Oli, atleast read our posts. No where did we say we want all the swear words to be taken off, but if its someone's name then surely you can put a little trust in the member's maturity that they'll use it appropriately.

Hmm, you are a bit too paranoid over the word dick to assume society will break down and crash if it was unfiltered :/ There doesn't appear to be any evidence the word will be used every moment of every day in an offensive way anyway, and if it was it would be dealt with like any other rude post (swearing or not). The filter should stay, obviously, but keeping di filtered makes me feel like I've entered a crazy dimension where every day is the 1980s/90s.

I remember when prick was unfiltered The only time it was misused was to bully a member who changed their name to the word, and the obvious week of madness where people love to use an unfiltered word. After that it began to die down, and be used to describe someone who is unpleasant (and most of the time that was to describe a footballer! )

Niamh, it wouldn't take long for people to start using it in inappropriate ways. The predominant use of the "d" word is negatively, therefore it won't be allowed. I remember Richie arguing this with Jin a few months ago. I've said I'll sort it so richie can post links to his website however I think you're a little naive if you don't think users will start using such words offensively if we unfilter it for what (with no offence to richie) is a minor use.

Ben, I apologise if I sound abrupt but this topic comes up time & time again and it's a decision management all agree on and something that won't change, even based upon user feedback. We listen to a lot of user feedback however there are certain things where management will draw a line, where they think it is best for Habbox. The reasons for no removal of the filter or an optional language filter are stated within this thread: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=688379

@ Gomme, i'm guessing it's a regional difference but the word "dick" is used quite often derogatively here

All I got from this post was that you're too lazy to unfilter it and/or paranoid users will leap upon it Have you not seen arguments on this forum? Most of them are mature, and when they become pathetic people purposely avoid the filter, not find minor words and use them as swear words. I demand we all use the words tart, shlag and ho to describe members of the management in day to day life as a response to this thread

If I was too lazy to unfilter things I wouldn't edit the filter where it's justifiable, such was "wdf" and altering the way in which dick is filtered so richie can post his urls. I strongly believe that swearing all over the forum would look bad, I don't particularly want to read through posts and see lots of swearing and I'm sure there's a lot of users who agree. This is why I disagree with it, it's why the General Manager disagrees with it and it's why the Forum Manager disagres with it. Jin also raises a very good point of the filter being used for security reasons too which enhances the argument against an optional filter. Let's remember even if there was an optional filter you will still get an increase in the amount of astericks, so it'll look silly as Jin demonstrated within the other thread.

I'm not paranoid, I moderated HabboxForum for two years and I'm very aware of how a lot of users are prone to breaking rules, perhaps not in the forums you visit but there are a lot of places upon this forum where if swearing was permitted the rule breaking would be a lot worse. Yes, I've seen arguments on this forum and yes a lot of them are mature but a lot of them aren't mature. People don't tend to avoid the filter in arguments they just tend to swear (and obviously it gets filtered). People who avoid the filter tend to be swearing in a more humorous way. I don't think the word dick would be used in a heated argument but I do think it would be used a lot in spam when people get pissed off or even in a joking manner - not everyone is going to view the word in the same way and some may take offence. Therefore it makes everyone's life easier for them to just say it and it get filtered. Let's remember, there's nothing stopping you swearing (unless you are being rude), it just gets filtered. I will swear in posts occasionally and it gets filtered, I'm fine by that.

It's not my place to judge anyone mature or immature, to be honest calling a lot of members on this forum immature would be incorrect, since they would mainly be just acting their age. But then again, there are the kind of members who who convince poor naive children into making fools of themselves, but as I said.. not my place ot make these assumptions.

I can see it being taken out of context in spam but then again who can have a serious conversation in spam
They unfilitered pissed/piss but if i told someone to piss off i would get told off but i can say "i'm so pissed off"
the same should apply for "D!ck" Examples:
non-offensive : I felt like such a D!ick today cause i chatted up a guy who was actually a girl. or Hey D!ck, welcome to the forum.
offensive: D!ICK HEAD!!!!! or You are such a d!ck!!!
    forever the queen.
