I reckon it looks alright, I probably wouldn't be interested though if Michael Caine wasn't in it :P.
I think it looks rediculous, and I can't stand Caine. He's far too old to make the part believable.

I can hardly imagine any actor would do as well as Caine has done if he was 'exactly the same in every film he's ever been in'... Not like he hasn't won countless awards and been nominated for even more. Not like he wasn't appointed CBE for contribution to cinema.

How many Caine films have you seen? Yes, he's won many awards, good luck to him, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he can't play anything but the same person in each film.Quote:

I agree with you the script itself isn't that good, but Caine and indeed a number of the other actors manage to do brilliantly with what they have got. I see your point about it being similar to 'Death Wish' but I for one do not think this is a valid enough reason for mainstream viewers to criticise it. Indeed, for the most part I think a lot of the audience will not have watched it. Yes the script is, quite frankly pitiful and predictable, but I think Caine makes it... It's a very tense film and one that certainly got the chins wagging at the cinema I was at. I loved it.
Well I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Death Wish was a very mainstream film. I'd emplore any audience to see that if they haven't already.
I'd also recommend it. I think I just mean to anyone who isn't a film fanatic, someone who merely watches films for pure enjoyment and doesn't analyse the ins and outs of the script and acting, how it relates to previous films etc etc - it's a good film.
Caine was talking on Jonathan Ross' film show and he was saying exactly what you said Adam, his words were something like, 'I'm just used to goin in, gettin the girl, losin the girl and gettin out' or something :P and how this was a different kind of role for him with a much more complex character.
He does seem to do it well from what I've seen, but haven't seen the film yet.
Well, I don't think it requires much intelligence or high browness to know when dialogue is bad.
Gran Torino is a more recent example of a similar film.

Once again i'd highly recommend this film to anyone.
The only uncomfortable actor/actress, in my opinion is Emily Mortimer who plays Frampton. Although a talented actress this role was not one that suited her best.

However, why you think, Adam, that people care about the performances of actors, whether the fiom was shot well, what camera angles they used or other useless film stuff is important I don't know. Film is in the entertainment industry, and thus, are made to entertain. You should judge a film on how wellit entertained you, whether the right emotions were hit, whether you'd be happy to see it again in the future and so on. Yes actors may play a role in well in a film which may be why you liked the film, but there coul be bad actors, but great cgi or other aspects that are good.
This is why critics are bad, they pick out bad things and rarely pick the good things, or are biased in some way (IB and you for instance). Now please, there's like 2 people who care about your opinion on whether the film was shot good, what film
is better or who's a bad actor
