yeah but thats wales - i myself are related to a welsh family - when i visit them every so often i rarely see any people other than whites down where they live (camarthenshire)
I'll tell you the reason. It's because they are looking for people who are not likely to leave soon, and the fact you mentioned your A's and B's in your GCSE's means that you're likely to go off to University. People who don't have qualifications aren't really going to go anywhere, because they can't. It IS because you're too qualified. They don't want to invest time in people who might not be there for very long. So don't go doubting your confidence. I don't think I'd feel very good with myself if McDonald's WANTED me. Good luck!
NIKKEE's got the right of it. I would bet money on the fact this is the reason they didn't hire you. I say this because the last time I applied for a retail job about 2 years ago it was at the new Apple store at my mall. I made it through the initial application cut based on prior work experience/grades, but then during the group interview they held I accidentally let slip something about University and after that they managed to get out of me that I was planning on attending a University that was in a different state, and that I'd be leaving for it in about 5-6 months. I was told two days later that I didn't make the cut, and trust me I was heartbroken when 2 weeks later I walked in to buy a keyboard cover for my mac and I found that this RIDICULOUSLY incompetent sounding woman who'd been a part of my group interview was working at the front as a greeter. I couldn't believe they'd picked her over me.. Until later when a friend of mine was hired as a manager and when I was chatting with him about potentially trying to get a job there for the summer and he told me that though he'd like to help me out he wasn't allowed to hire people if he knew they'd be quitting/leaving soon.
So yeah.. basically don't take it too hard that they didn't hire you. To be honest you would have hated working there and probably would have quit pretty soon. Are there any other jobs you could look into applying for? The key is to apply for a lot of them and though you might get turned down at a lot of them, eventually you'll find a job! I don't know where you live but if you've ever heard of craigslist it's what I used to find a job as a veterinary assistant last summer. I don't know how well used it is in the UK but its worth checking out. And seriously, don't take it too personally if you do get turned down. There are a million different reasons why they might not hire you, and the majority of them are just circumstance and chance and not due to any shortcomings of yours. You sound smart and capable and I don't doubt you'll manage to find a job eventually.![]()

Ex-mod.
Follow the rules, it makes the world a better place!
I've pretty much quit Habbo & Habbox, but I still stop by every once in a while. If you knew me, send me a message saying hi, and I promise I'll get back to you! Miss all you wonderful people who saved me from boredom all those years.
Well we do have a fair proportion of Eastern Europeans here and quite an ethnic minority where I live but its a university town as well.
Don't let this knock your confidence. Just remember that during this climate there are literally hundreds of people applying for any and every job they can find simply because its a job. Only the vast minority of applicants will ever get through, so unfortunately you'll be part of the majority that don't a few times. Its all part of the process, and its bound to happen. The moral of the story is to not give up, and just keep reminding yourself at least you're actually out there and trying your hardest to get a job, and not sitting back on your ass not caring. :8
