That is what I am trying to say. You don't need anything massive, and you certainly do not need 11gb ram..

Airflow would be much worse because the fans would stop.Unless they're in dependant to the wires you cut up in which case go ahead, your computer will be MUCH cooler and quieter.

Fortunately I don't have to worry about my cables, I have a funnel thingy to hide them (Also stops them screwing up the airflow as much.

[@]@Dentafrice[/@] Nice setup, but I imagine that Apple display was expensive!
Dentafrice
23-02-2012, 02:09 AM
Was $999. That, the Griffin Elevator stand, and an iPhone dock was like $1,100 something.
I need to get a smaller stand for the Thunderbolt display so when I sit my iMac next to it, it will be the same height... that was a crazy mistake on behalf of Apple.

For what many would call "good design" that is a pretty massive error to make.

Should have two of those coming next week! Can't find anywhere with stock for the EVGA ones.
Got mine from dabs as they are quite a bit cheaper than everywhere else. Plus you can get £20 off a order of £399 so it worked out quite nice xD
I'll most likely be picking up another one when the price drops a bit as one is perfectly fine for me at the moment as it plays everything bar Metro 2033 at max settings at 2560x1440.

Hudson / Jenkins. I've got Jenkins running on another server by itself right now, but I'm having some issues with it. I have Hudson running great though, and it's working good... but it's on a slow(er) server so our tests are running a bit slower than I'd like.

Just set up my desk tonight. It's just a cheapy from Ikea but I love it, huge improvement from my old desk and a lot bigger! Only problem is it's a bit lightweight and seems to wobble quite a bit (due to the legs being quite light I guess) is there anything I can do to stop that?

A few options. You could use wood glue between the legs and desk (assuming you can get them off) or get 4 corner brackets and screw them into the legs and desk, but it depends how the current desk is constructed. It could just be that the materials used flex a bit, which would be difficult to correct.

Got my setup in San Francisco finally nailed down. I have a stand to buy for the TB display instead of a book. Me and my wife both share this desk so she has a lot of stuff on it (if it was just me, it'd be so much cleaner). There's something interesting on the TB monitor ;)
Just a quick list of my tech products around my apartment:
27" 2011 iMac - 16GB RAM, 3.4GHz i7. 1 TB HDD. AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048MB graphic.
27" 2012 Apple Thunderbolt Display
15" 2011 Macbook Pro - 8GB Ram, i7.
13" 2012 Macbook Air (work) - 8GB RAM, 2.0GHz i7, 256GB SSD.
Black iPad 2
Black iPhone 4 (work)
Black iPhone 5
White iPhone 4S (wife)
Apple Wired Keyboard x 2
Apple Magic Mouse x 1
Apple Wired Mouse x 1
Apple Wireless Keyboard
Griffin Elevator Laptop stand (behind TB display)
Apple TV 3G
AirPort Extreme
Sony PS2 Slim (legacy gaming ftw)
Comcast HD DVR
ZyXEL Enterprise Router + Firewall
Dell XPS 420 (media server)
Acer Laptop (used for testing Windows things). I find virtual environments to be a pain in the butt.

I looked into those a few weeks ago. Tesco have the modular corners... but you can't buy the end bits as no sellers seem to sell them any more :P The filing cabinet pieces and shelves are unavailable for the foreseeable future at the moment :/ A shame as the whole Fraser range would make a good office - but without the desk(s) it sort of ruins it. The bookcases are nice, though.

I quite like the wall - would be quite dark though, but like the abstract style. Paint the skirting board too!

Love the clean design in here. Couldn't bare having two different sized monitors though aha
EDIT: Wait, is that one on the left a Syncmaster 2333? If so, same monitor as me!

It is pretty bright, just because my light is really bright and I have a big window!
The skirting, well, theres no point. I'd have to buy a huge paint tub and I have things covering the back wall now (couch and another desk)

Ah I see - wouldn't want the light (love natural light!) - but then that is solved with a large window.
Fair play on the skirting board, if it is covered it wouldn't bother me :L

I currently have a 23in monitor, but wanted to go dual screen. The issue is I couldn't have two monitors being blatantly different - and my current one is quite old now (1080p lcd, 1x dvi-d and vga)

Monitors would have been give or take £260 I think

Without the monitors it would come to around 750 if you add 3570k
seasonic 450 watts psu
1tb harddrive
and have an updated gfx card ( 7850)
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
The monitors were £100 each
http://www.ebuyer.com/432395-benq-gl2450e-led-monitor-24-1920-x-1080-fullhd-9h-l7ala-fpu
I already had the SSD, HDD and Power Supply, and I spent £720 (with £620 with monitors). That's including VAT and delivery however

Lmao make it £20
A better question, why would one buy two MacBook Pro's?
The 15" MBP is from work. I use it when I have to juggle design with development as my other MBP becomes sluggish when running IDE's with demanding software.
