Before you watch them I'll point out that the first movie is rather similar to the first six episodes of the series but the second one is almost completely original. Both movies are fairly straight forward and so far there have been no 'mind games' as you put it. As I said before, they are not at all confusing.

Ryuzaki, I seem to have the curse again. This time not with Welcome to the NHK, but with Evangelion. I can only find volume 3, 5, 6 and 11 for sale online. The rest have disappeared off the face of the earth. I bought the first two volumes last year and the rest weren't hard to find at all, but now... what gives!? Why does this always happen with manga I want to buy!

Also... I just saw something terrifying on ebay. The NHK novel is going for £40 and the auction still has over a day left! What has become of the world. I think its safe to say the novel is most definitely out of print now and is never coming back. Such a shame... I want to read it sooooooooooo much! Back in the day when I was trying to find the first volume of manga all I came across was the novel and now it is the other way around. I should have bought the novel back then!

I don't think there exists a shop that sells just manga (other than in Japan and Korea). All of the manga shops I have been to in London sell comics and graphic novels as well as manga and of course Forbidden Planet sell a lot of other things too. Their manga is extremely overpriced, but they do have an impressive collection.

Anyway, I found a download link (http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=233250&show=0#post2) for the NHK novel. I may just print off all the pages and create my own cheap bootleg version as I would much rather read a novel in book form than on a computer screen.

The novel was published by Tokyopop not even three years ago. They give up way too easy. The sales couldn't have been that bad - I swear NHK is one of their best selling series.

chris i tried to watch mind games, i really did. But i just cant get past the animation. It's absolutely horrible, worse than claymore. I tried to wait it out and just see if i could survive a few more minutes, but i couldnt. Especially after watching something as beautiful as TTGL

Mind Game has some of the most fluently wonderful animation ever seen in an anime and it is also one of Studio 4℃'s most expensive productions. Animation and design are not the same thing. In Claymore you don't like the medieval look and character designs, in Mind Game I am pretty sure it is the same thing. What you don't like is not the animation, it is the design. Neverthless, you are rather narrow minded to accept nothing but the norm. If you don't like it then fair enough, we are all entitled to our opinions, but to say the animation is bad is utter bull.

Also, Mind Game's final sequence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yf1qvAE_epc) is the most epic piece of imagery ever conceived by man. Your loss.

I can usually see past the gore and disgustingness in a film, anime or whatever if it has something else to offer. For example - Oldboy is a very violent film, but I love it because the plot is so thick and the characters are interesting. Violence is a part of both of them and in that way it works and I can accept it, but in things like Saw where its entire focus is just gore and gore alone I really don't like it.

I just spent the last hour searching the internet for the Evangelion manga. I already own volume 1 and 2 and just bought volume 5, 6 and 11. I'll get volume 3 tomorrow once my card details update on one of the websites and I may buy 4, 7 and 8 from a website which ships from an unspecified European location. Thats just leaves me volume 9 and 10 which have been very evasive.

I also found out BLAME! is no longer in print. Tokyopop cancelled it after only two years of publication. What was the point!?

Wow, over two years down the line and they finally unban you out of sympathy. You had to wait until you had matured before you actually got anywhere. Fail much. Although I am happy to see L again.

Also, I figured that would be the case. Men seriously under-rate romances though, some are absolute materpieces.

I watch a lot of foreign movies, mainly Japanese, Korean and Chinese. I am a huge, huge, huge fan of Japanese cinema and a lot of the time I do find the them more interesting than anime, but I could never choose between one or the other. My second favourite movie of all time is Korean. :8

The female character in the video is the very embodiment of annoyingness and not to mention incredibly cliche. It seems like an anime that takes itself too seriously with stupid amounts of drama when really its just an ecchi series. I hate those kind of shows.

Its true tho single series threads dont work, sure people will post every now and then but its this thread everyone comes on to talk about stuff. FMA is over, done. We have to wait for the movie now. There is going to be no talking until then and even if there is, people will most likely post it on here.

There is not enough people to have single thread forums look at the people who post here theres only maybe 4-5 of us who regulary post on here. To be frank its just a habbo forum.. we really only need 1-3 threads. Anime, Manga, Collection. If you want single series threads then you should go to a forum that is based around anime and manga.

Since you used FMA as an example so will i.
Out of the 5 People who regular post, 4 of us have seen it. We've spoke about episodes when they have come out and now its finished. The ending speaks for itself there is no more to discuss. The movie won't be out for ages and theres no point in even talking about the subject until theres information about it revealed. And if a new member was to come along and talk about it then he can do so, but he can choose to do it in here or in the FMA topic. People can talk in here about anything.. and aslong as they use spoiler tags there should be no problem.

This is a General Discussion. Thats means we can have a general talk about anime there is no written rule stating we have to post in single series topics. You seem to be the only one with a problem with this, can't speak for everyone else but i just want to come here and chat/read about anime..

Crap, just found out the director of R.O.D was at BFI's Anime Weekend back in May promoting his new film 'Welcome to the Space Show'. He even watched the film with the audience. I knew I shouldn't have gone just to see Evangelion. I can't believe I have had opportunities to see Redline, Welcome to the Space Show and the Professor Layton movie, the only upcoming animes I really want to see, yet I overlooked them all and really missed out. Its a real shame they were all one off screenings too. I hope they're shown in London again so I can pop down and be amazed. Anime movies have gotten so much better in recent years, with the likes of Rebuild, Summer Wars, Sword of the Stranger, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Disappearance and the other three movies I mentioned. No doubt Satoshi Kon's next movie'll come out next year are raise the bar a few notches higher as well. The animation in such movies has also risen to unbelievably high standards. I wonder what anime will took like in only five years time, when Blu-ray may well be the standard. Anime sales have been steadily increasing in Japan as well. The future of anime looks bright.

I saw Ponyo when it was out in theatres. I think it is easily one of Miyazaki's best films, although I am not much of a Ghibli fan - Satoshi Kon > Hayao Miyazaki.

I watch a lot of foreign movies, mainly Japanese, Korean and Chinese. I am a huge, huge, huge fan of Japanese cinema and a lot of the time I do find the them more interesting than anime, but I could never choose between one or the other. My second favourite movie of all time is Korean. :8

Oldboy is my second favourite movie of all time. Its probably miles from the stuff you're used to watching though. I've seen too many Japanese films to mention, but my favourites are those by Takeshi Kitano and I am also a big fan of Akira Kurosawa. But again, they're probably miles different from what you watch. I am a fan of drama films, but despite my love for Japanese cinema and unless we're talking samurai dramas, I much prefer those in the English language. Perhaps because I can just connect with them better or because Japanese dramas tend to target female audiences a lot more than male audiences. Nevertheless, I really like Shall We Dansu? and Kurosawa made some masterpiece dramas in his time (Ikiru). Ping Pong is also one of my favourite movies of all time and while mainly a comedy I guess you could class it as a drama also.

Samurai Champloo is great. Mugen is my favourite character n'all. If you like Champloo then I recommend Sword of the Stranger. It's pretty much the very epitome of the samurai genre. It isn't a series though, it is an anime movie. So production quality is ten times higher as well.

I'm gonna watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann probably after Darker than Black, I wanted to find a torrent but all the ones I find are in .mkv or some weird file format, guess I have to stream it. :<

MKV is a good file format, you can count on the quality as well. I would also recommend downloading VLC. It really does play everything.

Was there really any need? I already posted it in the One Piece thread. :P

Anyway, I watched the Professor Layton movie today. It was all around wonderful and with a lovely charm about it. It's set in London as well so I recognised and have been to a lot of the locations. It's probably one of the best movies based on a video game ever, although it doesn't have that much competition. I hope OLM will continue to make more Layton movies. I'd love for the company to continue working on something other than Pokemon. They're also the studio that created both Utawarerumono and Berserk. They should work on more anime!
