I assume this is to maximise sales. When they release the first generation of a product and everyone buys it, they know everyone will buy the second gen as well. So they can save some of the features to put into the second gen and even further generations.

Look at the time between each of the iPod Nano releases. It wasn't very long because they probably have all the technology for the third or fourth generations even before the first one is released. I don't know how many generations of Nanos there are, but you get my point.

That's not an opinion? That's a lie :S Totally different.

I think it looks stupid tbh, iPod Touch's etc look good - giant ones, well, don't.

Looks pointless and to big to be honest.

It has pretty much the same things as an iPod Touch/iPhone, but is bigger...

Word process? It'll be dreadful in comparison to the typical and traditional keyboard and mouse... Having to pull up a keyboard on-screen to take over most of the screen would be annoying and not revolutionary at all - different, but not the be all and end all :/

As far as Apple are going, people are aware that Apple make crappy products on first release, then release obvious functions later on (still lagging behind with their iPhone though). It's slowly becoming a turn off, but won't do any serious problems in the future unless people give up and go for cheaper "better" alternatives that actually do all the jobs you want, have all the features that have been around since the stone age, freely (interact with anything and anyone). It seems to be the latest ding dong with the iPhone, no-one really cares anymore and they just hope the 4th Generation actually brings in REAL bluetooth (the one that syncs with any bluetooth device properly) and multi-tasking, something even the Sony Ericsson k800i has done since the beginning :/

I think the size they have got is perfect, just want them to get rid of that awful picture frame around it.

The OS just looks wrong on it at the moment, but hopefully theyll develop that like they did on the iPhones/iTouch.
10" is the worst size. It's too large to be really portable like an iPhone but not big enough to give you a "full" experience like a MacBook. A 15" version would would mean that several people could interact with the same environment at once, from a developers perspective it would be fantastic! Imagine using the Tablet as a board game or maybe a giant multiplayer game of Pacman!

well apple is obviously aware that this is where the computer industry is heading. within the next decade laptops are going to look significantly different, they are going to be touch pads like this. they'll basically just be screens that you can fold up and put in your pocket.

but this feels like theyre trying to get ahead in the game without having the actual features to back it up.

oh and as an american i dont understand the point people are making about the words "pad" and "pod" sounding the same? i mean they sound sorta similar but they are definitely as distinguishable from each other as they would be in any other accent?

Yeah I really do hope people get fed up their lagging very soon so it might pressure them to speed it up. As it is, Apple can make whatever they want and people will buy it.

Was it this that allows two people to see different things on the same screen from two perspectives? I saw that recently but can't remember what the product was.
