He basically said what I was going to post to be honest. If the user wants to play smart and still break rules while his other account is permed banned over and over again. Then I'm sure they will be added to either the temporary or permanent auto banned list. So the idea of this wouldn't really be that good and I'm not a big fan of it.

I too am not a fan of this idea as suggested by Garion. We need to enforce rules to ensure that our users know when they have over stepped the line but still try and make the forum usable. When we do have a problematic user we will just place them on the autoban, it becomes very tiresome for a user to constantly register accounts especially if they are being banned regardless of any rule breaking or not.

If you do this two week thing it will encourage members to rebel and will ultimately deter people from rejoining. If members come back after a permanent ban and continue to cause trouble, they will find themselves banned soon enough anyway. If they continue to cause trouble after that they will simply be put on the autoban list. There are policies in place which prevent this from happening and I feel our current banning system is just fun (after a few tweaks I intend to implement soon).
Tell you what. If some of the idiots get discouraged from re-joining thats great news.

Infact I just wish it would happen with some ex-banned users

Many problematic users I know of are always let back. It's like everywhere else now. 'Human Habbo User Rights'

I am fine if you do not think this is a good idea and Garion it will be nice to see what yours tweaks are

Some problematic users are indeed let back as we feel everyone deserves a second, third, fourth etc chance. However if there only real intention in joining IS to cause trouble they won't be around for long.

IP Bans are difficult to implement and rarely needed so we don't use them.

No offence, but I think 6 infraction points (or 7?) is a chance.

Never mind being allowed to come back twice

    Are there IP bans? Yes.

    Do we use them? Yup.

Do we use them sparingly? Absolutely, an IP ban should mean you really screwed up.

As far as this idea, I do sort of like it, however definitely not with the two week idea. I think a 24hr-48hr cooling-off period would be beneficial for all involved - often pissed off recently banned members shoot their mouths off and get themselves in more trouble. 24-48 hours is not a ridiculous amount of time to wait, and we can allow them to browse on a new account just not post for that time. It lets them mull it over and calm down a little, if they're still festering 48 hours then we'll tackle it then. Also it gives time for their appeal to be reviewed.

But just my opinion not necessarily that of management :eusa_danc

Now that is a good idea

I think every member on this forum, bar one, could provide a name of one person that does exactly what you have just said

I'd love to know the one person you're basing this whole thread around, because its all you seem to mention. Also what did he say? All i saw was really screwed up? and unless you know the person you hardly know what the ban reason for them is so you can really judge by that.
