:( Sadly the old F1 thread died at the end of the 2009 season. However the 2010 season is the most antisipated season in a long time with some Germany guy returning who aparently was fast in the past (can't remember his name), Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton at Mclaren, Fernado Alonso finally joining the red of Ferrari, 4 new teams, Bruno Senna finally making his debut, a new change in regulations, one new event and the return of the Canadian Gp. It is exciting. So far here, is the currently confrimed driver line ups for the up coming season that kicks off in the desert of Bahrain on the 12th March.
Ferrari -- Massa & Alonso
McLaren -- Button & Hamilton
Renault -- Kubica
Mercedes GP -- Rosberg & Schumacher
Red Bull -- Vettel & Webber
Torro Rosso --Buemi & Alguersari
Williams -- Barrichello & Hulkenberg
Force India -- Sutil & Luizzi
Campos Meta -- Senna
USF1 -- Lopez
Manor -- Glock & Di Grassi
Lotus -- Trulli & Kovalainen
Sauber -- Kobayashi & De La Rosa
So bascially have the 2010 F1 season news in here

Williams this moring ran a shake down of their 2010 challenger called the FW32. The shakedown took place at Silverstone. The car did not have the 2010 livery but shows a radical new design for the new season. Nico Hulkenberg was at the wheel

Schumacher is gonna fail me thinks. Everyone should just save themselves a lot of money, give up now and just say McLaren has won :P.
What was the new rule introduced this season? Can they not refuel or something? ^o)
it's going to be a really interesting season. admittedly i'm not a F1 guru, but it's up there with my favourite sports so i'm looking forward to it. :)

You think the Mercedes won't be good enough or Schumacher is just past it?
I'm gonna bet on it being between Lewis and Schumacher for the championship with vettel, webber, jenson, alonso and massa all in contention for 3rd place.

I just don't think he'll be as good as the young guns. Got nothing to base an opinion of Mercedes on. Gonna be a bit weird having two Mercedes teams, effectively.

No, I don't think the race (the FIA's camera's) is filmed in HD so its upto Bernie & Co. to get it not the BBC.

What's his brother Ralphy up to these days? Bring him back too! He's in DTM atm, not doing very well at it either. Mercedes gave him one of their best cars while far better drivers end up in older cars as a result.
As for High Definition it's still not being done, I suspect it's too expensive although I think Formula 1 would be the ultimate sport in HD, it'd be far more noticeable than the likes of Football and Rugby in HD. The best way to watch it is at home with laptop(s) so you can get the live leaderboard and live lap time graphs (Formula1.com).
US F1 and the new Spanish team will just flop, neither of them are taking it seriously or investing much at all. They still haven't sorted their drivers. I wonder if US F1 will even get off the ground tbh.
I can see Lotus definitely being up there, it seems to be going very well for them and Virgin shall do okay I expect although I'm still a bit unsure about them.

virgin took over Mannor Gp( new entrant) and Merecedes took over most of Brawn and renamed the team Mercedes Gp
I'm not sure, I think it still is Manor's, Virgin only own 20% of it but were allowed to rename/brand the team.
And that Lotus looks very nice, proberly the best livery.
Campos and USF1 are destined to fail so hopefully Stefan GP will be allowed to race instead.
EDIT: Or not...
FIA president Jean Todt has confirmed that teams may sit out three races in 2010 without penalty.
Bernie Ecclestone recently said that teams could skip opening races if necessary – mainly in reference to USF1 and Campos who are both struggling to be ready in time for the start of the F1 2010 season.

Hmm to conclude the last few weeks then. McLaren seems to be doing the best and is probably the best car. Ferrari & Red Bull are also meant to be good but not quite as good. Mercedes needs improvements says Rosberg and Schumacher, some work there it seems, Brawn has even claimed it's going to be a "Super Hard" season for them.
Virgin & Lotus quite far off the pace and the Virgin seems very unreliable so far, quite a few problems to say the least.
Campos has apparently secured funding now while things keep getting worse for US F1 and Stefan is still pushing hard for a grid place.

Lets wait and see! Barrichello also had the best car. Jenson is an underestimated driver and whilst Lewis is a very talented driver he has his flaws. I have to agree with the remarks about Button. He was just lucky last year that all the other cars weren't much good, there were also some excellent race strategies by Ross Brawn. There were some moves by him which made him better than the average driver, but he's certainly no legend.
I still maintain that McLaren should of gone for Raikonnen instead.

All F1 drivers are pretty good.... people seem to think Button is the best because he won the championship last year... they must of forgotten about his Honda days... he was always in the middle coming 14th/15th/16th. That Brawn GP car was the best car out of all them last year and way ahead of Mclaren and Ferrari.
This year I think it will be different I mean look... Schumacher.. a guy whos been out for 3 years and in a brand new car is ahead of Button in qualifying... thats saying something.
Callum.

Formula 1 drivers are set to continue a boycott about a decision to not give their personal physios grid access before the start of grands prix.
The build-up to the first race of the season in Bahrain was struck by a bizarre protest agreed amongst drivers for them to leave the grid and stand in the pitlane or garages so they could be with their physios.
A leading driver, who wished to remain anonymous, told AUTOSPORT that they were angry that F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone had refused to give grid access to their physios. The drivers have told him that they need their physios with them to ensure they are in perfect physical shape for the race.
It is believed Ecclestone has told the drivers that he believes there are too many people on the grid, and that if they want their physios there then it is up to the teams to sort them a pass - something that is not easy with outfits already having strict number limits for staff.
With the protest having gone ahead in Bahrain, the source said that the plan of action would likely continue for the next race in Australia too unless the physio's access to the grid is sorted.

Red Bulls seemed rather unreliable as ever, they need to sort that early on otherwise they're going to jeopardise any chance of having the title. Sutil continues to be unlucky, it's almost ridiculous the amount of accidents he has when he does well.
Excellent drive by Hamilton and Alonso too.
Overall though I thought it was an average race, it wasn't boring but it wasn't exciting either, perhaps it's a reflection of the track but these rule changes haven't exactly transformed the sport straight away. Only time will tell.

Oh the new teams were even worse than I expected, Hispania were just crap all over, they couldn't even do a proper pitstop. I think they're going to be a bit of a joke team who don't take it seriously (Much like US F1). Virgin were no better, their unreliability continued from the practises. Lotus however did finish the grand prix, but were still far off the pace.

Yes unfortunate about Lewis. Think being stitched up by Webber who reported him to the police last night didn't help.
Jenson did okay. it's a long race tomorrow though so I wouldn't write Lewis off and the Red Bull's reliability has to be in question particularly as both Vettel and Webber ride their engines and tyres hard. Off to bed now! :D

I thought that was dismal qualifying, it practically mirrored last weeks and there was never any doubt that Red Bull wouldn't get pole, Webber made various errors when trying for first so Vettel got it quite easily. Disappointing by Hamilton (Apparently he's under a lot of stress atm, split from his manager (dad), split from his girlfriend and his car has been impounded in Australia) but an excellent drive by Button. I honestly thought the whole thing was a waste of my time :(

Yes if the car is reliable I think he will be gone for a good lead at the start. He is hard on the engine and tyres though and the curbs here are a bit unforgiving especially of you go slightly off-line.
Can't see Lewis not making a valiant effort and can as you say choose his tyre strategy. Alonso will be contend with though and I wouldn't dismiss Jenson either. Webber? Well he could end up taking anybody out at the start then it really will be a free for all.

Great strategy by Jenson - excellent call for the change of tyres and managed them really well! Much better race than last week. Lewis did well to come back from being taken out but I do think he needs to manage his tyres better with the new rules. Whether the new rules are good is debatable but Lewis said his tyres has gone off and then blamed the team for bringing him in:S Great points for Maclaren though. What on earth happened to Michael Shumacher? The car can't be that bad as Rosberg got a good result.

I think he blamed them because they brought him in the wrong time. Depends how bad they were then and if he could of kept his 3rd or get passed the Renault for it to be a McLaren 1 and 2. But he did well this race since he started at 11. I'm not sure about the rules still but it was a muich better race and more overtaking and excitement there was then the first race of the season. We will just see how it goes! :P

The first lap incident which took out Nico Hulkenberg, Kamui Kobayashi & Sebastien Buemi was caused by Kobayashis front wing falling off, he then ploughed into the back of the Toro Rosso ripping off the rear wind and engine cover.

Phenomenal grand prix, thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. One of my favourite Button & Hamilton drives. It's a real shame it had to end that way for Hamilton seeing as it was all going so well before then. However I respect him for taking the risk and trying to over-take, and despite going off, he only lost one race position from it. That's what I like to see from Formula 1 and sadly I don't think many other drivers are anywhere near as exciting or brave as he is. It's a shame Alonso wasn't unleashed on Kubica though, that could of been interesting. Red Bull is unreliable as ever and I was pleasantly surprised by how well both Renaults were doing.
Kudos to the prediction that Kubica would do well on the first corner and that there would be rain on the fifth lap, both were loosely right :)

I'm surprised you both watch Practise, I've never seen the point to be honest, it's totally irrelevant to qualifying/race from what I've seen :P
Looking forward to tomorrow, hopefully McLaren do some good qualifying :D

Well traditionally Alonso isn't a wet weather driver so we will see. :D Hamilton maybe. Depends what mayhem is in front of them I guess. It really could be anybodys race in the wet.

I don't disagree with you there. He will most definitely but I am not sure he will do it in the wet. But we will see. :P :D

Another boring Qualifying session tbh, no one seems to be able to touch Red Bull and seeing as McLaren and Ferrari both majorly messed up it was never going to be that exciting. Some excellent drives by Hulkenburg, Rosberg and Sutil though :)
The Germans seem to dominate the front of the grid.
I'm gonna guess that Webber messes up early on tomorrow, why? Because he always does without fail :P

Will be a good one with the McLarens and the Ferraris storming through the field. I'm going for a Vettel win unless the car dosent hold up :)

Great race, well done to the McLaren team. Both Lewis and Jenson did fantastic, also congratulations to the Red Bull team for the 1-2. No rain this time round! :O
Williams are really very good with their driver choices, first Rosberg, now Hulk. Pleased Alonso's car screwed up so Hulk could get a point, once again a shame for Sauber, Koba could do wonders if they could improve the reliability.

this season looks all well and good, but I don't agree with these teams going bump, if they can't afford it, then why even try getting into f1? and secondly we need something a bit more in the racing, e.g. KERS (controversial I know)

Something does need to be done though I agree, while Australian and Malaysian grand prixs have been excellent, there's always the chance of another Bahrain-like grand prix (Most likely in China, Valencia and Singapore) so that worries me.

The main reason why we have had 2 great races is because of the weather and the faster cars coming through the field throughout the race, china is a terrible track imo and if there is no rain the race will be a bore. As far as overtaking and Kers go i believe something has to be done. Kers was a waste imo because only 2 teams used it from start to finish, with another two being Bmw and Renault ditching the system. Not all team can afford to develop such technology and I believe it isn't 'proper' racing when you overtake because of kers.

I don't like the idea of KERS providing a speed boost. However the technology that allows the energy to be harnessed is awesome. I wish it could just be used more sparingly just to power the car normally rather than effectively a NOS spurt.

Why couldn't it have been Legard? Hope they get one of the 5 Live blokes to stand in, they actually know what they're talking about and I usually listen to them anyway.
