Most people who have voted limited want it to be a feature for the original poster so anyone can get it, new members, non vip's as long as it's their own thread. This is my issue. Majority wanted it limited? Are you surprised, if they can obtain something that others can't then they are going to vote for it, it all boils down to feeling superior. Why can't all members have it? I think there are enough benefits for VIP / limited members, this one should be given to all. Give the newer users and those who aren't VIP something special because from what I can see they have very little.
(am i reading this right?)
Yes and if you read mine I am against any sort of limitation. I didn't think I'd have to make it that obvious, however, I will, just for your benefit. Why can't you keep it as it is, people who have voted are mostly people who are vip members / members who have vip / read announcements. The majority of users don't do these things. Simple enough?I'm not being funny but if you did actually read my posts you would see that only one option mentions it being limited to VIP:
The other options was limiting it to specific forums or to the thread creator only so you can only see it in the threads you create. When users voted "Limited" that does not automatically mean limited to VIP usergroups - It can be a number of things.
All the other options will NOT limit it to VIP users. Any of the other options would also not hurt any new users either.Yes and if you read mine I am against any sort of limitation. I know that. I can make things bold too! The other options benefit a certain type of user. Therefore limiting. Therefore not useful for everyone. Therefore I don't agree. Therefore, therefore & therefore.
Also it doesn't matter if VIP people vote in polls - They also use the forum as well as new users. The only option that would truly hurt new users if it was limited to VIP or high end up user groups.
Well yes but they would still be able to see it if was restricted to announcements. The thread creator one only - If they made threads on the forum then they would still see it. Regardless if they are VIP or not. But you should of chose the last option and said you wanted it to to stay for everyone in every thread.

The option that is most likely going to go into practise is the one for limiting it the the thread starter only. VIP's aren't the only people who are allowed to create threads so we are not limiting this to VIP's.
A) Only the thread creator can see it on the threads they have created. - No limits to no one as anyone can create a thread.
B) Limit it to Announcements & Staff Forums but is disabled elsewhere. - Again no limits because everyone can read the announcements.
C) All threads but only users with VIP can see it. - As said already the only option that is only limiting it for VIP's
D) Other - If this option please explain in the thread on what you would like to see in terms of "Limited". - Other.

Judging by the amount of people online and the amount of posts, I can comfortably say that the majority of people lurk and view threads rather than posting and creating them. With what you have proposed, they won't be able to make the most of this feature. Just because they lurk doesn't mean they should be ignored. Also it doesn't matter if VIP people vote in polls - They also use the forum as well as new users. It's a very minor feature and any user can create threads - So if they really wanted to see it then what would they do? Post threads. It's not stopping them from using the core functionality of the forum.Judging by the amount of people online and the amount of posts, I can comfortably say that the majority of people lurk and view threads rather than posting and creating them. This is being blown way out of proportion here. Any member is welcome to make a thread and if they do then they can make use of this feature should they wish. It isn't going to have some detrimental effect on any member since until yesterday, it was never used at all.

I've left, but I still visit sometimes!
Both very negative. You shouldn't have that mentality. You should give people, regardless of what users they are (lurkers, active, pointless repliers) as many features as possible. Are you more likely to buy a car that has lots of features that you find useful or a basic model?
