Does age matter?

I think for teens it's a bit different, I think anything more than a 3 year age gap is just weird.

As you get older it's not so bad, I know a 36 year old women going out with a 24 year old bloke. I don't see that as weird.

As one of my old close friends used to say, "Age is just a number" If you truly love someone then why worry about the age? I have a friend who is 20 and is going out with a 14 year old! (She looks about 19 btw)

but when we are talking in terms of social norm and legality, I don't think age matters at all. I did shiver when I read about that 70 year old n that 25 year old makin babies, but at the end of the day its love that matters not age.

Why have people voted that age doesn't matter when every single one of you has said "no, BUT...."

If there's an exception then yes, you do think it matters. If you didn't then you'd be fine with old people sticking things in babies

But thats not an example at all. Of course we have to look at from a legal point of view, otherwise thats just silly. And when I said it gives me shivers, it doesn't mean I condemn it. I don't think I would ever be able to fall in love with someone that much older than me because of my own niggles, but thats not to say I don't beleive people do have the ability to fall in love with each other with stupidly large age gaps, and if they do, then thats just peachy dandy.

But you said paedophilia isn't acceptable, so you do think there are limits and therefore do think that age matters, even if only to an extent. Laws on age change around the world so can't really be seen as a "true" indication of what ought to be acceptable

Well I didnt think this thread was stupid enough to literally go beyond legality, rather I was answering the question from a social aspect not a lawyer. So my answer still stands.

Age doesn't really matter, to a certain extent. Yeah, yeah. 11 year olds with the 19 year olds. The 11 year olds are naive and either the 19 year olds are desperate, just wants to make a joke out of it in the end, or is really weird. :S unless there is something really special about that person. But tbh, no offence if any of you are 11, but i don't think 11 year olds should really be dating any way. :S atleast anyone older anyway. Maybe just the little dating with people in their year. I shouldn't really be the one to talk though, as i'm 13 -nearly 14. :] and my bf is 3 & a half years older than me. Not really ashamed of it though. It's been 7 months and things are great. I guess it just really depends who the person is.
