I'd rather they were slow and not rush it like Bleach and Naruto and give us god awful fillers. OP has been doing 0.5 of a chapter to a full chapter for ages. They also add in alot of canon-filler. Unlike bleach which everytime i see the manga there just standing there with close ups talking.

Tch. Hit you hard. You're not even a fan! I read that as soon as it was translated and cried my eyes out. Satoshi Kon was and remains a hero to me and a real inspiration. Such a genuine talent and a lovely man. The anime industry lost a piece of its soul the day Satoshi Kon died, as did the film industry. Both Inception and Black Swan drew large inspiration from Satoshi Kon's works. He'll be forever missed, always admired, never forgotten.

Bandai has stopped doing Anime and Manga release.. and the Rumour is Beez is now gone aswell. >.< Gurren Lagann manga half complete =/

Anime and manga is gonna die in the west. so now in the UK there is only MVM and MANGA UK who i am now done with after there shoddy dvds and crap quality.

In US there is only Funimation, Sentai23 and MediaBlasters. Which Funi dominates and i dont like S23 for stopping Gintama =/

Most likely Uniqlo. They appear to have a few Naruto tshirts left. They did Naruto/OP/DBZ/Gundam a while ago but all are gone minues the few naruto ones. got some good ones.

For anime and manga stuff, unless you can make it to the Expo, Uniqlo is generally the best place. They had some wicked awesome Evangelion shirts a few months ago, kinda wish I bought one. Got a nice Norwegian Wood shirt from them though. Feels great displaying to the world that I have read the best novel ever written.

And of course all of the openings! I wish they'd hurry with a new season. No news since 2009 on it. The manga is almost 600 chapters ahead of the anime by now, that could easily be made into 100 episodes with no fillers. It was quite popular too so I don't see why not.

Maruyama the founder of studio MADHOUSE hasrecently acknowledged that, due to financial pressures, production on Satoshi Kon'sThe Dreaming Machinehas been stopped. If they are in depts I'm skeptical we get something Hajime no Ippo related any soon. It's not exactly the mostprofitable series. Which sucks. I am currently going through the anime again and hopefully reading all of the manga this time.

Satoshi Kon expressed worries about the production of Yume Miru Kikai after being informed of his illness, but the producers at Madhouse promised him everything would be okay and that they would complete it. If they don't, I officially hate Madhouse. I don't care what else they've done, they need the honour Satoshi Kon. It dosn't make any sense either. They've already completed half the production, half of the animation is done. I don't understand why they halted it because of financial issues, no matter how bad the ecomomy, Madhouse are still one of the largest and most successful studios out there and is there a single doubt in anyones mind that Yume Miru Kikai won't be a success? They've shot themselves in the foot. Though I guess there's a lot more than meets the eye. Still, hurry up and get on it. To be fair it took 9 years for Season 2 to be made from Season 1. I think when chapter 1000 is released it would be a perfect time toannouncesomething. It's currently on chapter 920-30 right now so it's close. With Ippo being the 11th longest running manga I think it deserves another shot. The original season remains my favourite anime of all time. Albeit as for the new content, the director of it was mean't to be the guy who's directing Hunter X Hunter now so it may be a while. Still I live in hope.

Just been re-watching Death Note again and reading the Hajime No Ippo and Naruto manga. I started on HxH and got to Episode 3. Seems interesting albeit I'm streaming the episodes and it's hard to find good streams for it.

And no. 1st anime was made by Nippon Animation, Was good but apparently the music wasn't to great. And the 2nd Series or "Reboot" is made by Madhouse which just restarts the series again with a faster pace i believe.

Kaiji is a great anime. I've yet to watch Season 2 though. Currently rewatching Ippo still and Steins;Gate. I just watch Episode 30 of Ippo and he goes to see the bone-setting Doctor. She says "Makunouchi, you're amazing!" and he looks at his penis, screams and starts punching it. It was hilarious.

I don't usually play anime games, the only Japanese game I've truly enjoyed that was anime based is the Trauma Centre series on DS/Wii by Atlus. Superb storylines (like that you'd see in an anime) and great, fun gameplay.

I'm still holding out for Funi to get ippo and sell it in a cheaper boxset. dont wanna pay £200+ each on 2 boxsets :(
Kaiji is good so far another good series which has no manga or anime in the west.
Funi has Steins;Gate so may add that to my "Buy and watch" list.

I was put of anime games like naruto and dbz because it was just the same each year just touched up graphics. And its the same story every game xD

I really enjoy Toriko. It reminds of Dragonball for some reason. It's got a very 90's shoen feel to it.

Apparently Series 3 is all about Mahjong. I guess I'll need to learn about that before I start reading the manga. The guys at MangaFox are translating it. It's on Volume 30 now on translation but in Japan it's up to 35ish. Needs to be scanlated still.

Zuko was by far the most interesting and involved character and his relationship with Iroh was done incredibly well, but to call Aang the least interesting is a bit much. He's the driving force throughout pretty much the entire first season and his guilt and anguish was displayed as well as Zuko's at some points, especially when he lost Appa. Not to mention his spirit journies and the final showdown. Aang is a total badass and way more complex than a character probably should be in a kids show. As awesome as they are, characters like Toph and Sokka are far more flat than Aang ever was.

Also, didn't Aang die when he was like 65 or something as a belated effect of being frozen in the ice? Now with everyone else gone too, Katara should just kill herself. All or nothing, I say. If they don't at least talk about Iroh in the new series I'm going to rage.

No was announced recently that was entering the last arc, which im told bleach arcs last years or something? Either way i can see Bleach Z returning near the end of the manga or when it finishes as the hype will bring back sales.

The new series is set waaaay after the old one. Everyone has died of old age. (To answer your original question.)

But I don't think they should leave it as it is. The world of Avatar is so rich it would be a shame not to revisit it. And I've never understood the mentality of the sequel somehow ruining the original film or series. The original doesn't change in any way just because something new comes out. I'm just bitter because I love the old cast so much, it's going to be difficult to adjust to a new one.

Lol no this is just of top of my head because I'm using iPhone. But total manga sales for 2011 1st was One Piece with 37.5million 2nd was Naruto with 6 million. The list is on ANN somewhere.

So about x6? And one piece total sales is last time I seen 270million making it the best selling manga ever. Naruto just broke 100million couple years back

When One Piece reached 200million a train station was covered with One Piece. And trains and shops and newspaper had 7 full page adverts in the 2nd biggest paper I think it was.

I've begun rewatching Hajime No Ippo... again. This is the sixth time now. I really don't know what I find about it so addicting. I've been getting up to date with the manga and listening to the OST constantly at the gym. I've been discussing weekly chapters over at the Dynamite Glove forums. Addiction at it's finest. I really hope MADHOUSE eventually produce another season or manly tears will be wept. The manga is good but the anime makes it so much more real. The soundtrack is also awesome.

Starts off with white lotus members entering a Water Tribe hut and asking a woman why she thinks her daughter is the new avatar.
A toddler Korra smashes into the room and proceeds to earth, fire and water bend which convinces them.
Cut to the clip of Korra doing firebending training.
Then she takes Naga, her polarbeardog, out for a run.
She goes to meet Tenzin, Aang's son, for airbending training (the one element she hasn't mastered), but he says he has to return to Republic City where he's an official.
She escapes with the help of old-Katara and hides as a stowaway in a ship to Republic City.
When she gets there she explores, can't afford food so fishes in a lake and speaks with a homeless man.
She then rescues a shopkeeper who can't afford protection money from the mob then gets chased by the metal bending police (another leaked clip).
Korra gets arrested and taken to see Chief Bei Fong, Toph's daughter, where Tenzin steps in an she is released.
Tenzin is about to send her back home but he has a change of heart and she is allowed to stay and learn airbending from him in the city.
The next day, she reveals her identity as the avatar to the public via a ceremony and radio broadcast.
The closing shot is Amon (the masked leader of the 'equalist' movement) listening in on this announcement, establishing him as the villain.

I can't remember if it's just a miniseries or if it's gonna be longer. If I had to guess I'd say just a miniseries.

As for voice actors, I don't have a very keen ear for that sort of thing so I can't say if there's anyone recycled from the first series. Tenzin is voiced by J.K Simmons (I NEED PICTURES OF SPIDERMAN) though, which is cool.

I'm sure there isn't an implication that you need to be as good at earthbending as Toph was in order to metal bend. It's probably just a case of knowing what you're doing.

As for old characters, as I say Katara appears in person and has a few lines. She mentions how 'all her old friends are dead' or words to that effect. No mention of Zuko (although he does appear in the opening on a background) but there is a brick joke about Zuko and Azula's mother. The Aang statue appears twice in episode one. It's a pretty significant landmark in Republic city.

The soundtrack is all new iirc. It has a kind of Asian-Jazz feel to it, if there ever was such a thing.

Keep in mind, what starts as a seemingly simple premise turns into an incredibly psychological story. It is very deep, very involved, and you have to be serious about it to really understand the thought and genius behind it. Also, there are two endings. The series is twenty six episodes long, and the last two episodes are from the point of view of the main characters mind. There is a film that comes after called The End of Evangelion, which displays what's happening in the real world parallel to the last two episodes. So don't forget to check that out afterwards if you watch the original series, otherwise a lot things may seem disappointing or unfinished.

I would recommend watching the new Rebuild of Evangelion films as well, though. They're stand-alone. You don't have to be familiar with the series to watch and understand them. I got to see both at the cinema and they blew my mind.

Okay, just watched both episodes of Korra and the first thing I have to say is...

MAJOR TROLLING IN EPISODE ONE!

Can't believe they teased us with Zuko's mum. Anyway, the setting seems great and the animation is really good too. Can't believe Sokka is dead though. He always seemed the most immortal. Pleased with the soundtrack and references to the past, though I'm not going to be completely satisfied until Iroh gets a mention and Aang shows up in a spirit world sequence or something like that. Glad to see the statue of Aang and what I assume was a statue of Toph as well. Also, I wonder who the new Fire Lord is. Oh, and that pro bending tournament that was introduced in episode two was amazing.

I liked that guy because I was like ZUKO INCARNATE. Damn I miss Zuko and Iroh and Aang and Toph and Sokka and Momo and Appa and even Azula and Fire Lord frickin' Ozai and that big owl. If Avatar was made in Japan there'd already be three spin-off OVAs about what happened after the world was saved. And in one of the episodes the characters would visit some hot springs. Though I'm glad it wasn't made in Japan. Korra seems like a great character, anyway. And TENZIIIIN is pretty cool. Wonder how powerful that Iron Man guy is gonna be and how he's gonna stand up to Korra is he can't bend. Also why haven't they invented guns yet.

That owl was great. Probably one of my favourite episodes. I always enjoyed the 'spiritey' episodes. Ko the face stealer was also creepy. I'd have been scared seeing them as a kid.

There was a one-off comic after set after the first series if I remember correctly but it was absolute crap.

He probs can bend. Or his head honcho can bend. Or he's a spirit bender. That would make sense: giving him the ability to remove others' bending ablities. Although they'd need to retcon spirit bending for that to fly. That said, I hope they do mention spirit bending at some point because it's still an ass-pull at this point.

Yeah, episodes like that were great. I love the whole mythology of the Avatar world. It's so rich in imagination and creativity. Koh the Face Stealer was amazing. I remember I literally raged when Shymalalananan took him out of the Avatar film. Although it's probably good they did, because they would have just ruined it further. Also, I thought the comic was related the the live action film and not the original series?

I'm not so sure about him being able to spirit bend. In the first series, it seemed like you needed some level of inner peace and air nomad-like mentality to master it. If Iron Man had that I doubt he'd be leading a rebellion. Spirit bending doesn't seem to fit his character. I imagine he'd have some new ability not yet seen, or a new take on bending, like Combustion Man. He was super powerful.

The comic may have been to do with the film, I don't know I didn't see the film. The only thing I can remember from the comic is Zuko asking Aang to kill him or something because he'd become like his father or words to that effect. Pretty sure it was crap anyway. Also Aang and Katara were in a full blown relationship which was just ughh.

Wasn't it also the case in the first series that only the avatar could spirit bend? It's been a while since I saw it. Ozai did alright though with it, just wasn't as strong willed as Aang.

But yeah it could potentially be more interesting if he can't bend. He'll be a more promising villain if he can't be defeated solely by being pummeled to the ground.

I don't know, not a lot was revealed or explicitly said about spirit bending. I would assume it is an Avatar-only kind of thing though, since they are the master of all elements and the doorway to the real world and spirit world, after all.

You should watch the film one day. First time I watched it was just to see how badly they messed up, second time I watched it one night with my best friends, and it was the most hilarious thing ever. It's such a horrible film, we tore it apart.

The new series, it's really awesome. I love Kilua and his enigmatic character. Gon is pretty awesome too, he looks really weak and so far doesn't seem powerful but his upbeat attitude kind of makes you think he has a lot to show.

The opening is pretty good but the ending is absolutely awesome! It's done by the same guys that done the Season 2 opening for Kaiji.

I don't know if you lurk on any fan forums but a lot of people have speculated that's how Kishi will end the series. He's hinted at it a bit in his interviews. If you look at the original Madara Uchicha and 1st Hokage's battle. They both died. History will repeat.

BUT THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR CALLING SOKKA SAKKA.

But yeah, I cry pretty much every time I watch that episode. Mako was and is a legend, he gave Iroh heart and soul. Greg Baldwin, the man who replaced him after his death, did a really great job though. He had a lot to live up to, and he did not disappoint. If you ever want to watch one of Mako's live-action films, I recommend The Bird People in China. It's really good.

Also... leaves from the vine, falling so slow, like fragile tiny shells, drifting in the foam. Little soldier boy, come marching home. Brave soldier boy, comes marching home. ;_;

But yeah, I cry pretty much every time I watch that episode. Mako was and is a legend, he gave Iroh heart and soul. Greg Baldwin, the man who replaced him after his death, did a really great job though. He had a lot to live up to, and he did not disappoint. If you ever want to watch one of Mako's live-action films, I recommend The Bird People in China. It's really good.

Just finished Avatar: The Last Airbender and I am genuinely saddened by the ending of a series. A truly great one at that. Albeit 'The Legend of Korra' is out now, I will still miss the witty remarks of Sokka, the wise quotes and philosophical ramblings from Uncle Iroh and just the general all around good feeling the show brings.

That is literally one of the best, most uplifting songs ever made. I posted an AMV with it in a couple of weeks back. Paprika has one of the best soundtracks ever, and Susumu Hirasawa is a genius. Although, the song isn't called Nigeru Mono. It was named wrong during the first lot of rips and it just stuck. The actual title is Meditation Field.
