THIS is how to go 64bit and is also your tutorial in one sentence ;D

You need two harddrives if you want to clean your harddrive (wipe it) without doing it through the way I said.

    What don't people understand?

I was saying this is for people who do not know how to boot etc.

And Tomm you do not need to boot things in the right order to download the things.

You do NOT need two hard drives.

Also YES you do need to have the right boot sequence. Lets take some examples:

    1 - Hard drives
    2 - CD/DVD Drive

Result: Nope, we won't even boot into the windows installation (assuming the hard drive is bootable)

    1 - Hard Drive
    2 - Hard Drive
    3 - CD/DVD Drive

Result: Nope, we won't even boot into the windows installation (assuming either hd 1/2 is bootable)

    1 - Hard Drive
    2 - CD/DVD Drive
    3 - Hard Drive

Result: Nope, we won't even boot into the windows installation (assuming hard drive 1 is bootable)

I could go on, but the only way you're going to get into the windows installation is if you have no bootable drives above the CD/DVD drive in the boot sequence or you have your boot sequence with the CD/DVD drive as the 1st boot device.

NO YOU DO NOT need TWO harddrives for the tut I posted. f you do it the OTHER way you need two harddrives. You read that? THE OTHER WAY. E.G (apparently sicne you need help understanding )

    • go on my computer
    • right click harddrive
    • click format
you cannot do THAT without a second harddrive, as it does not let you format it while USING it. Understand? :eusa_wall

The tut IS for people who want to go 32bit to 64bit (vista/xp/other to windows 7). I know many members will find this very simple but SOME members do not.

    Happy yet?

No because you don't need two hard drives for either your tutorial or what you claim to be the "other" way. The "other" way is completely pointless since you can format drives from the Windows 7 installation.

And just to make a point here are a number of ways you could format the hard drive with only that hard drive installed:

    - Get a gparted live cd and burn it to a disc
    - Get a gparted image and create a bootable usb drive
    - Use a live CD of virtually any Linux distro and use the drive management tools in that.
    - Create a live USB drive of virtually any Linux distro and use the drive management tools in that

Need I go on? Although i'd like to add that these methods are completely pointless since you can format a drive using the Windows 7 installer.

Again, you've only written a tutorial how to alter a boot sequence nothing else. Suggesting it does anything other than this is likely to confuse those members you refer to.

Again, no. Changing the boot sequence (or the "drive sequence" as you like to refer to it) does precisely that - changes the boot sequence. It has absolutely nothing to do with upgrading from 32bit to 64bit (apart from making sure you can boot into the windows installation).

In this case all you are doing is changing the boot sequence to boot from the CD/DVD drive - I could be doing this to boot from my Norton Ghost CD or install Windows XP 32bit.

You CAN if you change the boot sequence.

Once again I am repeating myself.

For the OTHER method you need two HDD's - the OTHER method.

Oh sorry if I said it wrong. Guess I am not geeky enough to be perfect at everything :S

You do not need two hard drives, EVER, to install Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris, *BSD whatever other OS you can find.
