Well he has done it.

You have to admire the guy. Ran for the nomination of a party that doesn't even like him. Ran the most politically incorrect campaign in history with the entire media united against him. Funding his own campaign and refused donations. Has had to put up with far-left groups interrupting and trying to block him from speaking at every single public event. And through all that, like him or not, he has won. He's rewritten the rules of American politics.

On the Democrat side Clinton pretty much has it. Bernie Sanders, an insurgent like Trump, has ran her much closer than initially thought and in a way it is a shame he didn't make it across the line like the Republican version of him (Trump) has done as it would've really shook up the establishment in both parties.

I still think the yanks should invite our monarchy back and do away with this endless presidential malarky but there you go. :P

just found out about cruz dropping out, im canadian but this election is so cray to read about, i do think itll be trump n clinton head to head and whoever can win over the bernie supporters will most likely win

Interesting to wonder who he'll pick as his Vice Presidential nominee.

To make himself seem more experienced and to please the Republican establishment he could pick a politician like Cruz, Rubio or someone like that. But for some reason I can't see it given how he's taken them all on and completely flattened them all. On the other hand, picking a non-politician like a successful businessman/woman like himself would really make it an anti-establishment ticket and the Clinton machine would really look tired and very elitist if he picks a wildcard for his VP pick.

Wildcard option would be cool, someone like John McAfee (founder of the security programme) or Peter Thiel (founder of PayPal).

A) Almost all of the money he has contributed it is in the form of a loan. Ie. he can potentially get it back.
B) He's worth billions, Cruz and Clinton are worth millions; he has no need to us other money, and yet still does...

Still shocked that Jeb Bush got booted from the potentials so early tbh, I thought he was the main Republican figurehead early on but yeah once he was gone it was a pretty clear road for Trump. You see all the loud liberals on social media with their #feelthebern and all that but I think people severely underestimate the huge quiet majority of voters which is why they're now suffering a #bernout and we're realistically left with "vote me I'm a woman!" vs "vote me I like walls!"

Thiel funded/was involved in funding the Ron Paul 2012 campaign too hence why I know of him. It's no secret he's involved in funding populists.

Quite reassuring actually. I have always been unsure of Donald Trump in whether he'll actually do as he says or whether it is just hyperbole whereas with Ron Paul it was clear as day. Still, I would probably take a chance with Trump even if it only meant a US-MX wall being built & better foreign policy.

We'll see as campaign goes on. You speak as though I am a huge fan of Trump who is saying he's Mr 100% when I have said anything but. The likes of Ron Paul I have faith in - Trump I do not. But I am liking what I am seeing so far from Trump.

Even if he just fulfilled his wall pledge and built the US-Mexico border wall I would vote for him.

It is a shame he has softened his view on banning Muslims but it is probably because he realises he needs votes.

He has self funded a lot of his campaign, of course he needs donations too when it is a national campaign but he is so rich he is less likely to be bought than other politicians.

A part of me really wants him to win. It would be good to have someone who is not a full time politicians run the country. I like how he says things he actually thinks instead of things which poll well like other politicians.

He hasn't said he would ban muslims as though forever so don't spin it like that. He suggested a temporary ban from muslim countries given the very high terror threat which has left French and Belgian security services now unable to even cope anymore.

In my eyes, it is sensible when deciding an immigration policy to discriminate in favour of those who best fit into your society and who do not pose a danger than not to. To not discriminate between people and groups coming into your country is the truly dangerous suggestion because you surely would want groups, religions and cultures that do fit best into your society than those which do not, right? Both for the benefit of the native existing population and those seeking to join it.

Apologies; I'll be honest, I didn't actually read the second paragraph.

Discriminating against people purely because of their religion, nationality or religion is not intelligent policy, in my opinion. I'm not saying it is wrong to be selective, but the measures should not be solely based on ones defining characteristics (well, the ones mentioned above). Obviously being a member of ISIS is a different matter.
