It seems I'm running out of good anime to watch, I remember when I first started watching anime there was so much to watch, Death Note, Code Geass, Gurren Lagan, Bebop, Trigun, Hellsing, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Ippo, EyeShield. Dont get me wrong there is plenty out there I aint watched, its just getting harder to find them.

I guess I should warn you guys about this first, no it's not some massacre or some dark times living under Nazis or during Stalin's times. I say this cos I hesitated watching this cos I thought it was something like that.


Boy, was I wrong.

Synopsis/Traits:
An interesting concept, I saw a personality like GTO trying to reform a soccer club, like the guy in there with his class (That's all I know about GTO, hahaha...). Inspirational theme, belief and hope runs deep, it is able to capture the attention of the viewer.
1 interesting trait is that, unlike a few other 2x anime series I watched, this series takes it slowly at the front. Momentum is built up, some mysteries here and there, and potential is abound. This anime will probably do very well if the pace doesn't change too dramatically.

Story:8
To be honest, it isn't too surprising. Compare it with Slam Dunk, and you should get what I mean. Something like "Giant Killing" and some similar features can be found in both series.

The content and the setting isn't very surprising, but the process is. The flashbacks, the way events occur, they were organised very well and gave root to momentum. It isn't really the content that really made the series shine, but rather the way of presenting it. It's simply amazing."

Nah Naruto is bad, it was decent thats about it i only liked it so much i guess because its the series that got me into watching anime. But i look back now and it has nothing to other series and the current manga sucks so badly. its going down hill.

By saying 'Blonde Haired Girl = Robin' it seemed like you were implying Evangelion copied One Piece, so I was just pointing out which came first. I was a little confused as to what you meant because the characters really are nothing alike, lol.

Anyway, there are many great voice actors in Eva.

Megumi Hayashibara who voiced Rei also did Faye in Cowboy Bebop.
Takehito Koyasu who voiced Aoba also did Takasugi in Gintama, Pesche in Bleach (very unexpected :O) and Luck in Baccano.
Miki Nagasawa who voiced Maya also did Helen in Claymore and Merrie in Death Note.
Fumihiko Tachiki (my favourite seiyu :8) who voiced Gendo also did Kenpachi in Bleach, Hasegawa in Gintama and has narrated many other series.

But yea VA's are good i tried to watch the dub for easyness since i was using pc aswell but the voices just annoyed me.. especially Shinji's. Hoping the FUNI one is a bit better. lol i just keep hearing bad things about bleach. and i look at the manga and even tho the characters look good. there no background in some pages and lots of face shots. and talking.. and the anime despite going back to canon the the 1st canon episode the ratings fell even more.

Got my Eva 1.11 dvd today. Looks nice ammount of extras. Strange tho i ordered from the same site as i did Gintama. Gintama shipped on the 27th and still isnt here. where Eva shipped on the 4th and got here today 7th.. took 3 days from Canada to Scotland o.O normaly have to wait 2 weeks. week if im lucky.

Anyway HD awesomeness. Going to watch it dubbed see if its better than ADV one. If not Back to sub.

Gintama dvd came today. Pretty good region locked so can't upscale it :( but i'll live. Dvd menu is basic. just the 6 options for each ep. with tiny little picture. aslong as i get the eps not bothered tho.

I feel nonlinear narrative makes things a lot more interesting. Imagine if Baccano was told in order. It just would be no where near as good as it is. Plus chronological order bunches all of the filler-like episodes together which ruined it a little for me. Maybe its just because I watched it in broadcast order first.

The anime is based on the novels. You may still be able to find them on another website though. However, if you really want to read them you might as well just buy them. Little Brown are releasing the novels over in the UK and Ireland. I would probably go as far as saying the novels are better than the anime, although the new film (The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya) was very good and I wonder how the novel will compare. Also, yes - Endless Eight sucks. Just watch the first episode, one in the middle and then the last episode. It's too late now but I wish thats what I did. -_-

I hear the Gintama DVDs actually have translation notes. That is very good news. I'm in no rush to own it though. I understand it'll probably never get a UK Region 2 release but oh well, thats what torrents are for. I don't want to buy something I won't be able to use. I do hope to purchase the soundtracks at the Expo though, even if they are fairly expensive.

When are the novels being released and I assume they are still ongoing. With the popularity the series has it wouldnt be daft to think there would be another anime series on it?
Also, one questions. Does the novel trump the manga?

The manga is pretty dire. Don't even bother with it. There are nine novels in total, the last one was released in 2007. The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya (the 10th novel) is expected to be released later this year. You can find a list on Wikipedia. And yes, Kyoani plan to continue the anime.

The first two novels are out and Little Brown are releasing the third one in July (some sources say August) and the fourth one in November. This stuff really isn't hard to find out. A simple search on Amazon or a quick look on Wikipedia will provide you with all the answers you need. I refuse to answer anything else you ask from now on. :eusa_hand

It's a Pioneer DVR 420H - here (http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/DVR-420H-S/print.html) it is on Pioneer's website, but it doesn't say anything about regions and on Amazon it says 'DVD Region - Region 2'. Other sources do say it is multi-region though... Apparently it can be upgraded to multi-region, which is probably why some sites say it is and others say it isn't.

I usually stay at a hotel because its just more convenient than travelling from home. I stay at the cheapest hotel possible (Etap) with two friends so we only spend £30 each for two nights (£45 a night). Other hotels such as the Premier Inn can cost over £100 a night and only have two beds, unlike Etap which has three. There are like six hotels near the Excel Centre all within walking distance though, so there is a lot of choice depending on your budget. Also, I don't know of any websites but they sell a ton of t-shirts at the Expo. I hope they sell a 20th Century Boys one so I can nerd it up Friend style. I don't want to have to resort to ebay.

Ah then its probably like most dvd players. push in certain numbers and then you get a menu which you can change your dvd to region 0.

2. only me that would be going down and only 1 friend online.
3. From the guests i know of atm not really that excited to go anyway.
4. One Piece strong world isnt getting played. been played in US, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, China, Korea Wheres UK Date :(

The director and producer (who is also the President of BONES) of Sword of the Stranger attended the last Expo in October and were giving out free signatures. It's not like the UK get nothing - this May must have just been and awkward time for people to attend, so the guests aren't as good as usual. I should also note that they had Elijah Wood confirmed for the Expo last October, but he had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. The Expo does have some really great people attending most times.

I think it is, if not the longest shonen series. And one piece only flys by because its awesome.

Imo its because you watch it and the way the story is you give a damn about the characters unlike other series where you have 1 2 faves and rest u dnt mind or dislike where as i cant think of 1 Character i hate or dislike since all the characters are likeable in there own way.

Like choppers back story i was like aww, and the fact that merry is considered a part of the crew is nice aswell.

And gintama has only just went on hiatus you wont hear anything this year since the movie is out atm and they have the selected re runs atm.

I'm trying to catch-up on Reborn! and the other anime then I'll go back to One Piece which I'm on Episode 185. I'm off school until 1st June when I have to go in for an exam. Pretty good. Evangelion in the cinema was absolutely mindblowing. The entire cinema was cheering, whistling and applauding when the second film finished. The atmosphere was fantastic. It is no doubt the highlight of the year for me so far. I will never forgot the experience. Sooooooooo glad I went!

Evangelion in the cinema was absolutely mindblowing. The entire cinema was cheering, whistling and applauding when the second film finished. The atmosphere was fantastic. It is no doubt the highlight of the year for me so far. I will never forgot the experience. Sooooooooo glad I went!

It wasn't the world premiere, but it was the English premiere of Evangelion 2.0. I had already seen Evangelion 1.0 at the cinema last year when I attended the Anime All-Nighter, but the experience just wasn't as good since everyone was knackered and there were multiple films being shown, not just Evangelion, so the audience were very much just general anime fans as opposed to Evangelion fans at the event I went to yesterday. Watching these stunningly high quality mindblowing films with a cinema full of Eva fans made all the difference.

Evangelion 2.0 is out on DVD in Japan in four days, on the 26th of May. Subs should show up around one week later. I highly recommend watching the films. If you didn't like the series, don't worry. That is irrelevant. One of Anno's intentions was to recreate Evangelion to be "much more understandable and accessible to non-fans than the original TV series was" so the films offer the story in a very new light. The first film is roughly the same as the first six episodes of the series, only with additional scenes, an altered climax and stunning animation. The second film, however, completely changes the story. I should also note that the action sequences at the end of both the first and second movie are some of the best I have ever seen committed to film.

To be honest, most of the popular anime series such as Naruto, Bleach and One Piece all have sucky openings as of lately. The earlier openings of all three of above were so much better. Although, another popular series that does have a current badass intro is REBORN!

I personally think Code Geass, Gintama and Death Note has the best openings in terms of consistency. Albeit Death Note only had 2, they were badass. Also Haruhi Suzumiya, Eyeshield 21, Ippo (<3 Hekireki) and TTGL also had some good catchy intros and OST. I wonder how opening songs are picked because One Piece, Naruto and Bleach currently have some terrible ones. Dont get me wrong each series has some absolute amazing openings but just as of recently they aren't very good.

Your friend is lying. Pretty much every character has turned up in the last few chapters, even very minor characters like Tatsuki, Kozenigata, Gengai, Tetsuko and Kyoushirou were blessed with a panel or two, but Takasugi and Kamui, along with the Shinsengumi, haven't shown up in ages.

Wow, check out Nodame Cantabile in there. I guess its appeal is pretty huge though. Neverthless, I couldn't really get into the manga. Since its about music the anime has the upper hand for once.

I wonder what anime series have the best sales. I know the Gintama OVA sold really well and the DVDs make a ton of money. Evangelion 2.22 is currently dominating the charts. I'm currently downloading the 720p BD version subbed by THORA. If only my computer could handle 1080p. Although its like 10gb so I'd have no where to store it considering I haven't got an external HD and my largest memory stick is 8gb. Hopefully the 720p version will fit on disc.

The Bebop boxset has been near £40 on Amazon for ages now. I too wish it would drop in price. Also, Forbidden Planet had the Trigun boxset for £24. Perhaps I should have bought it... I ALSO WISH I BOUGHT MORE FROM ADV! The UK has now lost half of its anime. I doubt anyone else is going to license all of the series and movies ADV had.
