Thanks system

To be honest, I could thank everyone who posts in a thread, thanking them for their contribution but I wouldnt necessarily rep everyone, only the people who make good contributions so I dont really think its needed and reps been changed to encourage people to use it more again.

I could probably live with the change, but having it alongside rep is just stupid and pointless in my opinion. The thanks system displays how many 'Thanks' you have received so having that and rep just contradicts all the fuss about making the forum less cluttered and confusing.

If this were implemented, there would need to be NO restrictions on how much it can be used. My personal policy would be to give 'Thanks' every time I find myself saying thanks to somebody in a post. If it could only be done a certain amount of times it wouldn't be any better than the current rep system.

Overall though, I doubt Jin etc will turn away from the traditional rep system and as other people said, it does pretty much the same job anyway.

Having it alongside the rep system would be pointless really, it would have to be one or the other. I think the reputation system is fine enough, you can always make a post explaining you gave plus rep and why like most people do if you want it to be public - "I agree with that post, nicely put +rep". I see things like that posted quite often, and its fine. I would rather have the rep system than the thanks system myself. It looks ugly, messy and overall silly.

You can limit it to a certain number of 'Thanks' a day though. I think putting it at 10 like the reputation system would stop abuse.

I personally would prefer this system, and it wouldn't look a mess if someone nicely integrated it into the skins. As for the Mobile Skin, it currently doesn't feature the reputation system so there's no need for it to feature the Thanks system either.

I don't see it happening however but anyways, what I like most is how it's not anonymous and how it would remove the pointless minus reputation system.

But if you restrict it, it's no better than the current system and it would be unreliable because there would be plenty of posts that deserve thanks but wouldn't get it.

I don't like it, i view forums all the time and sometimes it gets to 50-60 people saying thanks and it just looks horrible

Yeah cos then people could actually thank useful posts quicker instead of repping them which takes longer, and people can also see, without posting that their post is appreciated

What about just a quick shortcut button that you can click that adds rep to the users post with "Thanks - [username]" with the message they send being customizable, saves people from writing it out.

The thank system stops people from spamming by saying just 'Thanks, it helped.'

I don't see why there should be any changes when current management have made the changes they want to revive the current reputation system, which is working. I have given and received more rep since the changes.
