OMG I AM AT GREAT RISK.
And you are at greater risk at being ripped off (oh wait, already happened.)
No virus I have ever got has been too bad. Just click heal on what ever AV you use, or 'sned it to a vault'
Kerching. all done.
---
Might I also point out that there is a KEY reason OS X has less chance of getting viruses?
Because there are so many more programs available for winodws that OS X.
Fact.
The iMacs are not overpriced. It's their towers and laptops.
Why are you trying to spark an argument, I was just stating a FACT![]()
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.
At least you cleared up what you were suggestingThe post I quoted made it look like the OS is clearly to blame when most of the blame should go to the fleshy thing sat infront of it
Though a virus on a Windows machine is only a slight disruption, with alot of the popular anti-viruses picking up any potential threats near-immediately. Not exactly sure what a Mac virus can do, so no comment about them really :/
Anyway, the virus argument is a bit dead and buriedBoth systems are suggested to have an anti-virus or security centre of some sort, so the number of viruses goes regardless, and generally speaking, an anti-virus on a Windows machine has more chance of knowing what to do with the experience behind the companies making these scanners, than a Mac scanner. But then again, I know very little about Mac anti-viruses. So give or take, they're both about as reliable as each other security wise :/
Oh, and iMacs are so over-priced - mainly the add-ons. A 2TB hard-drive shouldn't cost as much as they are suggesting :/
Oh, and an argument doesn't get sparked - he is merely backing up his argument with facts, as did you. It's so frustrating when people assume "arguments" are troll/fisticuff/flame wars, when the original form is just, for example, a box of factual information/opinion which you give to someone, and you take on their box (argument) and return it with counter-arguments. Woe is the argument, it never meant to cause pain![]()

Apple peripherals are outrageous. Their 500GB harddrives are like $300 dollars. And their monitors are over $1000 dollars. At least you cleared up what you were suggestingThe post I quoted made it look like the OS is clearly to blame when most of the blame should go to the fleshy thing sat infront of it

In North America, though, their AIOs prices are comparable to other manufactures AIOs. I know in Europe computers in general are more pricey, but here at least, the new i7 27" iMacs are not marked up too much.
LOL oh well. At least we both believe we got our Macs at a good price![]()

Rub in the cheaper prices over in the US why don't youAre they actually manufacteured by Apple? Not that it makes any difference, just wondering
ver here, the prices Apple put on some of their products are far from justifiable, borderline disgraceful really - usually the add-ons like the Hard-Drives mentioned. It's shocking :/
I agree that in the US iMac's are fantastic prices. Come over and buy in the UK though, and it feels like they are trying to make you bankrupt!
I mean the 27in iMac with i7 Processor is.. £1,758.99incl. VAT - that is expensive imo![]()
However in the US for the same thing it is 2199$. Now is the shocking bit. If you cpnvert that in to pounds it would cost a minimal £1333.
Now I am pretty sure it does not cost £420 per mac to get it over here
Agreed with that.Rub in the cheaper prices over in the US why don't youAre they actually manufacteured by Apple? Not that it makes any difference, just wondering

Ex-janitor. Might pop in from time to time, otherwise you can grab all my information from http://jamesy.me.uk/
4GB modules of RAM are extremely expensive at the moment as they're very new. 8GB modules are available though.

Yet APple charge £480?
Yeh that is a rip off Nick![]()
Indeed, the excuse "they fit it for you" doesn't fit in here either. I think I read somewhere that common business practice is to supply the equipment (£192) and fit it for half the price of the product (£96). Paying more than £300 is considered a rip off, heck paying more than £200 is quite extortionate seeing as you don't really have to do much with upgrade RAM on a computer, compared to parts of a car for example![]()
