the day richie becomes a forum mod is the day hxf dies.
I do not think the usernote system should be abolished, especially considering how useful it is for moderators to utilize when they need to deal with a user and don't know anything about the behavioural history of that user. If they were abolished imagine how disorganized moderators would be, especially new moderators, who are trying to learn the ropes and trying to understand precedent in circumstances and how to handle different situations. Can we please abolish the usernote system. If not, is there anyway to delete usernotes over time? I want to show my lethal skills to the moderation department but they won't take me serious with my 91 usernotes. The majority of my usernotes were unfair anyway, I did explain my cat ran across my keyboard several times and it coincidently came out as a rude comment.
Cheers,
Rich.
If you have 91 usernotes then those 91 usernotes should be, in my opinion, considered when you go through the approval process to become a moderator. When Garion, Oli and I all applied to the moderator department and were accepted we all had usernotes because we all had a history of bad behaviour on the forum (and after we got the gig some of us even deleted our own usernote history (not me!)). When we all applied I'm sure our usernotes were considered, but a good Forum Manager knows the members on the forum, and will be able to determine if you've matured since receiving those usernotes enough to become a member of the moderation team.
Additionally, you might have 91 usernotes but if half of those were from 3 years ago and only 3 of them were from very recently then most likely the only usernotes of yours that will be taken very seriously will be those recent 3.
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.
I kinda agree with this; I wish we could see our own notes and post a comment within that note so the mod/admin looking can see two sides of the story. 'Cos in the end of the day its always based on the moderators thoughts.. so if you do something that offended him/her but not others then BOOM warning etc.
Can we request on how many we got and the reasons/dates?

You don't need to see your user notes because they are exactly the same as the PM you receive. If your disagree with something the you reply to the PM. Moderators dont edit something if they think it's rude to someone unless it is damn obvious. We either leave it, pm the user it's aimed at for their view or wait for the post to be reported.I kinda agree with this; I wish we could see our own notes and post a comment within that note so the mod/admin looking can see to sights of the story. Why do people still think that :S

It's not just offensive comments that are removed though. I remember having a rather lengthy pm discussion with chris when he decided to remove about six of my posts (which, for the most part, didn't break the rules!) in their entirety and close a thread. The thread eventually was reopened and some of my posts were added back. Would have been easier if I could have just seen the usernote and discussed it there. Don't really see the harm in allowing us to see our own usernotes just like we can see past rep we receive. You don't need to see your user notes because they are exactly the same as the PM you receive. It would cause many arguments and nobody would want to be a forum moderator anymore because they would cause 100 arguments a day by simply moderating the forum.I kinda agree with this; I wish we could see our own notes and post a comment within that note so the mod/admin looking can see two sides of the story. Beaides, you absolutely do not need to see your usernotes in order to appeal moderation decisions to the forum manager or to Matt himself.
