I've seen them ones before, that's just a little bit too perverse. My Clare mousepad is win though, even if it's got that new mousepad smell.

Anyway my current mousepad is weird. It's like some weird German football game called Anstoss... dunno why I have it.

No, it wasn't. First I told Jord what happened in the manga (here (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?p=6062381#post6062381) is the post) then I summed it up for Axel on MyAnimeList. I probably let you in on a few spoilers to try and get you to read the manga, although it was a wasted effort from the beginning. Yet again your memory has failed you, as you don't 'keep having to tell me'. Don't try and outsmart me boiiii. My memory is world class.

To soon imo. The series just ended. Should be keeping this for a while so people can get some FMA fix in the future. Dragonball had to wait for 16 years for the special. I think mayb june next year would have been a good time to show it year after the series finished. then you would have it being animated later that year giving us some more time with FMA.

"Dialogue : Japanese/English/Spanish
Subtitle : English/Off
Region : All Region, Free Code
Disc Type : DVD x 8 (2 x Boxset)
Screen : 4:3
Audio : Ac3, 2.0 Channel
Series Type : TV Series
System : NTSC
Episodes : 1-75
Running Time : Approximately 75 x 25 mins"

Confused Normaly bootlegs have chinese/english sub only. But this has a English dub aswell. doesn't list chinese subs D: but it dosent say Geneon as the maker. £45 might be willing to try go for it. doesn't look like i'll find a legit copy for a decent price

The Sci-Fi London Anime All-Nighter lineup should be released next month. They'll probably have Trigun and Haruhi as well, but all I care about is Redline! Although I would love to see Welcome to the Space Show as well. Can't wait for the BFI's next Anime Weekend either. Their lineup is always impressive, the only downside is having to pay for every film individually. I guess there are full festival tickets but they'll be expensive.

By the way, there is an interesting documentary on BBC Three tomorrow about some 14 year old girl who became popular in Japan after uploading videos of herself dancing on YouTube. The Adult Season has been really good so far, especially the 'Glamour Models, Mum and Me' documentary. I'll definitely be watching the one mentioned above.

England and Scotland actually get loads of premieres and exclusive anime films. Sometimes I think we even get more than America. Tales From Earthsea is released in yank land tomorrow when we got it over here three years ago. There is actually a very dedicated anime following in the UK, or at least for anime movies anyway. There must be some screenings in Ireland. I know there are a few small-ish conventions at least.

There is actually an anime convention tomorrow for anyone in the Leicester area. It's called AmeCon and is running from August 13th to August 15th. It is actually one of the largest anime conventions in the UK. Guests include Brad Swaile, Akemi Solloway, Wendy Powell and 1 secret guest to be revealed at the convention. As always there will be loads of stuff to buy and people to meet and Beez are going to reveal their new anime licenses. They posted some clues...

License #1: sounds like a film released in the same year as Sword of the Stranger, but really isn't like it at all!

License #2: is all about the music, and isn't K-On!

License #3: Another slightly older title and one you have asked for again and again since its release in 2007!

License #4: you already know as it went through the BBFC and technically already was announced. It's a straight to AL set from Bandai Entertainment's past. - This one is most likely The Big O.

Here is AmeCon's wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AmeCon

I don't think I'll ever watch Naruto, it just sounds like another Bleach, and I prefer shinigami to ninjas anyway. I remember when Bleach used to have good fights, back in the Soul Society arc.... Ichigo vs Byakuya was awesome, but the fights now are so annoying. Some are alright, but it's like one person tries an attack on the other, comments on how effective/ineffective it is, then the other person just does the same. Repeat that about 10 times over with different techniques and you have a Bleach fight.

Neversoft
12-08-2010, 03:32 PM
Yeah, watching Bleach is like playing a turn based RPG. I watched the first couple of episodes of Naruto years ago but just gave up knowing it wouldn't be worth it in the long run. Everyone has to agree though that it has some amazing action sequences. The episode I posted above must have had at least three times the usual budget!

oh yeah, i watched that thing about the girls last night. Is it wrong i was cringing for most of it? I did feel sorry for Gemma, quite surprising she was so surprised by it but still felt sorry for her. I really didn't like becky though, as lucky as she was. Her personality just really annoyed me and reminded me so much of the japanofiles in my school. Nothing wrong with liking all that is japanese culture, but when u start trying to be them when you're in britain its like eurghhhhhhh, swo yeah, reminded me a lot of some people in my year that really annoy me which probably didnt help. God though, i dont get how that fan is so obsessed though, but she's still pretty damn lucky. Wish i got random presents (dont lie, those noodles were cool) from random people. Good watch though, albeit somewhat cringeworthy when they were dancing.

Quite surprising she was so surprised by it? WHAT? Do you mean surprised by her demographics? For a 16 year old girl I don't think her reaction was surprising. It's unfortunate her mum doesn't seem to support her as much as Beckii's lot. What are you on about trying to be Japanese whilst in Britain though? She clearly made a point of not involving herself in some aspects of Japanese culture because even though she is famous in Japan, she said she still has a British mindset and she doesn't agree with everything the Japanese do. She got another producer and started recording songs in English after her Japanese success as well. Yeah, she loves Japan, but it isn't fair to say she is trying to be Japanese.

You would be surprised how dedicated fans are in Japan. When Aya Hirano (a Japanese singer and VA, most famous as the voice of Haruhi) announced that she was romantically involved with someone, loads of her fans sent her threat letters and said they would kill her. There have been a lot of Japanese films that have delt with fan obsession as well. Perfect Blue is about an obsessed fan who threatens to kill his favourite idol after she leaves her pop band and changes her image. In Takeshi Kitano's film Dolls a pop star is disfigured in a traffic accident and is forced to leave the whole world of pop culture and she refuses to see any of her old fans because of how she now looks. Upon hearing the news her most dedicated fan gouges his eyes out (making him blind) so he can meet his idol again.

I didn't cringe at the dances. I think I have become immune after seeing so many people dancing at the Expo. A lot of the time you can appreciate how well people do them. Oh and they showned Haruhi in dub because the target audience of the documentary wasn't anime fans! :P

I really do facepalm myself a lot reading posts on this forum. Again, don't judge a book by it's cover. And before you get smart on me, yes it's a film and not a book, but you get what I mean. I really couldn't care less if you watched it or not anyway, I just hate it when people judge without having any knowledge of what they're talking about. The documentary could be the best thing since sliced bread for all you know, but I don't care and you don't care, so that's the end of that.

On to something new...

Thinking of starting Tentai Senshi Sunred. It'll be my first new series in like three months.

It seems like a cross between Arakawa Under the Bridge, Cromartie High School and Gintama.

By the way Neev, after you're done with One Piece forget everything else I recommended you for a while and watch Cromartie High School. It's a 26 episode comedy series set in an eccentric delinquent high school, although each episode is only 13 minutes long. If you don't like it by episode 3 you have permission to hate me. The opening is awesome too.

i know what the expression means.

essentially thats what the documentary is about. Her being famous for doing that, what she does, Some of the problems of being young etc "Reads Iplayer" Looks like i was right.

That's what these information bits are for, like the back of a book. It gives you and idea of what the book or in this case documentary is about to intice you to read/watch. Just because i don't like the sound of it dosen't mean my post is facepalm worthy. In your view its a good documentary in my view it would be a waste of an hour. It's called having an opinion.

Anyway

Durarara!! or Reborn. Not decided on which to watch next.

Neversoft
14-08-2010, 12:58 PM
But you don't truly know what the book is about or what it is like until you read it, no? The blurb is there to sell the product and to get peope interested, a lot of the time it only describes a fraction of the actual picture. I never denied you an opinion, isn't it funny how you always think I have. I just simply hate it when people cast around judgements unfairly, which is what you're doing. I am sure if I said One Piece was crap because pirates are lame you'd have a thing or two to say. It's also funny how whenever I present an end to things you always insist on continuing. What a pain. I am not going to persevere with this absolutely pointless and unnecessary debate because we never see eye to eye.

Beez are going to reveal their new anime licenses.

Beez are going to release Lucky Star in two box sets and it will include the OVA. They also licensed Sora no Woto, The Girl Who Leapt Through Space and Outlaw Star.

They're also releasing both Durarara!! in October in time for the MCM Expo. It will be sub only and a dub will be released later on and will be released over three DVDs (8-9 episodes per disc) and the RRP is £24.99 each, which is disgustingly expensive if I am honest. It should be more like £24.99 for all three, unless the website I am getting this news from has it wrong (which is likely).

Beez also said it is now possible to release titles in the UK the same year they are broadcast in Japan, so heres hoping for some good, quick releases in the future. Aparrently they would like to bring the Gurren Lagann movies to the UK, but have mixed feelings. No loss there, though.

Manga Entertainment licensed Eden of the East and Baccano and will release Eden in November, so it'll probably make it to the Expo in October. Baccano! will also be out in October but the RRP is £39.99. It is a 16 episode series, why is it so overpriced. Thank God for Amazon selling it for £26.99. Oh and Eden will also be released in blu-ray and the DVD version will only cost £14.99 on Amazon. That's more like it!

Some more info...
- A french company, according to BEEZ, are sitting on the UK rights for Dragon Ball Z.
- Generally if there is a UK licensee for a Blu-Ray title then USA release is Region locked.

MVM also expressed concerns with releasing blu-ray titles in the UK even though they have the rights to some. Beez seem to be of the same opinion. It seems there just simply isn't a big enough market to release anime in blu-ray in this country.

A lot of interesting news. More to come in October at the MCM Expo as well. I am glad Manga and Beez are going to be releasing Baccano! and Durarara!! respectively, I just hope they aren't too expensive at the Expo. I hope they bring down the price of the Gurren Lagann DVDs soon as well. Around £3 per episode is just too much. Anyway, at least Beez seem to be bringing some life back into the UK anime market after the demise of ADV. Unfortunately it seems nothing will happen with all the licenses we lost, at least not unless we invade America.

Can't edit but the blu-ray version of Eden of the East will retail at £34.99 but you can pre-order it on Amazon for only £17.47. At times like this I wish I had a blu-ray player.

The industry is moving in a really positive direction by releasing entire series in only one or two sets instead of up to seven individual volumes. Manga publishers are also doing the same by favouring large omnibus volumes instead of the usual 200 page book.

Plus, you wouldn't believe it but we're getting DRRR!! in October while America isn't getting it until January 2011. Let's all hold hands a rejoice.

I was in HMV in Cambridge yesterday, they had an anime section so I thought I'd check it out. They had Claymore, Champloo, and a couple more box sets like Black Lagoon which I haven't watched, but they were all £40. :( Dunno what I was expecting, but I don't have £40 to spend on something I can get for free online.

Most 26 episode series are £40 in stores like HMV where they actually think they can sell anime series at retail price. Hell, the Cowboy Bebop Remix Collection is £49.99 in my local HMV and Evangelion 1.11, a 90 minute movie, was £19.99 at one point. They've got a few bargins but HMV is usually a rip off.

He also spoke about meeting with MADHOUSE founder Masao Maruyama about the final anime film he was directing, and said:

"When I conveyed my concerns for Yume-Miru Kikai to Mr. Maruyama, he said, "It's fine. Don't worry, we'll do whatever it takes."

I cried.

I cried aloud."

Kon ended his message with:

"With feelings of gratitude for all that is good in this world, I put down my pen.

Well, I'll be leaving now.

Satoshi Kon"

Farewell a true visionary and a godfather of anime. Still can't believe it...

For winning the arcade thing you get a bunch of stuff on Habbo and some VIP and rep I think. Seeing as how you won three out of four tournaments I think you'll have to enter a tournament against the Frogger winner (which should have been me) and whoever wins that will win the main prize.

Quick question;

Do any of you guys do any cosplay at cons? Or am I the only one?

I think you and I are the only people on this forum who go to cons, so yeah you're the only one. I would like to cosplay as Friend (http://media.lunch.com/d/d7/135318.jpg) but getting and making the correct mask has proven a little tricky and purchasing the clothes would cost quite a bit. Maybe when I actually have a steady income I will indulge in some cosplay, but until then I would rather spend what money I do have on other things.

Oh. Fair enough. I haven't actually cosplayed an anime character before, just the tenth doctor, but I'm going as Soul (in his black blood suit) to MCM next year if Paul doesn't back out.

All this Expo talk reminds me I have yet to purchase tickets for October! I better get around to doing that soon. The Anime All-Nighter lineup should be revealed soon as well. I hope they're showing Welcome to the Space Show.

Oh and I should be at the MCM next May with a few friends as well (thats if my life doesn't take an unexpected turn or something) so I might see you and Paul down there. Niamh you're like the only one in this section that actually lives in London, you might as well make the most of it. :P

Well, i really would go , i just honestly have no one to go with. Like the people from my school that go, i just dont really get on with (not my sense of humour at all), and the 2 guys on my road are SO immature, i dont think i'd be able to put up with em long enough. Nail already invited you to hang with him. :P To be honest I always go with friends but we usually split up since it's such a big place that you're all going to want to do your own thing instead of tagging along with each other. It's good to go with friends if you're staying at a hotel (which I do) so you have someone to hang out with at night, but since you live in London that isn't really a problem as you could just go home when the event is over. Although if you go to the Premier Inn hotel just down the road pretty much anyone will let you hang out with them. It's what me and my friends did the Friday before the Expo last time we went. On Expo weekend that hotel is absolutely packed. It's actually like a mini expo before the actual one since even though it's a Friday most people are in cosplay anyway. The atmosphere is great. If you ever do go you're going to regret missing out on all the prior Expos. :P

Oh, I'll be there in October as well anyway (agan assuming my life doesn't change too dramatically). My first Expo was May 2008 and I have continued to go every year (in both May and October) since, except the one in October 2008 which I missed due to... I don't even know why I missed it. I wonder if the Expo in 2012 will be cancelled due to the Olympic Games. Some of the events are actually being held in the Excel Centre.

Only a straw hat? So the rest of you would be naked? Funny thing is you probably wouldn't stand out much. There is this one girl that always attends in her bathing suit and there are others wrapped up in only cloth and some only covered by bandages. Some nice underboob goin' down at the Expo.

Not at the Expo but they do at the Anime All-Nighter event which I have been going on about. :P It is held at London's Apollo Piccadilly cinema in May and October, the same months as the Expo. The lineup will be released in a few weeks.

Just hide my big story xD

not all londons fault but.
- Sunday 9am i got up when to work all that stuff then did an all nighter.
- Monday 10pm i get a coach down to London
- Tuesday 7am Arrive in London after a terrible 9 hour trip where i couldnt sleep, sit comfy, Time Dragged on, No wifi when promised it, And a man next to me sleeping and constantly falling onto me.
- Walked to the venue in london to see Dir en grey, got there at about 11:30, Que was massive so went to pub and had a pint then went and que'd. at about 12 till 6 seen dir en grey which were awesome.
- Got out. Tried walking back to the bus station. Where we got lost and walked around for about 3-4 Hours my legs where killing me and i was shattered, Got to Bus place at about 3am slept outside until about 4 till we where alowed in my the seats and fell asleep on the floor. was just me and my mate. I woke up at about 7am to the place fully packed. and i was like o.O.
- Asked driver if i could join my friends bus at 9 since i had payed for a ticket and of there was space in an early one got told they werent stopping at edinburgh [ which they did ]
- Had to wait until 3:30 until my bus came which was 9 hours long, Heating on full blast, smelly, Bunch of english girls constantly laughing, and uncomfy and no wifi once again.

And time before that i ended up being homeless for a night in london on my own and ended up busting my knee for about a month. Luckily because im working in the Railway now i can get the Sleeper from Edinburgh > London for free so its all good.

On topic, I'm still bummed out that the list for anime coming out in Fall is fake. Whoever made that list is a douche for getting my hopes up about a remake of Claymore. I don't see why they don't remake it anyway, if MAL is anything to go by, it's the 12th 'most popular' manga, it's deserves a decent anime counterpart, considering how awesome it is, just like Brohood got. The current anime gives the manga a bad name with that ending. :(

That chart has actually been popping up here and there for quite some time. :P Anyway, I think Claymore may get a remake sometime, or a continuation excluding the last episodes of the original series, but not for a while because the manga is monthly and there simply isn't enough material there to do it now.

lulwut? A moderator is trying to get me to post off topic! You scheming good-for-nothing!

Aaaaaahhhhhhhh! Japanese cinema season at London's Barbican and Takeshi Kitano has already sold out! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

In anime news, Pretty Cure has replaced Tokyo Mew Mew on PopGirl. Let's all celebrate and watch it like little girls.

Now I have talked about anime my post is no longer off topic so I can mention my holiday. It was pretty good, but darn hot. 35℃ is toooooo hot for me. Still, it meant the sea was rather warm and very swimmable. Unfortunately minimal waves but loads of fish to see if you have a snorkel. There isn't much to do in Crete other that hang about the beaches though, as its too darn hot to walk around all day and there wasn't much around where we were staying. We did go to the capital though, which was alright but Greek people are mental drivers. The restaurant staff are very kind though. All in all, good holiday but Crete isn't somewhere I would visit again in a hurry.

Blast, you are a worthy adversary. However i will get you one day!

Already sold out? when did the tickets go on sale?
And just realised i have like half of cromartie to watch still.

ANYWAY, 35 is a tad hot :P I can imagine. When i went to spain for the first time (first ever time on a plane woop), it was during a heatwave. So not only were we boiling, but it was a good 40 or 45 degrees. Our apartment didnt have air conditioning because we were cheap. We'd run out of bread, so i volunteered since the shop had lovely air conditioning, but not realising that shops have weird opening times there and whatever, i'd walked for like 10 mins in the midday which was absolutely horrible, got to the shop, it was closed. Had to walk back and almost feinted on the way :( But still, your holiday sounds nice. Nothing better than just lazily roaming around the beach and dipping into the sea. Sounds perfection to me :P Atleast you had a good time overall, even if you dont wanna go back.

OMG you're watching Cromartie? Is it funny or what? Please tell me you're watching it in Japanese. Episode three was absolute genius.

Yeah it was a good holiday, but I just don't like the heat too much so I wouldn't want to return in summer at least. I'll do a winter visit any time. We have a family friend who has a house over there so that is where we stayed. I don't think the house had air conditioning though, but it did have an electric fan I enjoyed sitting around. What I enjoyed most was probably the fact that I was away from home and so away from my worries and commitments. Now I am back I am going to have to go and find a job. Oh joy! Meh, I'll start looking on Wednesday or something. I'll chill out until then.

Yeah im watching, well kind of took a break in the middle. It does have its funny parts, but the humming episode seriously got on my nerves, but other than that its been good. Its super random though. And yeah ofc subbed. Although, even though episode 3 ( the humming episode) did get on my nerves a load, i did find some of it real funny.

**** going in the winter lol, you're so english. too used to the cold you are. And when i went spain, fans were useless, it just blew hot air into your face so really didnt help at all. I dont think i have any worries or commitments, things are really good atm, so woooopeeeee. you got any idea what kind of job you're gonna get? Or just like a part time thing for now?

Wow, you didn't like episode three? What has the world come to.

I don't mind the heat but I don't like it stupidly hot. I guess I am very English when it comes to the temperature.

Yeah well you're still a student, haven't even taken your GCSE's yet have you? Of course you'll have no worries or commitments, haha. Just wait until you're out in the big, wide world though. Right now I have no idea what job I would like. I have college degrees in Media, so I could go down the route of journalism, photography, filmmaking, etc but you really can't make a living out of that straight away so I'll probably pursue something else first. I'd love to work with animals, so I might ask around at the catteries and kennels near me, but I will probably need qualifictions in some places. I don't want to claim Job Seekers Allowance even though it is free money and I don't want to sign onto any agencies because I am really stubborn and prefer to do things my own way, only in this day and age it isn't so easy. :P I don't want to work with a group of strangers either and don't want to have to help anyone out and act kind when really I am full of malicious thoughts inside (supermarkets). I'll just go with the flow and see what happens.

Hah.

Go die! I just got my results, college starts on wednesday. And yeah i do have worries hmph. The big wide world has come to me early :P, but my god you sound hopeless. I dont actually know what to say to that. Sounds like you dont want a job O.o

Weren't you like 15 until a couple of days ago? And college isn't the big, wide world, college is just another bit of fun. I am rather hopeless but really who wants a job if it can be avoided. What I would have loved to do was to join this thing called the JET program where they select English speakers from all over the world and send them to Japan for up to five years to teach English in schools. That'll do someone like me just fine, but the only problem is you need a bachelor's degree but I never went to uni and I don't want to go and study for another four years now. I was seriously going to sign up for it but when I read that you needed a uni degree my dreams were crushed. There are alternatives though, so I will investigate them.

My life is eerily similar to Sasahara's in Genshiken. He had a lot of fun and adventures in college, but after graduation he didn't do much and seemed lost, but after failing at many job interviews he finally found his place in life when he was accepted as an assistant magazine editor. A quote by Iroh at the end of the second season of Avatar also comes to mind;

"Life is like this dark tunnel. You may not always see the light at the end of the tunnel, but if you keep moving, you will come to a better place."

What I lack is motivation. Probably because I found out I couldn't do what I wanted and the fact that where I live isn't really a nice place to work. I'll find my voice sooner or later though, many people go through this phase. I think I'll be fine as long as I try.

It's not a generic high school show. The characters are genuinely interesting, and **** has hit the fan now. Can't wait for the next episode!

Axel

So I've finally finished all of Darker than Black - OVAs, Season 2, etc etc. I really really liked the first season, the OVAs were very good too but not as good, then I really really liked the second season... until the endings. That was a bit of a let down.

What to watch next? I have loads of stuff on plan to watch, and I still need to continue with Gintama and TTGL I suppose. TTGL seemed really dull though, I don't get what all the fuss is about. Well, not dull, but it wasn't anything amazing from what I saw, and it was a bit stupid.

Maybe Monster next.

I don't get the obsession with it... it just seems way over the top and not that entertaining? Swear I'm missing something.

Also the animation is kinda sucky.

Neversoft

It seems over the top because it is supposed to, and actually Gurren Lagann had one of the largest budgets for an anime series in recent times. The animation is fantastic. :S Unless you're doing a Niamh in which case you actually mean the art style. If so... WHAT?

Axel
06-09-2010, 10:48 PM
Really? From the first few episodes the animation doesn't seem that good. And I know it's not meant to be super serious but still, it's not very gripping. And it's just plain weird, like how Kamina just puts grabs Simon's Lagann and sticks it ontop of his Gurren and it's like oh ok now they're combined through BROTHERLY LOVE.

Some episode had twice the amount of frames a normal anime episode has. The animation is ridiculously fluid and during the second half of the series there is so much going on that you'll get eye cancer.

They didn't combine through brotherly love they combined through manly spiral power! I think you're trying to take it too seriously. The series is meant to be silly, it is supposed to break the rules of psyics and reality (the final battle is in space with mechs 'more than 10 million light years in height' throwing galaxies at each other), it is just supposed to be a bit of fun which it most definitely is if you just give it a chance, but I guess everyone has different tastes.

Axel
06-09-2010, 11:06 PM

I wish Studio 4°C would make an anime out of Taiyo Matsumoto's Ping Pong manga. It would be sooooooooooooo amazing. Gogo Monster needs an anime as well. I can't believe Tekkonkinkreet is the only one that has been adapted.

LOL that episode was hilarious! You should stop looking at these images though because it'll lessen the impact when you get there in the anime. :P The next episode (ep 50) is highly regarded as one of the best fillers around. The Gintama crew wonder where the show is headed and all suggest new directions for it to take. Tons of references and ultra funny stuff. You're approaching the first serious arc as well (ep 58 to 62 I think) then theres the Kyuubei arc following that with one of the funniest episodes of the whole series (ep 79).

Forgot to ask proof pls?

"The second trailer screened was for the second series of Fighting Spirit (Hajime no Ippo). The series has a new director, Jun Shishido, who also worked on The Story of Saiunkoku. Maruyama called the series a "fresh look" for the storyline, and also mentioned that the director of the previous Fighting Spirit series is currently working on a Fighting Spirit movie."

By the way everyone, there is a film called Zatoichi on Film4 at 1:10am on Friday September 17th. You should all watch it because it contains some of the best samurai action you will ever see in a movie, plus it was directed by and stars Beat Takeshi himself. You simply couldn't ask for more.

Yeah, I was waiting for Ryuzaki to reply but I guess he isn't going to. I am pretty much the same as you though. Besides six episodes of PaniPoni Dash, I haven't watched an anime series in over three months. I still watch the occasional anime movie and read the odd manga, but even they have taken a back seat. It's funny, now I have so much time on my hands I am always doing other things. You would have thought I could fit in some anime but I guess it just isn't the same without Gintama.
