    i guess its how you use the word. ppl have used that word for so long in an offensive way that it is deemed offensive.

    Yeh some people obviously do use that term in a bad way - but 90% of the time it's an innocent abbreviation. Just like people may use the word "Gay" as an insult or something, but the majority of people don't use it in an offensive way...

    To be honest, I think everyone int he area I live in either frequently says it or has at some point. I just think it's part of common language, but I get the impression from TV and stuff that it's a word no-one actually uses... but then I post this and my original suspicions are confirmed!

    nope. it is generally percieved as a racist term in any manner of speach. i am not racist and i do not want to be seen as being racist, and so do not use the word.
