apply in the first place, McDonalds isn't all that bad.
I applied for McDonalds, because simple I'm really needing a job, but they rejected me, i've been trying so many shops
Try Sports World (depending on whether you have any in your area), the pay isn't fantastic but it's a good job and has flexible hours.

Try other jobs then Shops. I'm sure there is other Summer jobs. I've got a job working at a Summer Camp for 8 - 15 Year Olds, its all during the Summer. And the pay and benefits are quite awesome.
Perhaps I should count myself lucky that I could help out in my family business for £30 a day, not many people my age can find jobs anymore. I might consider helping out, we are really busy now so I should be helping to reduce the stress on my parents. I'd still rather work somewhere else though even if it would mean getting paid less. Don't think I really want a job until I finish at school anyway. And as for working at Maccy D's, whats wrong with it? It might not be glamorous but it's worth the money.
Your lucky if you've got a job as said in this Climate. So take any or any offers, with both hands.
I work in primark, and they are always looking. Alot of there staff tend to be school leavers because of the pay difference. But its good, and the time goes fast cos theres plenty to do!
