@Nick; think it's the 3 who get the badge not sure though.

The VIP actually only goes to one person and that's up to the owners/management of each Fansite. They are giving the VIP out as a thank you more than anything else I believe.
lol at some of the sites on there, the only fansites on the list should be good quality ones
Update:
FANSITE UPDATE: Thanks for the meeting yesterday we are going to tweak a few more things, based on your feedback. Its hard to have a conversation with a lot of people fighting (each other) and trolling in the meeting. I had to mute the room to make announcements (not to silence you).
Historically fansites programs were not consistent in each country. Some countries had official / unofficial sites. I know that fansites used to work with site producers from different countries, but we no longer have site producers, so we are operating a global and fair system, through me. I respect every single one of you, but one thing that will slow the process down is negativity and Habbos shouting and ruining the program for others. This is 2012 and we are moving the Habbo product forward and we believe you guys are key to making it a success.
I get hundreds of fansite requests each week - they all vary in quality. I reject sites and I accept some.
We now provide content (HQ insight) to you before we launch it officially. Sometimes things change last minute at HQ, that's why you only hear it a few hours before we publish - this cant be helped. This is business. Its up to you how you turn this content in to awesome content for your audiences. We cannot supply guidance to help make your sites better. Its time to get creative and make your site better than the others.
The process works similar to how online Tech press works. A new product comes out, A press release is written by the company, it is sent to hundreds of tech blogs. Sites write the story. The best tech blogs that get the most traffic are often the sites that write great news and offer a lot of insight to their audiences.
In terms of promoting you more, I am in discussions with HQ about the community pages (updating them), I am also looking at promoting you on a tab in the official Facebook pages too. I am also pressing HQ to showcase fansite events better ingame and on the site. This fansite program is just the start - we have a lot more exciting things to come - but we all need to be paitient. Global programs like this dont work over night - a lot of work is going in to ensuring this is a success.
I AM LISTENING - PLEASE DO NOT THINK I AM NOT
I was tweeting late last night (before bed) and now moving forward, I have slightly tweaked the fansite criteria to make it fairer.
FANSITE CRITERIA:
- Continue to use FREE domains if you wish. We do not recommend this, they are not good for SEO and can often look scammy to users, but we understand if you can't afford a domain.
- We do not want to see people sending in simple blog templates with no news. It is obvious this is just to gain the ingame badge.
- It is not mandatory for a site to include forums. A forum is a good social utility for a site however
- You can write about un-related Habbo news. I was aiming this message at sites that get sent in that contain nothing about Habbo (for example PS3 and Xbox dedicated sites). If its a Habbo fansite it should be about Habbo right?...
- The fansite audit will be checking inactive sites and those that have not been updated for approx a month. It will begin this Wednesday.
- We want to see quality sites, serving great content to your audiences. The Habbo brand is associated to your site so we want this to be as good as possible.
- Site must not contain dead links
- Sites should contain inbound links to Habbo (this can be through your news, the fansite badge, or to the client)
- It would be good for Radio sites to start including news on their sites. This is not mandatory, but will help if you want to get on the mailing list.
- Optional: Sites must contain links to Habbo's Facebook and Twitter channels.
We have the right to remove sites from the mailing list. When we add sites to the list, our decision is final.
When the quality checks have been completed and I have weeded out inactive sites, I will send another poll to capture details for the ingame badge and VIP club. Lots more sites have been added in the last 3 weeks!
I will supply an audio file clearing up a lot of other points later on today.
Thanks again for your discussions yesterday. STAY POSITIVE, STAY COOL, STAY CLASSY.
Press releases to Habbo fansites before Habbo itself announces the news is the most promising thing Habbo have done towards fansites since about 2005 (I hate to be someone looking back to the past as "The Good Old Days" but it's fair to say under Callie, the fansites received a lot more benefits including regular Hotel alerts, VIP, exclusive events, free furniture etc). This will encourage users of the hotel to use fansites much more for news and I think it's fair to say the fansites have been listened to. There's also a bit of common sense it seems with Habbo noticing the fansites clearly set up to earn a badge.
i got this email the other day and I'm glad they are getting rid of these horrid fansites
Habbox FTW
