it sounds like his clingy-ness is because he doesn't want to feel apart or distant from you especially after you rejected him which is what probably has occurred due to the awkward elements of it.

When I say socialise I don't mean wait for him to call you, I mean you need to arrange it with him yourself. Not just say yes to things when he asks. That way he will know that you two are still fairly close.

After a while socialise with a group of people and everything should return back to normal.

i don't want it to be back to normal i want him out my life now because after we fell out he backstabbed me n i don't want to be friends with someone like that.

hm i don't feel bad anymore coz he text me some really stupid nasty things which i can handle and gave it back twice as bad so it's good now, at least i can say it to him face-to-face he'll just tell me to **** off n he'll walk away because he can only do it through text/msn/group of people, so i don't mind and i'm glad we're no longer friends.

Exactly, it kind of makes you the better person because if he clearly can't defend himself irl so does it on msn just cause he feels more safe, but if he has something to say to you he should do it to your face, has he seriously never had a gf?
