Temporary fix? How exactly can you fully prevent this? In my mind, you can't fully solve this issue unless people aren't allowed to type their own messages. You can put lots into place to stop it after or as it's happening for example automated reports/human reports which already happen, but not prevent it from happening as there will always be a way around anything which is implemented.

As for furniture, Bling Beds, Orgy Furniture, Kissing Booth. As well as inappropriate advertisement which was based around dating on Habbo.

Hobbas were wiped out because of security issues, but I do think it's possible for Habbo to learn from the mistakes, and use volunteer Habbos to sort out serious requests from fake/joke so moderators don't have to sift through them all.

Even after this dies down, habbo will still have the arrow in the knee. If my child asked me could they go on an online game, the first thing I would do would be google the company, if i did that now it'd be just news article after news article about paedophiles. I don't see how the company could recover, hopefully they do though.
The news report states Habbo were aware of the report, they were given the findings on Friday before the news report on Monday, their lack of response is why the first investor pulled out before the report. Channel 4 aside, two paedophiles were found to be using Habbo to find young victims nearly two months ago, one I think was in contact with 80 young girls? This should have triggered a response from Habbo, ignoring any moral issues, any good business does not leave a serious issue that contradicts the fundamentals of said business unchecked. They should of done something then, no matter how cosmetic or how much of a PR stunt. They kind of asked for this... I really hope they manage to recover too but like you I struggle to see how they will, it’s a tainted product, and the fact 3i pulled their investment last night after a day of board meetings suggests they don’t think so either or that they weren’t happy with the level of renovations that are going to be made to moderation. You can tell from how Channel 4 reported yesterday they smell blood, another report tonight on cyber bullyng will no doubt feature Habbo again, such a shame!

    I agree.
But, nearly every other game on the Internet has player moderators and they are doing just fine. Why can't Habbo?

This is basically where the Habbo Helpers/Guides program is going. They had planned to have powers like mute/kick however of course this isn't going to be overnight.

habbo needed to act fast in order to stop more negative press, if the mute didn't occur then the media would take note of this saying habbo is doing absolutely nothing in order to prevent what they've been saying, i'm sure sulake would rather gain bad press for muting us than to let us continue our habbo sex scandals with the whole media watching us over the recent days.

internet trolls and the like would infest habbo going against the habbo way in an attempt to gain sulake even more bad press, hoping to shut it down. imagine if 4chan attempted the pool has aids thing again, except instead they hive in dating rooms and just have cybersex with each other, the media would lap this up.

Just awful, clueless and almost embarrassing. Not a bad attempt of coming across as a know-it-all but in reality she's a know-nothing.

The blind loyalty surrounding Habbo is pathetic (although not surprising on a Habbo fansite I suppose...). Many people on here can't seem to see Sulake doing anything wrong, they don't realise how Sulake in the past few years has changed to poorer moderations, dropping the filter and encouraging "dating". The fact people are now blaming the victims is sickening and whilst ideally parents should watch over their children, this cannot and does not happen in reality, but could they trust their children on Habbo unsupervised at all? I think we can say now, no they cannot. I remember in 2006 I was permanently banned for giving out my Skype to a few friends, would this ever happen today? I think not, and annoying as I found it back then, it was the right measure.

Investigative journalism is biased why does no one understand that? Channel 4 also has no reason to remain unbiased, news outlets (excluding the BBC) can take whatever viewpoint they wish and there is nothing wrong with that. Why on earth Channel 4 would make a report carrying on about all the positives of Habbo I don't know, no one would care, investigative journalism has brought this very real issue to light and has been incredibly successful at doing so, that is a good thing. Never once have they explicitly said that everyone on Habbo is a paedofile or that there is no positives about the site.
