GCSEs are irrelevant. A lot of the time it's because you don't match their shift requirements, unless you just weren't good enough of course.

If your getting A's and B's why you applying at McDonalds?

They hire you based on how competent and sociable you are, not because you passed a few easy exams. A lot of places are image conscious as well, especially clothing stores.

Don't take it personally. The fundamental reason you didn't get the job is due to the popularity of people applying there, it's summer, teens are free and want money and have nothing to do better. Obviously there were some candidates that are more comfortable with dealing with people which is what they need. You'll get a better job than those people who beat you that day in the future

I am not sure if that's true :S Certainly not down our way - they are mostly students. I think the thread is a bit off the mark here anyway. They hire

They can hire who they want as such a global success. I'm sure they were just overwhelmed with your greatness they thought you were far to qualified.

I'll tell you the reason. It's because they are looking for people who are not likely to leave soon, and the fact you mentioned your A's and B's in your GCSE's means that you're likely to go off to University. People who don't have qualifications aren't really going to go anywhere, because they can't. It IS because you're too qualified. They don't want to invest time in people who might not be there for very long. So don't go doubting your confidence. I don't think I'd feel very good with myself if McDonald's WANTED me. Good luck!

In the macd near me all the people I've seen work there

1. Are nervous
2. Get the orders wrong most of the time (see 1.)
3. Look like they just got out of bed
4. Best job they're gonna get

Imo they save mcdonalds for the unfortunate when the unfortunate cannot get the bin man job
