I did try to, but Matt and Chris adamantly refused to admit that moderation involved enforcing quality. The venture could have been avoided entirely if they weren't so stubborn.

What happens now is what's important, if you admit it then you get to enforce the rules as have been dictated in the FAQ and the forum returns to normality and we have some nice discussion. If you don't admit it then the forum continues like this for at least a little while until we all get bored or the forum closes from lack of active discussion.
You want the forum to return back to normal? That would happen if you didn't complain about the threads in the first place.

I do not think it is the job of the moderation department to determine what threads are good or bad. It's always made no sense to me how people forget that ultimately, threads die. Threads have a limited life span so to complain about them is a waste of time. Keep posting good threads and they'll be gathering dust on page 2 before you know it.

Skandair spamming post your threads is not what I would regard as 'normality'.

Well you clearly ignored my post where I already explained that this was a case of the forum rules being enforced, where it says any thread that has no point will be moved to Spam.

Which is clearly enforcing quality. As I said I don't care if you recognise it or not. Your loss if you don't.
