I have a proper England flag and I fly it sporadically out my window. I take it on holiday with me and it's the first thing unpacked, then the last thing packed again. I live no-where near a council estate and I'm actually kinda offended that you've classed people who fly flags in the same group.

And, take a walk through an American suburb, I bet there's dozens of flags up. They actually have rules about how you should fly and fold them.

There will be many union jacks / national flags flying this summer

I dont have a problem with people flying their countries flags. Even if it is a cheapy one, still shows the same thing - you are proud of being that nationality, surely being proud isnt bad?

Theres nothing wrong with it - unless the flag is of a different country. E.g, living in England, and waving the Scottish flag on your house I find rude and disrespectful. Just the same as I wouldn't wear a t-shirt saying "England" when I was in Thailand, its common manners

I wonder what the locals at holiday think of us . I cringe when I see a big England flag, imo we don't have anything to be proud of.

I don't fly it when I go on Holiday, usually just hang it in my room or something. I don't know why I do it, it's just something I've always done. Though, last time I was on holiday there were more German flags flying than English ones... and they got the good rooms overlooking the beach... grr.

Tbf, we had quite a fair whack to be proud of and I reckon in a few years we will do again.

OHH, sorry, I thought you meant hang the flag on the outside or on the balcony or whatever Sorry :]

And yes we did have something to be proud of but sadly things have happened, such as Wembly being late and overbudget, and now Terminal 5 at Heathrow...

meh it just looks stupid, outdated and tacky.
and when you live mile and a half from the midlands unofficial neo-nazi capital (kingstanding, birmingham) it makes it even worse
