Looks ugly if a post gets lots of thanks, is annoying, WILL get abused - guranteed.
And if you keep thanking someone, their rep will keep going up, and the idea of spreading becomes useless.
Its NEVER good for community type forums.

Indeed. There is no need to fix something which doesn't need fixing or improving. Simple as.

Agreed with saurav, i've been on forums where this is used and you can get a box below the post that's bigger than the post and it looks horrible. Also if a thread has lots of posts that get "thanks" it will put lots of extra boxes on the page and make it stupidly long, not good for devices with small resolutions (netbooks) without scroll wheels (netbooks again). And how would it be implemented on the mobile skin? You get the same problem but its made a lot bigger because those screens have even less resolution and scrolling takes an ice age!

I installed it on my forum and removed it a while later as you ended up with people thanking every post. Then you had a box under every post which was thanked.

I can see the spam forum being spammed with thanks.

Tbh, there is no point in even debating it. I doubt it will get installed. Its been suggested several times and the answer has always been no.

I'd prefer not too see it. I can and do use the reputation system to say thanks. Also, I'm more and so is everyone else I should add of posting thanks should they desire.

Why does this forum seem to have an obsession with so-called 'pointless' reputation - let people rep who they want.
