The finishing move, 'S-T-F-U' will now be known by its original wrestling name, the 'STF'. Now only if he could do the move how its meant to be done

The DLC was Masked Kane attire, Y2J heel attire, Maria/Kelly Kelly santa attires, Edge Rated R attire, Black Rey attire, MVP SVR08 attire, Ted Dibiase JR, Evan Bourne, Super Crazy & Charlie Haas.

I think the next DLC will have Vladimir Kozlov, R-Truth etc

You missed out alternative MVP attire.

There is new commentary in the game Crag, Bourne, Crazy, DiBiase and Haas have new commentarys (and who-ever else is new in the game, I forgot).

Seeing as this thread has kinda turned into WWE news also, Senshi/Low Ki will apparently have the name Kawal in WWE. Why do WWE give out terrible names?

Wayne

I didn't, lol. Who else do you reckon will be in DLC? (superstars with # means possibly this time, unmarked superstars means maybe next time)

Superstars:

Mike Knox#
Ezekiel Jackson#
Hurricane Helms#
Primo Colon#
Sim Snuka

Alt Attires:
Santino Marella [Wearing all in one blue outfit]

This is the worse wrestling game I've played. The SvR serious was bad after the first, but this is just pathetic. I'm not even thinking about buying the game after the demo. Jesus, I watched a video of a Royal Rumble and it's the same imported commentary & lame jokes. Should be a free game in XboxLIVE Arcade.

Thing is, im just guessing, but its not meant to be aimed at the people who liked SVR. Its meant to be an arcade type of game for the older audience who were around then. Its a kind of niche market. I have not heard ANY commentary from SVR.

If you want the worst wrestling game, may I reccomend TNA iMPACT or WWE Wrestlemania 21.

Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 Expected This Year
The hits just keep on coming.
by Ryan Geddes

US, May 6, 2009 - In an earnings call with investors today, THQ execs said they hope to release the next installment in the Smackdown vs. Raw series later this year.

Predictably titled Smackdown vs. Raw 2010, the upcoming wrestling title follows a solid (but not stellar) showing in the series. Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 received a 7.9 from IGN PlayStation editor Greg Miller. Will the next entry fare better? So far we know nothing about SVR10 except its title and anticipated release window. When we know more, so will you.

How come in things like SmackDown 2 (even SD1, if I remember correctly, or was that just boiler room brawl?), falls count anywhere had tons of locations, yet in current games, its just the ring and stage?

SD2 will always be my favourite wrestling game, had so much fun on it.

Wayne
04-07-2009, 12:59 AM
SD2 had such a huge roster, it was awesome. I reckon they can't be bothered to detail all the other locations. On the latest smackdown game, they have 2 backstage areas, that's just backstage and the locker room. I don't think they include other backstage areas such as GM's office or streets or boiler room anymore because WWE don't have such anywhere falls matches anymore because of it being watered down for the kids. -.-

Most of the backstage areas were boring and uninspired anyway. Nothing beats the old ladder matches from the old games. Especially with local multiplayer.

Wayne
04-07-2009, 10:23 AM
Yeah they were uninspired, but some backstage areas in SD2 were alright I thought. It had backstage, loading area, outside area, restaurant, locker room, dressing room, McMahon's office, kitchen, bar, experience and parking lot. It was weird though because you hit your opponent with a fire extinguisher or chair or something and they get straight back up. :(

Sly

Cm Punk vs Homicide had the best falls count anywhere matches ever!
My favourite memories include:
In the middle of a hurricane punk locks homicide out of the building!
Homicide puts punks head in a urinal!
Punk and homicide bring the fight to a strip club where punk uses a pole to do a 619 style move on homicide!

Wayne

Yeah, you can buy a PAL version from Italy I think which would work on PAL PS3s. Apparently gameplay is too difficult because there are so many moves you can do, so the button configuration is like early WWF games like WWF Attitude where you tap lots of buttons sequentially.

Then again, there are loads of wrestlers you can edit to make them look like any wrestler you want, from WCW, WWE, WWF, ECW, WWWF etc. I think there are over 500 wrestlers you can edit.

I'm sure THQ claimed that WWE SD vs RAW 09 would have lots of DLC to make the game as up to date as possible. Apparently WWF Attitude quickly had to change the roster at the last minute before release because they removed Steven Regal, Test and some other jobbers in order to add Big Boss Man, Godfather and Christian.

Big Boss Man would've been useless in that game.

He's in it and I only use him for his finisher, bossman slam. Quite like that.

I always liked the Bossman Slam animation in No Mercy. How you could catch them off th ropes with it.

I have been on SVR09 today and I noticed a lot of superstars that are no longer in WWE, so I thought they could be removed for SVR10 and replaced with the newer superstars. Here's a list anyway:

Ashley Massaro
Big Daddy V
Boogeyman
Candice Michelle
Chuck Palumbo
Elijah Burke
Hardcore Holly
JBL
Lance Cade
Mr. Kennedy
Paul London
Ric Flair
Tazz
Trevor Murdoch
Umaga
Victoria

16 superstars as above are no longer in the WWE, so here is the list of 16 people that could be added to the roster for SVR10. *This is only a mere prediction, it is not a fake confirmation, therefore it's not official*

Alicia Fox
David Hart Smith
Dolph Ziggler
Evan Bourne
Ezekial Jackson
Eve
Gail Kim
Goldust
Gregory Helms
Jack Swagger
Jamie Noble
Kung Fu Naki
Maryse
Mike Knox
Natalya
Paul Burchill
Primo Colon
Ricky Ortiz
Rosa Mendes
R-Truth
Ted DiBiase
Tyson Kidd
Vladimir Kozlov

Above are 22 superstars that could be added to the roster, but some aren't that active at the moment, such as Kung Fu Naki, Ezekial, Jamie Noble etc, so below is yet another list of the inactive/pointless superstars that could be removed from the SVR09 roster and won't appear in SVR10:

Curt Hawkins
Jillian Hall
Layla El
Zack Ryder

I was also thinking of new attires for such superstars as:

Brian Kendrick (The Brian Kendrick attire)
Carlito (Long tights attire)
Jeff Hardy (Face paint)
Jesse (Gangster style attire)

I was finally thinking that if superstars such as Edge, Batista, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker are still inactive during the upcoming months to the game's release date, maybe they should just include those in a DLC package to save room for other superstars that are active during the time of the game's release.

Do you like it ?

It's cool, but the Inferno match could be better. Is there anything you can do besides throw them over the top? And who the hell would want to play as this Tony military guy? I'm on Cena's Road to WrestleMania. Already completed Jericho's and The Undertaker's. Anything cool and new in any parts of the game you could tell me about?

Man, this is going back around 10 years i reckon, but I think it was good. I remember doing the season mode two-player with my brother! And you could change at the end/halfway through the season :D

From IGN:
Editing:
- In the latest SVR game, you're going to be able to create fully 3D characters, entrance videos, finishers, logos, color schemes for existing WWE stars, and even your own stories to play through. As is that wasn't impressive enough, the hook is that you'll be able to upload all of these creations to the SVR servers so that the world can search for them, rate them, download them, and share ideas.

Main Menu
- The main menu is where you'll get to tackle the first-ever SVR tutorial. Rather than just have you watch a video or play a game of Simon Says, the facility is packed with more than 100 moves and events for you to master.

Gameplay
- As you move around the ring, different tasks pop up in the corner of the screen in an attempt to teach you the things you can do in a given area. If you're standing in the middle of the ring, the task might be as simple as taunting, but if you're coming up on your opponent -- who can stand there like a punching bag or be changed to one of the game's difficulties -- the game might try to teach you how to pull off a grapple move. As you perform these tasks, the move gets checked off on the screen and disappears so that it won't pop up while you're learning again. You can turn the tips off or reset them so everything pops up again, but the idea is to give newcomers an idea of how to play and to give seasoned vets a refresher course while sprinkling in some of the game's newest offerings.

Further Gameplay Improvements
- When I took on Triple H as Chris Jericho in a falls count anywhere match, the ref followed the fight around the barricade and up the entrance ramp -- he didn't stay in the middle of the ring like a goon. When we were brawling around the squared circle, the camera angles were actually cool and not way too close and/or obscured by barricades like last year. When I slapped the hell out of John Morrison's chest as Edge, his chest actually got red from flesh on flesh contact.

HUDs
- The big on-screen HUDs are gone. Now, the matches have a TV style feel to them from the location of the bout popping up during entrances to the "WWE Live" logo that appears in the lower left corner of the screen as the match begins to the WWE copyright that pops up at the end of the fight -- mind you, this is all happening during exhibition matches.

HUDs
- Anyway, momentum is now displayed by a small halo around the feet of your Superstar. There's a blue outline that slowly builds as you pull off suplexes and drop kicks. When you've earned enough for your Signature Move, an "S" in a yellow circle appears on the meter, and when you've got your finisher, an "F" in a red circle appears down there. There's still limb damage and such to worry about, but you'll need to watch how the Superstars are acting and not some colored silhouette.

Controls
- In terms of controls, 2010 played pretty much exactly the same as 2009, but there were more additions and polished moments. There's one shoulder button for reversing. It'll pop up above your character's head to give you that window of opportunity to block a punch and fight back. Thing is, you get just one shot at it, so spamming the reversal button isn't going to help anyone but your opponent. I came across another interesting addition in a first blood match as Edge against John Morrison. When I pushed Morrison to the mat, a right stick icon with a blood outline popped up on my momentum meter. When I hit it, Edge knelt down and began jacking John in the head to try and draw blood. Similarly, when I was getting kicked to death as Triple H, a shoulder button combo appeared on my meter that commanded Hunter to roll out of the ring.

Graphics
- The models and moves look better than ever but they still do look like last year's; these little camera cuts and ring rope physics make the experience feel fresher and more realistic.

CAW Improvements
- Create-A-Superstar is back, but this time all the parts are in 3D, which means ties will no longer be painted to your character's chest and so on. There are more than 1,000 parts in this year's mode and it's packing a new interface, super-quick load times, and more.

CAW Parts
- When THQ was paging through the hairstyles, all of the options popped up in a second and as the player scrolled through the hairpieces on the character's head, the longer styles swayed back and forth with a surprisingly fluid animation. Rather than restrict you to a certain number of layers as in years past, SVR 2010 gives each item a point value and only allows you to use so many points (48 is what I saw when fooling with the mode) for your guy or gal. The goal of this overhaul is to make the CAW look as good as the real WWE talent. During the demo, I didn't see any that accomplished this goal -- hats still look goofy -- but these created character definitely look better than the offerings of previous titles.

Character Pose Before Match
- Plus, you can even choose your character's pose for the versus screen. There are 18 options ranging from intimidating to hilarious and it's about time we got that choice.

Paint Tool Customization
- WWE SVR 2010 packs the Paint Tool. Here, you can create original art that you can then slap on a piece of clothing or straight to someone's body as a tattoo. In action, the tool looks a lot like the paint tool in Fire Pro Wrestling and packs a bunch of tools -- pen, eraser, paint can, etc. -- as well as a color spectrum on the left side of the screen with the canvas on the right. This is a freehand option, so you're free to create comic book logos, sports icon, and whatever else you can think up. These icons will appear online and, again, you can upload them for other people to download and use.

Superstar Customization
- You can choose an existing Superstar and create three alternate outfits for him. Now, this isn't a create mode so you can't put the Undertaker in a tiny pair of briefs; you're just changing the colors of the existing clothing the character is wearing. Each Superstar has an individual menu based on his outfit, and you can go in and tweak it however you like. This should be huge for fans looking to keep their roster looking like the one they see on TV each week.

Create A Finisher Improvements
- When it comes to Create-a-Finisher, 30 percent more moves have been added to the front grapple and there's a new position for diving attacks. Beyond that, you're still stringing 10 parts together for your move, you can apply it to a CAW or existing Superstar, and you can choose from a list of announcer-ready names or deem the action whatever you like via the virtual keyboard. During the presentation, THQ built a top rope finisher and strung together God knows how many flips. Aside from making moves like this that are completely impossible, you can also change the trajectory of your leaping finisher so that you're getting close to touching the rafters or coming in low and lazy -- a dotted arc appears on the screen so you can track the move.

Story Designer Mode
- The craziest thing THQ is trying out this year is WWE Story Designer. There was no hands-on with this option -- I just saw a video and listened to Ledesma talk about it -- but the idea is that you get to work from the Gorilla Position and create your own storylines. When you start a storyline, you'll choose your show -- you can have this feud last for one show or two years -- and then pick if you want to work on a match or a cutscene. If you go the match route, you'll pick your competitor, difficulty, win condition, who is running-in, who that guy's running in for, who the other fighter's help will be and so on. You can use some of these options, all of them, or none of them -- it's your choice. On top of that, you can go in and set limb damage for the Superstars to reflect whatever beatdown is going on in your story.

Story Designer Mode Continued
- In SVR 2010, you're going to have more than 100 scenes to choose from. Now, these scenes are things like contact signings in the middle of the ring, limos pulling up backstage, people getting hit by cars, and a car exploding . You'll cast up to five people in these scenes, pick where it's going down (in the ring, backstage, etc.), and move the camera all over the place and play with zooms and such. What was nifty was watching THQ go in and change the emotions of these characters -- making JR smile after getting yelled at in the middle of the ring and then going and changing it to frown in a split-second. You can choose what's playing on the Titantron, you can have the camera locked on a specific target, and you can add text so that your actors are saying the right stuff to push your story forward. Again, create an awesome story, and feel free to upload it so others can download it and enjoy.

Speed Improvements
- One thing that's standing out to me was just how fast everything was loading. I already talked about the creation bits coming up really quick, but matches were loading quickly, the CAF moved super-fast, and the video I saw made previewing an uploaded move before downloading it look like a breeze.

Road To Wrestlemania Improvements
- Although I didn't get to see it, Road to WrestleMania is back with six new stories, one of which is a Diva tale and one of which is for your created Superstar and supposedly will feature more decisions for you to make and more branching plots for you to explore as well as replay for different endings.

[I]From Gamespot

After Match Highlights
-In keeping with the game's customization theme, it will be easy to record your own match highlights this time around. At the end of a match, you'll be able to see a list of defining moments in the match you just completed. You can choose to rewatch any of these defining moments--anything from bloodying your opponent to sending him (or her) through a stack of tables--and save them for later use.

Superstar Customization
- For existing WWE Superstars, there's a "Superstar Threads" tool to customize their outfits--such as changing up the colors of Rey Mysterio's masks and ring attire to something completely of your choosing.

Controls
- Other control changes include a new pinfall kickout system borrowed from THQ's Legends of WrestleMania game (which requires you to fill up a meter in order to kick out of a pin), a load of new moves available to players when standing on the apron (such as Triple H yanking people into the ring, or Rey Mysterio Jr. performing a springboard leap into the ring), four "strong" grapple holds available to players (up from two in last year's game)--collar and elbow, side headlock, wrist lock, and rear waste lock, each of which triggers a different set moves. In addition, you'll be able to manually transition between grapples by holding down the right bumper and moving the right stick.

Console Differences
- On the Wii, the frenetic pace and motion-based gameplay of last year's game have been nearly completely jettisoned this time around in favor of a more realistic game speed and a control scheme that more closely resembles that found in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. In fact, producers told us that the goal was to make the Wii version as comparable to the other versions of the game as possible. As a result, SVR 2010 for the Wii will have a feature set that is virtually identical to the other versions, including the extensive creation options like create-a-finisher, the upgraded create-a-wrestler, and the all-new story designer. The controls in the Wii version will be more button-centric than ever before--and the aforementioned motion controls have been largely done away with, mainly because they were so unpredictable in the previous game. That said, you'll have lots of options for control--including the default Wii Remote and Nunchuk, as well as alternate control schemes using the GameCube controller or the Wii Classic Controller. THQ is still searching for an ideal DS solution for the SmackDown series, and this year represents another experiment. Game speed has been upped from previous games, and in the ring, the gameplay takes place from an elevated camera, with a perspective that is almost top-down. Unlike previous games, which used the touch screen almost exclusively, this year's game on the DS will use buttons to control the action in the ring. The big addition for the DS version will be a collectible card system. You'll earn cards in season mode, either by winning matches or by doing favors for WWE Superstars you'll encounter along the way, and you'll have a deck of cards to choose from before a match. You'll go into a match with a handful of cards and can activate them in the match, like run-ins from other wrestlers, or for specialized boosts that will make your grapples temporarily unblockable. In addition to the match boost cards, you'll earn cards that will unlock goodies like new match types, create-a-wrestler parts, and more. The DS version will also have a story mode that will have you interacting with WWE Superstars, and even Vince McMahon himself. The 12-chapter story will be semi-open-ended, allowing you to travel across multiple locales, such as the gym (where you can train your created character to improve his or her stats), the hospital (where you can nurse your wounds), and Mr. McMahon's office (where you can be berated by the boss). Of course, you'll be wrestling in tons of matches as well, as you play through a storyline that is sure to have plenty of double-crosses, body slams, and, presumably, lots and lots of exclamation marks.

Commentary
- Unfortunately, Smackdown commentators are Tazz & JR, not Todd Grisham and JR but RAW has Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler. ECW has Joey Styles and Matt Striker. It's quite annoying how Tazz will be commentating on matches, especially how he isn't even in the WWE now, he's in TNA.

It is the Classic WCW title in the game, yes.

I'm optimistic about this years game, the new features look like they work well, and little things such as training mode looks good and is similar to FIFA's "Arena" when you start the game.

I was talking to Misawa recently and we were discussing how better the game would be if they just tweaked all the things that made the game great and they took out, or if they just fixed things, and this years game seems like a lot of that, for example, one of my biggest gripes with the online mode was that you could not use designs on your Created Wrestlers, this year, they have got rid of that, AND added a design creator.

I'm sure it's the WCW title from SVR09.

About WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 – Creative and Online Freedom

http://www.code-x.ws/svr2010/screens/images/ps3-360/15.jpg

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 will introduce a new Create-a-Superstar Mode, including a fresh look, all-new 3-D parts and improved graphical quality, allowing players to create Superstars and Divas who are comparable in quality with their in-game WWE counterparts. Adding to the creative mix, a new Paint Tool will enable detailed creation of tattoos, logos and other unique designs, while a franchise-first Superstar Threads feature will let players create alternate ring gear for Superstars and Divas by customizing the colors of shirts, pants, face paint, elbow pads, boots and more. The game's Create-a-Finisher Mode will now let players create acrobatic and gravity-defying diving attacks from the top turnbuckle, as well as move their creations to new heights by adjusting the trajectory. In addition, the mode will deliver an extensive assortment of new moves from the front grapple position.

Taking creativity even further, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 will also mark the debut of the WWE Story Designer. In this new mode, players will embrace a directorial role to create and customize their own storylines and cut scenes, including the ability to select talent and scene locations, write their own dialogue, adjust camera angles, select from over 100 scene animations, determine talent emotions and much more. Players will also be able to construct each night's show card with matches, unique match stipulations, interference events and other story twists and turns.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 is set to empower players with not only extensive creative freedom but the ability to share their gameplay experiences as well. For the first time in franchise history, the WWE Community Creations interface will enable players to upload their creations online, including created Superstars and Divas, story designs, finishing moves, entrance movies and highlight reels, and share them with others around the world. Players may also download created content via keyword search engine from other users for use both online and offline. In addition, players will be able to tag their creations with search terms, as well as leave ratings, allowing for ease of use in searching the robust database for the most popular – or even the most obscure – created items.

About WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 – Additional Gameplay Features

http://www.code-x.ws/svr2010/screens/images/ps3-360/29.jpg

In addition to its extensive creative and online offerings, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 will include a number of key franchise updates. The WWE Training Facility will provide players with a franchise-first in-game tutorial, making it simple for both long-time fans and newcomers to get helpful gameplay tips and practice moves with their favorite Superstars and Divas. The game's Road to WrestleMania story-based mode, introduced last year to high acclaim by consumers and press alike, returns with interactive cut scenes showcased within six brand new storylines, including a Create-a-Superstar storyline and a Divas storyline. In addition, a robust talent roster will include more than 60 playable Superstars and Divas, many of whom will make their videogame debut, as they represent the Raw, SmackDown and ECW brands. A high-profile soundtrack rounds out the gameplay experience, including "Still Unbroken," the new single from Lynyrd Skynyrd's upcoming album, God & Guns, as well as songs from artists such as Skillet, Sick Puppies, Adelita's Way and Trivium.

About WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 – Wii and Nintendo DS

Delivering a button-based, simulation-style experience for the first time on the platform, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 for Wii will support the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, Classic Controller and the Nintendo GameCube controller, allowing players to get to the heart of the WWE videogame experience in a number of ways. In addition, the game will offer a broader features list to the Wii gaming audience, including a more robust move set, more match types, Create-a-Superstar, Create-a-Finisher, WWE Story Designer, Road to WrestleMania and more.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 for Nintendo DS will also offer a more simulation-based experience, introducing streamlined controls that take advantage of the DS directional pad and eliminate use of the stylus. Throughout gameplay, players will earn a variety of collectible cards to gain power-ups and unlock content, including arenas, backstage areas and Superstar profiles. In Story Mode, players will take their created Superstars on an action-packed journey through all WWE brands, participating in training mini-games and interactive cut scenes while earning new moves and customization parts along the way. Its your world now…THQ/Yukes allows you to unleash your creativity in the latest iteration of the Smackdown franchise.

Yesterday was the day myself and all of the members of the SVR Nation were waiting for. The official unveiling of Smackdown vs RAW 2010. Of course we saw the exclusive announcement on the newest features in the series from Gamespot on Thursday but we wanted to know more. And if you’re like me, you wanted every single piece of detail you could get your hands on.

After a nice video presentation hosted by Cory Ledesma and a good few hours of hands-on time with the game I am happy to say this is probably THQ’s most solid effort to date since Here Comes The Pain.

At first glance you might walk by a television monitor and say…oh it looks the same as last year. But until you actually sit down with the game and play it you’re truly missing out on what THQ has brought to the table this year with the game.

First off when you start the game you are taken into the “SVR 2010 Training Room” which is completely copied off of Florida Championship Wrestling (WWE’s Developmental Territory). From there you can press start at anytime to bring up the menu. Think NBA Live with the court shoot around at the beginning before you bring up the menu and you pretty much get the idea.

The game this year looks beautiful and crisp, much more so on 360 than the PS3. It’s obvious they are still having problems on Sonys console for what reason, I have no idea. Once you get into the game you get to see all the cool presentation features they added in this year. When a match starts they will show you a graphic to tell you where the arena is just like on TV. The bell rings early during the first entrance before Lillian begins her announcing. Such as when Morrison poses on the stage or after Edge’s pyro finishes up. Each match is sponsored by something, such as THQ, WWEShop, etc. I would think this will be a good way for THQ to make marketing money online this year by advertising something quickly before each match. Only a few seconds and its kinda like a transition load screen that goes by really quick. Not bad at all.

In the match they throw down the “WWE Live” logo in the corner which allows you to feel like you are watching a real WWE broadcast. The camera angles throughout the match are absolutely awesome and the best I have ever seen in a wrestling game to date. The camera changes constantly during the bout and keeps things fresh but it never gets annoying. Yukes and THQ did a solid job on the camera angles this year.

As far as the HUD goes, its gone…long gone. Well, unless you count the little half halo like circle underneath your wrestler. That builds a momentum meter (SLOWLY I might add, no quick finishers this year. You gotta work for it.) to allow you to do your signature and or finisher manuever. One of the cool things I saw was that most likely after hitting your signature move you were immediately set up to be able to perform your finisher giving the game a more realistic WWE feel. Also, I don’t know if it was just this build or this is how its going to be in the final game, but having your signature or finisher reversed does not cause you to lose it. Finishers are still on a time limit but signatures can be wiped out just by your opponent turning momentum back in his favor. I thought it worked really well. By the way, the RKO reversal where Orton goes up for it and you throw him forward looks great!

The characters in this years game move more realistic and fluid than I have ever seen in games past. While you still see the usual collision issues that have haunted the series for years I noticed less of them in my time playing this years game than I have in years past. Its proof positive that Yukes takes the internet criticism to heart when they go back to the drawing board every year to plan out the next iteration of the franchise.

While my time was limited with the create modes I was pleasantly surprised with the look of all the parts in this years game. The character models look better than ever and are the closest I think we will ever see to them looking like the WWE counter-parts. The new flying Create a Finishers looked amazing and I watched Brad create a hilarious one that started as a 450 and turned into a cannonball like collision. Cool stuff.

After everything I saw, I walked away from LA this weekend with a smile on my face overly impressed with this years Smackdown game. The game is now being released three weeks ahead of schedule on October 20th (October 23rd for the UK). So get ready people, we are less than two months away from the greatest Smackdown in years. It’s our world now.

Tazz is confirmed (commentating): http://www.code-x.ws/svr2010/screens/images/ps3-360/6.jpg

Fans of THQ's annual series SmackDown vs. Raw can look forward to plenty of new features for the upcoming SVR 2010 edition. It's hard not to get excited by an updated roster of more than 60 wrestlers (including WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin -- an exclusive download for those who pre-order the game at Gamestop), six new Road to Wrestlemania character storylines, and a completely overhauled creation/customization system. From their previous games, THQ learned that that SVR players use their own created wrestlers "three times more" than the default roster," so they want to give you the tools to create your own unique game experiences in SmackDown vs. Raw 2010, and, at the same time, build a community to share videos, custom Superstars, and more.

THQ, working with developer Yukes Yokohama, rebuilt the Create-A-Superstar mode to make player-created wrestlers look as good as the real ones. This means better quality body textures, a larger selection of attire and accessories, and the development of "free-flowing parts" (no more jackets or ties that look like they were painted on characters' bodies). You'll find over 1000 parts to help create your wrestlers. There is also a new Paint Tool mode, which allows you to design art for logos, tattoos, or on the wrestlers' clothing. For the fan wondering if "Green Lantern" could beat Triple H, that dream is oh so much closer.

Within Create-A-Superstar, THQ beefed up the Create-A-Finisher mode by adding the ability to customize top-turnbuckle jumps by stringing together a set of up to 10 actions, similar to the custom grapple finisher introduced in last year's game. The mode allows for some over-the-top superhuman moves -- imagine a Shooting Star Press, now imagine your wrestler flipping through the air five times before landing on his opponent. That would be, like, five times the damage! Not really, it's probably the same amount of hurt, but it sure does look flashy.

Another first for the SvR series is Superstar Threads. This allows you to customize the outfits of any WWE Superstar on the game's roster. Are you tired of the Undertaker's drab look? Brighten him up by sending him to the ring in an all-pink outfit, but prepare for the 'Taker to frown a little as he reacts to his wardrobe change.

But THQ's most ambitious addition to SVR 2010 is the new WWE Story Designer, which lets you create your own storylines. You can customize pretty much anything, from an episode of Monday Night RAW to up to two years worth of WWE events. For each show you plan the matches, create cut-scenes, script dialogue for backstage confrontations, and you can even have your created wrestlers interact with the WWE roster. The story designer is so detailed, that if you want to rig a car to explode backstage as John Cena walks by it, YOU CAN. Boom, indeed, goes the dynamite. And if Cena has a steel cage match later in the episode, you can even set his attribute levels to reflect the injuries he sustained as a result of that sensational plot twist.

Other things you can do in Story Designer include changing the difficulty levels of wrestling matches, choosing backgrounds (garage, office, hallway) for cut-scenes, adding emotions to make your characters smile or scowl, allowing wrestlers to interfere with matches, and much more. The near-daunting amount of customization will keep even the most hardcore fans producing their own shows and storylines for hours.

You can share all of this content -- from custom wrestlers to your self-booked events -- online. Spending all that time creating your own wrestling universe wouldn't be fun if you couldn't show it off to your fellow SVR fans, so 2010 supports uploading and downloading content through the game's Community Creations option. Downloading content uses a keyword search function to find user-created items. For example, if you want to find a custom Andre the Giant you can type his name in the search field and then preview the results before choosing your favorite version of the Eighth Wonder of the World.

For those players who'd rather stick to using the game's own Superstars, THQ is working closely with WWE writers to develop six new Road to Wrestlemania storylines; including, for the first time, a Divas story (so step into some sexy boots and try to win the title). Each story branches off, based not only on whether you win or lose matches, but also on decisions you make in different cut-scenes. With six different storylines that each contain multiple ways to play, players have plenty of rasslin' to keep them busy.

With SVR 2010, it looks like THQ is bringing back the smooth game play of last year's edition, but adding an amped-up-on-steroids creation mode. Let's face it, WWE fans have seen more than a few groan-inducing storylines in their time (Necrophiliac Kane? Ugh.), but now you have the opportunity to produce your own shows to share with the world.

Today, I got the chance to check out a pre-release of the new WWE: Smackdown Vs. RAW 2010 video game from THQ, released October 20th in North America and October 23rd in Europe. I have to say that this game has got a complete overhaul in my opinion and looks much better than the previous years versions of the game. Many new additions to this game include no HUD bar, a WWE Live Icon during play giving it the current WWE authentic feel and many more, we will talk more about these soon.

The game engine seems faster to load things up than previous versions, but the main talking point in this game this year is creativity allowing the user to create various things within the WWE world. The creative WWE Gamer will enjoy these features as will the new gamers also, whereas the gamers who just want to play for fun will enjoy the new influx of wrestlers on the talent roster as well as better overall gameplay and A.I.

I got to try out 3 different things of the game today and I will give them to you in detail now:

1.) Superstar Threads: From only getting 2 hours to play around with this pre-release version, this was one of my favourites and most fun aspects of the game. I edited a few wrestlers attires such as giving Rey Mysterio an American look to his attire with red, white and blue to giving MVP a Green & Black attire (for those DX Fans). It's a really fun addition and allows users to choose what kind of attires they would like to see on their favourite superstars or what kind of really bad attires they would like to see on their most hated superstars. I really liked this feature and can't wait to try it out when the game is fully released.

2.) Roster & New Additions: In the pre-release version I would say there was approximately 20 wrestlers for us to try our hands on. The regulars like John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Randy Orton, The Undertaker and Chris Jericho are in this game but the game has new additions this year from the likes of Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Vladimir Kozlov, Christian and many others. I wont spoil too much but entrances in this year's game actually look the way they are supposed to for certain superstars. Plus a new addition to entrances should have many creating (again playing on the creativity) various entrances and videos (which they can use for another feature) to put to good use.

3.) Story Mode: Last but my no means least, I got to try my hands on the all new Creative Story Mode, where YOU the player create various storylines for a brand and create the line-ups for PPV's. Fans of GM Mode made their voices heard when GM Mode was taken away in Smackdown Vs. RAW 2009 and believe me when I say this, fans of GM Mode will really enjoy this feature. I booked an episode of RAW which features various backstage segments as I didnt focus as much on the matches. I wanted to see what was available to me. This has great features such as a particular superstar getting run down by a car, the car exploding, a romantic on-screen relationship, some DX skits and EVEN THE ARRIVAL OF MR. MCMAHON himself to the building, which leads me to believe that he will be a playable character this year. The mode is absolutely fantastic and will have fans (including myself) coming back to play it over and over again with various segments to use. I believe a pack with more segments in Downloadable Content (DLC) will make the player want to play this even more, as due to what I was able to play around with, it really looked like a great addition to a great game.

Based on that, I hope you will enjoy the game as much as I will as I await the release date on October 23rd in Europe. Props go to THQ for making an awesome game this year, quite possibly one of the best I have played in the past 6 years.

According to a fan who attended a voiceover session in Los Angeles this past weekend for WWE’s SmackDown vs. RAW 2010 video game, the following names are set to be included in the next game. Keep in mind that more names than these will be in the game, but these are just the ones they recorded chants for this past weekend. The person attending the voiceover session was verified by Prowrestling.net. The person, who remains anonymous for confidentiality reasons, says they read about eight pages of chants and stuff for the matches and wrestlers. The guy running the voiceover session was the former ring announcer for MTV’s Wrestling Society X promotion. Indy wrestler The Human Tornado was also there and they had to chant “Tornado” for the create-a-wrestler nicknames.

Here are the names:

Ricky Steamboat, possibly Bruiser Brody (”Bruise em up, Bruiser, Beat em up” was the chant so this is assumed), Evan Bourne, Vladimir Kozlov, Trish Stratus, Ted DiBiase Sr, Dusty Rhodes, Christian, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Santino Marella, Goldust, The Brian Kendrick, Primo, Carlito, Randy Orton, MVP, Maryse, Big Show, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, John Cena, Edge, Chris Jericho, The Great Khali, Mike Knox, Ezekiel Jackson and most interesting of all, “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Regarding Savage, the person assumes Savage will be in the game because the chant they had to record was “Let’s go Macho, let’s go.”

It looks alright... I'll probably buy it, play it for two weeks and leave it to rot, like all the other WWE games.
