It was the Doctor. Clara said he'd come back here in years to come, indicating he'd go back to the barn as John Hurt in the 50th Anniversary Special.
Question:
But if we established there was nothing hiding under the bed, who was hiding under Rupert's bed sheet when he was a little boy? The one they promised never to look at and it left?
would help if I spoilered it and didn't quote it![]()
ah ok i get it now, and yeah i saw white feet/legs so you guys must be right.
I think the whole point of it being Clara under the (young) Doctor's bed is that it explains the fascination he had with the whole 'never truly alone' thing at the start of the episode. And now Clara knows that he's had the dream.
Anyways, amazing episode.
I loved the start with the Doctor's blatant lack of understanding about the whole dating game. 'Hiding' in the bedroom because in Doctor-land dates never lead there! Also, Clara on the bed upset and he's just cluelessI love them together, the dynamic is spot on.
So, Clara and Danny kissed at the end? And Orsen is her great-grandson? And so she married Danny or at least has a child with him? Does Clara understand this? Because at times it was like she'd figured it out or at least had the thought in her mind but the way it wasn't actually brought up made it seem like she didn't actually pick up on it. Thoughts? Also, not keen on them pointing out the relationship/deciding Clara's future for her so early on.
I liked the whole concept of going to the end of the universe but we've been to the end of the universe in Utopia so I would have liked a reference to that or a hint that it was a different reality of something... Though, if I remember correctly, the Doctor reversed the events of the Master's return in S3 so does that include right back to what went on in Utopia?
Loved the ending!!! Was not expecting it to be the young Doctor, and I loved how they tied it up with Clara under his bed. I'd love for some more of his back-story about before/during his time in the Academy. Also, the link to the War Doctor returning to the cabin/shed thing was just great. My mouth literally fell open at that momentAnd I completely didn't realise until the episode was over that for Clara to visit the young Doctor they had to have gone to Gallifrey!!!

I hated the past 3 episodes but tonight's episode was amazing.
Loved everything about it and this is the type of doctor who they should keep producing, not crap like the spoon fight from last weeks children's show.
I thought it was a brilliant episode. Very clever and sort of relatable as we all have weird dreams and feelings that there is somebody else in the room. Best episode of the series so far!

I've left, but I still visit sometimes!
I loved the episode. I think it was the greatest new who episode of all time even better than the 50th. I was creeped out by Ruperts bed and due to me being in residence my friends decided to hide a minion under my duvet...
'I'll smack you so hard, you'll regenerate!
Loved the episode to maybe not as much as the name of the doctor but great episode and great to see a young doctor and on Gallifrey to. As someone has mentioned still not sure about who that was in Rupert Pinks room.
What I really liked was how far the doctor would go to get a glimpse of this just like how he was so sure about Robin Hood being a story that he didn't really focus on other things. This is a doctor who seems to be willing to go further than any other
