A lot of people say if you get a virus of any sort than you probably should no longer trust that installation of the operating system. Hence what Chippiewill was saying.

as @xxMATTGxx; said, you can't trust that OS install anymore, there could be any number of other changes it's made.

Reinstall Windows.

The issue is, even if you got rid of the virus you don't know what backdoors it has opened. I actually remember one virus which did the opposite, it used an exploit to get into a system and then patched the exploit so it was harder to detect and remove and also harder for other viruses (e.g. botnet competition) to take control of the system.
