Go to that place in buthroupe, the guy should sell them at 30gp each I think

Yes, go to the rogues den, they sell for a low price there.
You don't need 100 of them though, some need 1, some need 20. And you can pickpocket lockpicks from the bandits at the bandit camp, which is also the spot where you need to use the lockpick.

Lol when I did this quest I bought 100 and only used like 39 of them ^^

When I was duing it. I arrived at the camp, braught 10 anti poisons and gold and locks picks note [300]

I sell 10 then i use first lock on chest

you hear a sound.
The picklock turns.
the chest opens.
you claim the gilded cross.

I was like, wow lucky D
