Yeah, Gasback was his name. Did he have a bigger bounty than Vash though? It was 300 something, but I am not sure if it was 300 million or 300 billion. Vash's bounty is $$60,000,000,000 (sixty billion double dollars) which seems unlikely to be surpassed, so I hope Gasback's was $$300 million and not $$300 billion, otherwise that spoils things somewhat. No one succeeds Vash! :P

I went three months without watching an anime series but ruined the record yesterday by checking out one of the new series called Level E. It was actually brilliant. The comedy reminds me so much of Gintama. I suggest you guys check it out - http://myanimelist.net/anime/9834/Level_E

Think I'll just stick with that each week now, don't have the drive to pick up anything else. At least not until Gintama starts again, anyway. It's so weird, when Gintama is airing I watch a whole bunch of anime but when it isn't I don't feel like watching anything at all. Gintama is my raison d'être!

Yes it is kaichou wa maid-sama. There's a special being released with the final blu-ray I think (might not even get subbed since eclipse dropped it).
I finished Kimi ni todoke season 1 and am currently watching season 2. That new blond guy seems like such a ******* bro but I've been told he's the new "villain" and ***** everything up. I don't watch live adoption anything because they suck!

Well basically Ichigo lost his shinigami powers as you know, 2 year time skip happens and Ichigo, Chad, Ishida and Inoue are back at school leading normal lives. Ichigo works for a yorozuya or however it spells, like in Gintama, when a guy comes in and asks for information on 'a guy', and proceeds to show a picture of Ichigo's dad, then the guy starts telling Ichigo how little he knows about his family. At the same time, Ichigo's sister Karin is visiting the Urahara shop and stuff, dunno if that has any plot relevance atm. The guy who came in the yorozuya gave Ichigo his number, and soon after Ishida is attacked by some mysterious guy and hospitalized. Ichigo then calls up this weird guy, and they meet up at his headquarters, where a lot of people just like him hang around. I forgot this group's name, but they have the power of fullbring, to manipulate stuff that means alot to them or something, like the guy who went to Ichigo in the yorozuya can turn his pendant into a sword. I think they said Inoue and Chad have the power of fullbring, hence at the start of the series Chad developed his arm stuff and Inoue could turn her hairclips into the little fairies. But anyway ye this group wants to help Ichigo restore his shinigami powers, and also want to give their powers of fullbring to Ichigo cos they see it as a 'curse' or something. And ye it turns out Chad is a member, and walks in when Ichigo is at their HQ. Soon after Ichigo starts training in a dollhouse, part of one of the member's of this group's fullbring power. And ye that's as far as it is.

Well that's Japanese humour for you. I love their humour, it's quite in seqeuence with British humour, only more stupid and crazy.

Yeah that bit was great haha and Justin's pronunciation made it even better. Instead of pronouncing ***u-chan as foo-koo-chan he was proper like IT'S OKAY ****-OO-CHAN! IT'S OKAY ****-OO-CHAN!

That fool. Plus what happened to Rukia's feelings towards Ichigo? When she got taken back to Soul Society at the beginning of the series Ichigo frickin' invaded and nearly died one million times for her, but now Ichigo is all alone Rukia doesnt even care to visit even after TWO YEARS? One-sided love much? If I was Ichigo I would forget about her and start banging Orihime.

I seriously doubt Oda had 613 chapters of One Piece planned when he started serialization. I wouldn't be surprised if they had both planned near enough the same amount of material ahead of the current chapters for their respective series, but Kubo just makes it confusing for himself by adding every single thing he thinks of and taking the manga in strange directions.

Anyway, on the topic of Oda and plans... I heard he knows exactly how he is going to end the series, but not when he will end it. I bet he's laughing all the way to the bank.

Really glad Sorchi is still doing Gintama. There were rumours of it ending around volume 30, but at 339 chapters and 38 volumes it's still going as strong as ever.

Of course things that happened in the first episodes can relate to things in more recent episodes, but it doesn't show great planning because they can add them in at any time. All they have to do is look back at the first episode/chapter and think "let's add a reference to this" and that's that. Even Kubo could do it. In fact, he has done. Ichigo's dad was revealed as a shinigami 100s of chapters back and the series is getting back into that now. A show of good planning would be a pretty much flawless story, no plot holes, no questionable points, etc. When a series ends and everything fits and it all makes sense, that's good planning.

The AMV uses clips from the music video for Utada Hikaru's song 'Passion' along with the 'Demension Bomb' short film from Genius Party Beyond (I think it's about 20 minutes long). Haven't gotten around to Beyond yet, but I am still making my way through the first Genius Party. It's a series of short films by the most prolific anime directors. Shinichiro Watanabe's (director of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo) one is absolutely fantastic!

In other news...

Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance out on DVD and blu-ray on the 30th of May. That means they'll have it for sale a few days before release at the Expo in May then. Good stuff! Although I still need to buy the first film... but HMV sell the only 2 disc version and they want £20 for it. =/ I also wish Manga would re-release The End of Evangelion, their encoding on the original DVD SUCKS. I own the DVD but would rather watch a downloaded version it sucks that bad.

Also, there was some mini anime convention in London last weekend why did I only find out now.

Why can't I go to both you ******. I have been going to the Expo every time it has been on since 2008. All the hotels are booked right the **** up for May already though. This has never happened before... must be some other stupid event going on in conjunction with the Expo... that or the convention has just grown too much in popularity. I also see every single hotel near the Expo has increased their price for the Expo weekend. Sneeky, blood-sucking *******s. As if we all don't spend enough money over the weekend already! Urgh, dammit. Gonna check my usual hotel every day for the next two weeks, hope someone cancels so I can steal their places. If not I will have to book a hotel further away. How GRIM. Is here tho you cant say he has every little thing planned.

- He has the ending planned already.
- He works 6 days a week. 3 planning/sketching 3 Making the chapter 1 day rest.
- A sketch shown in Data book green which was done before he started on One Piece shows he had already planned most of the characters and there jobs.

Why can't I go to both you ******. I have been going to the Expo every time it has been on since 2008. All the hotels are booked right the **** up for May already though. This has never happened before... must be some other stupid event going on in conjunction with the Expo... that or the convention has just grown too much in popularity. I also see every single hotel near the Expo has increased their price for the Expo weekend. Sneeky, blood-sucking *******s. As if we all don't spend enough money over the weekend already! Urgh, dammit. Gonna check my usual hotel every day for the next two weeks, hope someone cancels so I can steal their places. If not I will have to book a hotel further away. How GRIM. BUILD MORE HOTELS AND LOWER YOUR PRICES!

You are both wrong and right. He may not plan every little thing but he does the most planning ive known any mangaka to do. Was also stated that During oda's first proper holiday during the 4 week break. He took 1 week off and was back to doing the manga.

Wikipedia is awesome. i usually have to spend 45 mins on a bus 4x a day if im working and if im on a train thats another 30 mins of just sitting around. Look up some stuff and have a wee read. Makes time go by and me a bit smarter, was planning ont aking manga for reading but i dont want to damage them lol.

I highly doubt he does more planning than Naoki Urasawa. The first few pages of 20th Century Boys are actually the start of the climax some 200 or so chapters later and 20th Century Boys is the most complex, plot twisting, involved manga I have ever read.

Was a tv documentary thing on in japan about one piece sucess etc see oda's office, people in japan buying volume 61, some random stuff and an interview with someone.

i like at 12:30 when they talk about samurai and one piece. and the song plays with the bit from Enies lobby. that would have been a nice song at the part in the anime D:

Speaking of Monster... I should really pick up the anime again. Stalled at episode 17 like a year or two ago and just left it. Might buy the manga instead since all of the volumes have been published.

Also, just watched Memories. The 'Magnetic Rose' segment was a frickin' masterpiece. That pretty much confirms it... everything Satoshi Kon was involved in is brilliant. Really reminded me of Cowboy Bebop as well. Wouldn't be surprised if it was Watanabe's inspiration.

I was planning the MCM expo this year with Paul but he's being a **** now so I'll probably never get to go as there's no way I can afford a hotel on my own.

Secondly:
I have a morphsuit chirs, unless you're planning to wear shorts be prepared for everyone laughing at your (presumably tiny) penis.

Thirdly:
I'm not gonna watch/read vampire knight or ouran jen, I don't like them.

They actually tried to license Strong World, but Toei wouldn't let them have it unless they licensed every other movie as well. They also said they have been in talks with Toei about getting One Piece, but it being such a long series and the market over here being considerably smaller than in the US, they really have to think about whether it is worth it or not. Plus we already had an anime channel over here in the UK and we all know how much that failed, why would they dig it up again? Manga deserve so much more respect than you give them, they're actually doing so much work behind the scenes. Attend one of their talks at the Expo and you'll know what I mean.

Anyway... Gintama second in this weeks manga rankings. Love how popular the series is now. I still need to get the newest volumes that are out over here... might buy them now actually. The Book Depository are selling them so cheap!

Dammit Viz. I don't think the series has been withdrawn from publication... they always have a serious problem when it comes to reprints. It's the same with Evangelion - volume 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 go for upwards of £30 on eBay. I'm finding the same problem with some volumes of Vagabond and various other series as well. They spend YEARS releasing all the volumes and then when they're finally all out it seems Viz just give up on them (or even before the series is over in Evangelion and Vagabond's case), like there aren't any people actually waiting for the series to finish before purchasing... it's so annoying.

Wow, volume 3 is even unavailable on up1.co.uk. That's like my last resort website. They're labelling it as out of print. Viz have really been a let down lately.

I'll bet Forbidden Planet have it in stock in store, or perhaps Orbital Comics or Gosh down near Leicester Square. Might pick up a copy when I am in London next and then buy the rest online while I still can.

Finished both the Evangelion movies last night (1.0 and 2.0)

Jesus christ man it's amazing! Seriously, I liked the series but I LOVE these movies.

Indeed, 2.0 especially was completely mindblowing, everyone went crazy after it finished when I saw it at the cinema. Did you watch the scene after the credits? I've seen both films three times... think I might go for the fourth soon. Evangelion 2.0 is by far the best anime film I have ever seen in my opinion. Action, drama, complexity, mystery, absolutely superb animation and jaw-dropping presentation, it has it all and considerably more in addition. Plus Mari is awesome.

I've told Neev to check them out countless times but he won't watch them. Please tell him how much of a fool he is.

Indeed 2.0 is probably my favorite anime ever now. The scene were Shinji tries to save Rei is completely amazing. I've never felt so shocked at any anime in my life.

And yeah I did watch till the very very end. Next movie should be amazing.

Just watched the last part of Justin Lee Collins: Turning Japanese, so sad it's over already! No matter how many programmes on Japan I watch there is always something interesting and always something new. That guide who tried to prevent suicides seemed like a really nice person and it was so hilarious when Justin ate that squid! Loved it when he pretended to shoot the old man in the second episode as well, and his manzai mentor was like "What are you doing? That's old man. World War II generation. He thinks you're American!" :P Great show!

I don't think I saw you, but we were the last people in the foyer after the film finished so I guess you weren't dying to hang around and talk much, or you saw I was with two black people and got scared. Met up with a guy from MyAnimeList though, he was incredibly awesome and might be coming to the Expo with me and my friends now as well. :D

Anyway, as for the film... words do it little justice. Redline is more than just a film... it is an experience - especially on the big screen. If you ever get the chance to catch it at the cinema, do not pass up the opportunity. I can't recommend it enough, it is beyond amazing.

Ichimaru's bankai was basically um, well at first he revealed it to be like his sword can extend 17 km, and travels faster than the speed of sound or something, but then ye he betrayed Aizen, and as he did he revealed he can like poison people with his sword and removes parts of the sword as will, so he stabbed Aizen and planted a poisoned chip in his body so he slowly deteriorated... or however you spell it from the inside.... but then Aizen just regenerate as he faded away cos of the hogyoku.

And I wouldn't call Gin a good guy, I can't remember everything he did, all I know is that he sliced Hiyamori in half, although she was a Vaizard so technically not an ally of the Soul Society... in the end though, he was fighting to get the hogyoku back for Rangiku, and I actually almost shed a tear as he died. He's still a good guy to me.

I've liked it so far, the comedy is great and the melodrama is a lot less forced when compared to the likes of Clannad, although I agree with Nail, the misunderstandings are sometimes so unbelievably stupid. If you want a good live action drama/romance film though I recommend Hana and Alice.

I like the Death Note boxset because it actually has an outer casing that all of the volumes fit into nicely, unlike the Samurai Champloo boxset which is just one big plastic case with seven DVDs squashed inside. I see distributors are doing that a lot more often now. So cheap.

The latest update (from January) was that Shane Black will be directing it. He has actually only directed one film before, but that was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which is generally considered a very good film. He wrote the script for Lethal Weapon and Lethal Weapon 2 (along with his own film Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) and did the screenplay for The Last Action Hero. He seems to have some serious talent so heres hoping for the best. I have faith that he can produce a good script at least, anyway. Altough there have been rumours that he is going to be directing Iron Man 3. If those rumours are true I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped out of Death Note in order to work on Iron Man.

As for Zac Efron, he said the producers had approached him and they discussed Death Note briefly, but that is all. That was also a few years ago now, so I doubt it is likely he will play Light, but then again I doubt it's likely the film will ever get made.

and i hear rumours about bebop, akira, bleach. I'll never get my hopes up for a live action that way i wont be disapointed. As long as there not Dragonball bad. And aslogn as theres not a One Piece one.

And yes MVM boxsets are a bit tacky my fave way would be if Manga used a nice thick box like Funimations dragon boxes but used slim cases. Look alot nicer i think. Perfect example would be the Battle royale blu ray the special edition version.

Champloo is like the first anime I have managed to get through in like four months, kinda been out of the scene for a while so I don't want to go watching 50+ episode series so soon, but I will get around to both FMA series' eventually, don't you worry.

But going back to Champloo... there were six years between the release of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo and it has now been six years since Champloo ended (six years two days ago to be precise). Where is your new series, Shinichiro Watanabe? :(

Yea i would skip the first series, Far better. And i was told Gintama is was just resuming and carrying on not a new series so would assume CR would get it.


They do use slim cases for the Death Note boxset.

Anyway, finished Samurai Champloo for the second time about 15 minutes ago. It left such a huge smile on my face, that series is so close to perfection. I think I'll up the score I gave it on MyAnimeList from a 9 to a 10. Seriously one of the best anime series I have ever watched.

Then i shall be buying that on Payday 1.

And speaking of Gintama, Fumihiko Tachiki does Sonic's Wisp voice in colors.

Yeah, I was going to watch Brotherhood first anyway but I have the first series downloaded so might as well watch that as well.

Most anime should be back on schedule by April, so I assume Gintama will air as planned but I can't say for sure.

I don't think there has been any news on whether crunchyroll will get the series, but I really hope they do. I highly doubt Rumbel will even bother, it takes them months to release just one episode and they still haven't subbed the movie even though it has been out for like half a year and a huge majority of it has already been subbed in the series.

Plus other groups seem to stay far away from Gintama so crunchyroll is pretty much our only hope.

That's wrong. Gintama isn't simply 'resuming' - it is a new series. The title has been changed and there is a large possibility that from now on every new season of Gintama will be 26 episodes long. It's pretty much the same thing Madhouse did with Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger.

ZETSUBOU SHIITA! Certain edits and decisions in this thread have left me in despair!

But on a more cheery note I just watched the Gintama movie that I illegally downloaded (apparently). I was a bit disappointed that there was actually only like three new sequences, but it was still fantastic. There's an extra scene at the end were they break the fourth wall BIG TIME. It reveals that the Yorozuya house is actually just part of a set and then the freakin' Warner Brothers show up. Gintama is genius.

It's not actually part of the movie, it's an extra scene after the credits where all of the characters that weren't in the movie show up and start complaining and saying how they're going to be the lead role in the next Gintama film. :P Besides, I couldn't spoil the film because if you've seen the Benizakura Arc in series then you know exactly what happens anyway.

It's at episode 10 and has been put on hiatus due to the earthquake and tsunami. You probably won't watch it when you see what it looks like though. :P It's a magical girl anime that has a really cutesy style but apparently it pulls some super twist in like the third episode and becomes really violent and psychologically deep. I'll probably check it out.

Bet you still haven't checked out the Rebuild of Evangelion movies even after you said you would and even after Nail backed me up on the fact that the second one is quite possibly the best anime film ever made.
