Rep Counter

I know @Chris; you've said rep isn't going to change, but surely if -rep creates a negative atmosphere and a -rep counter isn't going to be added to posts, then the ability to -rep should just be removed?

Just because there isn't a -rep counter it doesn't mean it should be removed. There has never been a -rep counter so I don't see why we suddenly need one now. Of course, if the poll indicates that more people want the -rep counter then it is more likely to happen.

its more the fact that if you can see a post has lots of -reps then you might be more inclined to -rep it yourself also

the -rep feature itself is fine imo as it all stays private

But wouldn't that be the same if it was 55 +reps ?

init, if u see loads of +rep on someone's post you're prob more likely to think it must be a really good post so rep it when it might not have been.... I would rather have nothing at all or both a red and green

init, if u see loads of +rep on someone's post you're prob more likely to think it must be a really good post so rep it when it might not have been.... I would rather have nothing at all or both a red and green

But the reason for not having a -rep counter seems to be that it creates a negative atmosphere on the forum, but the source of that negative atmosphere is negative rep. If negative rep is creating this bad atmosphere and is the cause of arguments then why have the ability to -rep in the first place ?

But if someone has VIP and sees that someone -reps them, they are likely to hold a grudge against them and possibly start arguments with the person who -repped them. And sometimes it happens if there's a discussion in a thread, and someone will quote someone saying something like 'So you -rep me just because you disagree?' - just an example, which is something I've seen on the forum before.

erm are you serious, how does showing a +rep green button create positivity when many repped posts are from people attacking each other etc lol

never the less guys, can i also just add the +rep thing was a custom plugin by wee hoteluser afaik, The -rep would have to be coded, no one can do that other than Jin maybe on the team, Skynus and chippiewill still have v7 to finished, no point adding more to the plate.

Which is then picked up by a moderator and dealt with accordingly. It's not something that happens often anyway.
