They shouldn't be removed. If bsad rep is removed then +rep should be removed

It causes no problems. If someone gives u a -rep that is unfair just report it

U ave to keep it to be fair, sorry but not a very gd idea.
If their was no -rep then everyone would just get +rep for woteva. It like if u save a life u mite get some award but if there was no punishment ppl would go round killing everybody knowing that there will be no concequences.
Abit extreme for just a forum -rep discussion but it gets the point across.
But i totally HATE grey rep !!

Tbh, i think it would be a better idea to stop posative rep, since thats what is abused with all the rep me, rep me. I rep back. And rep moungers out there. Good members will mainatin rep near there starting position, and there rep will slowly decrease as they do bad things "/

I agree with Mentor, the rep system got out of hand long ago. However if we were to keep positive rep here's my thinking on negative rep. The whole point of reputation was for users to give feedback, if they like something they positive rep, if they disagree with the manner in which a person conveys themselves, they can negative rep. Its a way for a person to build on themselves, and improve themselves. Now, this was evidently meant for a more mature community. The thing is, here its abused, rep is used as a standard for trust, which would normally be fair but people go so out of their way for it now. To be honest its become petty, rep me, ew he -repped me I hate him! I don't know, sometimes the levels of maturity of this forum in general surprise me. Mainly its because I see myself as not as petty as some of the people though I am one of the younger members of the forum, really. People don't know it just because I don't get into that many petty arguments, though I won't get so egotistical as to say that I'm perfect and everyone likes me, not everyone does and I don't expect everyone to. There is no reason why reputation can't work on this forum, its just that people abuse it. However if there is positive rep, it has to be checked by negative rep, like checks and balances. Its the members' way of showing their approval or dissaproval, since they can't edit posts and whatnot. But yeah, that's just my take on it

I think it should stay. People seem to want to be rewarded for everything but not punished for bad things.

We remove pointless bad rep, so if you get any, report it, no harm in doing so. It wastes our time, not yours, so I don't see what you have a problem with . If you dont want to waste time reporting it, ignore the bad rep .

You are contradicting yourself. It does waste our time as we have to report it.

Well, like MAD said, "If you dont want to waste time reporting it, ignore the bad rep."

If -rep was removed, the +rep must surely be removed too? If +rep was removed, all that money that some people put in to buy themselves rep would be useless. Their money would be thrown down the drain.
