Yeah, i felt the same.
People used to hit him, so i used to ask if he was alright.
But it just made it worse and he would follow me round even more.

Right this is a tough one,
I think you should talk to a teacher about it,
tell them he gets bullied and that he won't leave you alone, maybe they can sort out the bullying?
I feel sorry for you because you don't want to be followed but you don't want to hurt him,
Maybe just ignore him for a bit and he might get bored?
