No, I am not saying that exactly. But children to have a choice. If they really don't want to go to school they can be home schooled.

Wow a typical example of how Britain works today, lets put it in a simple order of whos treated above others.
(a general statement of political correctness in modern Britain)

Muslims, gays and other minority groups first and foremost always.
Our European 'friends' who so love us are put second.
Scottish, Irish and Welsh put third.
English last.. and we pay for ourselves to be treated like this!

I dont know the ideals of the case but I couldnt see it working like this the other way around, if they visited a church with a muslim on the trip, I wonder if a muslim woman would remove her veil out of respect for the church? - somehow I dont think so. To add to my list, yes I am referring to political correctness which has stemmed mainly from Harriett Harpersons legislation which puts minorities first always - even though most of the time minorities are sick of being treated in that way.

Probably would if wearing it would offend the people within the church, but it wouldn't offend them so a bit of a null point really...

How do you know it wouldn't offend people? Are you just assuming that we're very laid back and will let people trample over us without speaking out, as we have done? It has come to a point where people don't even openly talk about their dislike of mass immigration for fear of being called a racist, when it's not racist at all.

That is why a permission slip exists. It is required even at college for Biology coursework field trip - without which you have a slim chance of getting a good grade.

I know it wouldn't offend people in a church because I study Religious Studies and know quite a lot about the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches.

If you go to a Church on a school trip i'm pretty sure a teacher would tell you off for wearing a satanic symbol.
Nobody would claim that a satanic symbol was a requirement of their religion though, so that's a null point itself.

I've thought of a more valid example; in a Roman Catholic church you are expected to genuflect whenever you pass the tabernacle as a sign of respect. I wonder how people of other religions would react to being forced to acknowledge a different deity in this way.

if she doesn't want to wear it thus conforming to a culture she might not wish to conform to, she shouldn't have to.

Having said that if it's a requirement to visit where she's going then she shouldn't be forced to go, and the field trip shouldn't be compulsory.
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.
