He's a human being and is allowed to air his views in a democratic country. Of course, people aren't going to like it and start throwing abuse and eggs and whatever because they're idiots.

However, politicians must remain professional so John Prescott and the BNP Candidate are both idiots too for letting their temper get in the way of democracy (it works both ways).

I agree that Mr Bailey did the correct thing here. You just don't go up to someone and spit in their face. If you have a problem - you talk. It's their own fault for being so abbusive and not having the brain-power to understand respect.

The BNP candidate was doing his job. He probably shouldn't have promoted in that area (common sense tells you not to, really) but he was simply persuading people to vote BNP. He wasn't physically attacking people, or spitting on them for that matter.

Surely, anyone with an ounce of intelligence would speak to the MP about their policies if they didn't agree.. not spread their germs?

David Cameron has had eggs thrown at him, Mandelson has had green goo splattered over him and they didn't assault them and they're human too. If he's a politician, he's supposed to be as professional as possible, which he (he's not the first, won't be the last) failed to do.

We are not talking about specific policies, we are talking about racial elements in policies - all of which the Labour Party, Conservative Party and the British National Party have/are considering. I do not support judging anybody on race, gender or sexuality - but dont go around slamming the BNP when the main parties are nearly just as bad when it comes to that area of politics.

He can if he wants and so can I. You must have said this about 30 times on the forum and I am getting tired of it. We don't tell you what to do and you have not right telling us what to do. The main parties are nothing like the BNP and if you can't see that then I feel sorry for you.
