D!ck is short for Richard. You can call the person Richard if need be.

No but that's besides the point, some people are actually called D!ck and I know if I registered to a forum and my birth name was D!ck. I'd be pissed that you have filtered my name because it's deemed "rude". How can someones name be deemed rude? it's disgraceful and I'm being proper serious. I'm actually really pissed with this.

Well they'd get the point after the first few infractions? people should be able to use proper English words from the English dictionary (once it's in the correct context ofc) without it being filter.

This doesn't need to be changed. I think it will only encourage people to swear because they know they can, sure teens are going to swear but it's so so ugly to read, even when it's starred out.

I'm sure if your name was D!ck (I know mine isn't but D!ck is an actual name) you'd be pissed. For example, if stephen was a slang term for something sexual and they filtered your name, would you be pissed?

What if stephen was another slang term for a sexual reference that started tomorrow? would you filter it or just infract them users abusing it because I know for a fact you'd infract that user rather than filtering the name.

I'm sorry but it pisses me off how you can filter someones name, ******* ban the users abusing it, you have to filter a name because of childish idiots. It makes no sense.

We can't just unfilter a word just because it is your nickname Richie. I understand your frustration but it would be completely abused and the word **** is used more in an obscene way than as a sensible way i.e. a name.

but if habbo did that - why can't habbox? seeing as it is an 'official fansite'. habbox's excuse for most things is because it's the 'habbo way', or how it should be done according to habbo etc.

seems a little like double standards - you use it to back up changes you want, but won't use it to back up changes the forum want.

It's been discussed lots before, but I think one of the main reasons is that on Habbo the text isn't viewable for too long before it goes off the screen, wheras on Habbox the words stay in that thread forever, and to some people it can just be off putting, can create a negative atmousphere and will encourage more rulebreaking with people using them as insults etc. It's basically that it's more permanent, and that certain users here I'm sure would abuse it. It's been the way it is for a long time, and I don't think it's done much harm and works quite well, it's not a huge issue- there really isn't much need for swearing to take place in the first place.

Not sure why it's still filtered (dick). The excuse "it will encourage people to swear" has been used far too often yet there is never ever "proper" evidence of it ever happening. Besides, using dick as a swear word is so 1990s and middle class it'll make the user look stupid.

In short, it's an outdated "swear word" and wouldn't cause any harm.

Nicki it isn't just because it's my nickname, my argument is why should an English name be filtered on a forum? Plus I can't link anyone to images on my website, pages or advertise my website because it comes up as www.****barry.com/image2.png
