I've finally collected all of the Mushi-Shi DVDs! They are quite a rare find too (all together!)
In other news my Toriko, One Piece and Evangelion shirts came today!
The first year of University is finished, it is insane how fast time has gone. It really makes you think. I've so much to improve on next year but for now time to enjoy the summer. I leave England on Wednesday for Belfast.

Yeah it's called Q-Con. It's on from the 22nd to the 24th. It's ok I guess, not many anime related events but it's good for hanging out and meeting people. Plus the game floor is always good craic, and the anime merch stands are packed with goodies.

How was it an ass-pull? It was pretty obvious this was gonna be resolved with some sort of energybending, and she'd eventually go into the avatar state. If anything, i'm glad they didn't just pull out the avatar state for the Amon fight (as they teased in the trailer). Either way though, great ending and great story. Only thing I wish was that they explained how he took people's bendings away a bit better and there was no korra/mako because I felt so sorry for Asami, but other than that, perfect.

Firstly, why they no explain how Amon take bending. Ending was a bit of an ass-pull too, but I guess it is only a kids show after all. Still, that last scene with Tarrlok and Amon on the boat. Phew. Tarrlok is my hero. Someone erect a statue of Tarrlok. Also total freak out when it was Aang standing behind Korra and not Tenzin. Oh and Zuko never showed up. I'm dying here. All in all though, this series has nothing on the first. But Amon was a fantastic villain, wish the final fight was a but more epic. It's like they didn't even try to outdo Aang vs Ozai or even Zuko/Katara vs Azula, but I guess that is insanely hard to achieve.

She'd had no connection with her spiritual side at all except for that one instance where she had a flashback as the plot demanded it. But my main issue isn't with that. It's with Aang energybending her from beyond the grave to return her bending.

A few people are saying that she got her bending back because she went into the Avatar state which counteracts bloodbending as was demonstrated in the flashback. Why should energybending undo Amon's technique? No one knows anything about it except that he used bloodbending to do it. If anyone should have been able to undo it after that revelation it should have been Katara.

It was a decent finale and I enjoyed it apart from the last two minutes. The boat scene in particular was great. You have to question whether Noatak or Tarrlok survived because if not then Nickelodeon just got away with showing a murder-suicide on a kids' show at 11:00AM.

Whilst she didn't have any spiritual connection before, that doesn't really matter. All it takes is that one point for it to "click" and that's exactly what happened. This thread (http://www.reddit.com/r/TheLastAirbender/comments/vihhn/why_the_ending_of_korra_makes_sense_a_fans/) explains it pretty well (yet more suicide!). But the thing is, that actually is cannon that he can do that. The only limitation to bending was that it can't be done in the spirit world, not that spirits can't do it. In fact, we see Roku himself in TLA destroying his own temple with bending. He also bends when talking to Aang's first fire bending teacher (Jongjong i think his name was).

As for the repairing the bloodblending with energybending, I took the bloodbending as physically blocking the chakras (as Aang's was unblocked with a physical hit in the finale of TLA, this seems possible), and afaik, energybending is also to do with the chakras and (i assume) (un)blocking them in a spiritual sense. I do agree that Katara should have been able to do something though.

As I said before though, the only thing I didn't enjoy was Makorra, and that's because of how much they screwed over Asami.

I think it's Nick acknowledging that TLA and LOK has quite a mature viewer base and adding stuff in for them. Naturally their core viewers will just think she was sad but the older will realise the meaning behind the "at your lowest" I felt that it was a really good touch

Listening to the Mushi-Shi OST last thing at night always makes me sleep. It's done by the same guy that did the original Naruto series. So oriental and peaceful. Love it.

I've been rewatching Kaiji. It has one of the best anime soundtracks ever. I even downloaded the OST.

It really points out how ugly a human can be when money is involved. Kaiji itself, as a protagonist, isn't a genius at all (unlike his counter part, Akagi), he got plenty of bad default, but can be -when needed- really sharp. You can easily find yourself emotionally attached to him; you want him to win, you share his fears, sadness, etc. It's something I haven't seen in a lot of anime. Due to that fact, I'd say Kaiji is one of the most immersive series I've seen, which is rather counter-intuitive since its artwork is far from being in the realm of realism.

Also a few days ago marked the 2nd anniversary of the legendary director Satoshi Kon. Rest in peace, Kon-san.

Damn, I just finished Akagi and decided to read the sequel manga, Ten. I went on MyAnimeList to get a brief overview and read some reviews which are usually spoiler free and right there in the description of the manga it tells you the ending plot and who dies. **** NO.

One Piece should have been top of the list but the fact you have Luffy as an avatar that makes up for it.

Not going to try to get your hopes up but there's a strong rumor that MushiShi is getting a second season late next year and a low-but-nonzero possibility of Kino's Journey getting something new animation-related in the future..
The former is based on the fact that the creators of the first season have gotten together to do a new not-yet-announced show at Artland (the company that made the first season), and the show's producer implied that it was going to be more MushiShi and would be coming sometime in next Fall.

Regarding Avril, Oda wanted her to do the cover of Bad Reputation, turns out there both fans off each other so Avril did the other song which as far as i know is only an ending theme. The real sad song is Z's song.

Well the films are usually yearly but they were always just meh, Strong World was good and Oda was the one who said they should take 2 years to perfect the story and we now have Film Z, the best selling One Piece to date.

Yes i would assume so i sadly havent watched the anime from.. start of the fight against Hodi. The pacing is getting bad i was all for making it 1 chapter per 1 episode when they added in stuff and made it work but its just boring now nothing happens. newest ep is the 1st ep in a long time. Punk Hazard tho gonna be good.

Besides My Hero Academia, I haven't actually completed an anime series in years, but I do still watch movies. Your Name, A Silent Voice, Hana and Alice, Anthem of the Heart, and The Night is Short, Walk on Girl were all really good. I do want to catch up and delve into a couple of series at some point. Mostly I read manga, though. Attack on Titan has been amazing; so much so I find it hard to return to the anime now I'm up to date with the manga. The series has come so far.

If anyone from this thread pops in at some point, give me a shout. It would be nice to catch up.

A Silent Voice is a real feat. Deserves as much praise as Your Name in my opinion. I followed the manga as it was publishing, and I generally prefer the manga version of everything, but A Silent Voice is a brilliant exception. The director did another film last year called Liz and the Blue Bird. I thought the writing and characterisation were particularly good.
