I see, it alot more realistic. The only thing that lets the game down is those pixelated art work. If you look at the plane, can you see its very pixelated and sketchy?

Depends on the video card, Mine is average, so my graphics are average, if you have a bad graphics card the graphics may look bad and sketchy. But the people who create the planes use real plane photos I think and put them in parts to create the plane but i'm not sure, so if you have the right video card you can run those graphics.

I got Flight Sim X and im impressed. Fire's are very realistic!

Only thing I have found is I only get 7.0 frame rate however on 2004 I got 20-30 frame rate. Might have been because I had 2 MSNs and the comp had been running all day :P

I used to be the same... and overall the ATC is easy to understand, once you know the lingo however the things I am finding hard is the automaticlly landing/heading thing.

+ On FSX your GPS is built into the panel and its alot easier to see the nearest airports.

Yeah it was beepiong like hell and screaming pull up and I was thinking what does pull up mean :S (It was only later on I found out you can press space and move around, which reveals about 100 more buttons :()

The trick to landing is making sure you are really slow, make sure autobreak is set to 2 and spoilers are armed (see learning center on how to do this listed under jets) and make sure you slow down by using flaps (once again under learning center) then all you have to do is glide over the runway as long as possible.

Press and hold F2 for reverse thrust then to stop it press F1.

You don't need to hold in F2..

Well I don't anyway, press it once and the reversers are on.. Like real life, you just put the reversers on you don't need to hold the throttle :S

Remember reverse thrust comes off about 60 knots, else your engines will pretty much blow up! - Same with running at full power, usually max of 10 minutes or your engines will melt.

Only wrong thing I can say is on your last screenshot, Your nose should of been pulled back to about 10 on the artificial horizon, This is called Flaring, It just gives you a smoother landing, although that is perfect you got spot on the middle :)

I download all the planes on ive been on in real life, and that Project Airbus A320 Air Canada is the best for handling, I just need a few pointes about landing as I think im missing something out...
I always seem to come in way to fast and I think I flare too early, also is it right to keep speed hold on right till near the landing, because I do to keep me at a steady speed.
Also what is locilizer hold do I need that too?

as soon as you touchdown you should press / which will activate the spoilers, you can also use them for slowing down in the air if you need them, they go up on the wing to increase drag, if you need more infromation go in wikipedia ;)

oh lol matt, unicom is where theres no atc online at the place and they write what there doing on unicom which is 122.80 so other pilots know what there doing say I was coming on final approach into Gatwick for example I would say "EGKK traffic, cleared to land rwy 24" and then you would know not to line up until I had landed. There not actually talking to atc here.

you can't say FSX is better.. for one thing.. if you have a NOT-HIGHTECH computer, your FSX will run badly which will make bad graphics, yes its got better features, but if you haven't got a top end computer 2004 is a much better game than FSX and you don't even need to download add-ons :l

But Flight Simulator is better with addons. I recently bought FSX Deluxe due to it being half priced in a shop I went into, I have to say the amount of add-on's are restricted but the game playing is better. I am considering moving back to FS2004 for the time being for more realistic as running round in Orbit Airlines doesn't really interest me. There isn't much payware stuff going either so it kinda pushes the boat out a little, however at the moment I'm glued onto the missions which are very good :)

Right ok. I was going to personally ask Adam about this as he's my FS Guru on MSN but considering he's away I thought I'd ask people on here that way I can see peoples views.

Firstly, I've been Flight Simming for around 3 years and stopped for quite a while and got back into it. All of my knowledge is off personally learning and not reading or doing any tutorials etc but their is a few things I'm struggling to understand what they mean and how they work?

It might seem my knowledge is vague, but I think I've come quite a way considering what I believe I can do on it.

Secondly is VATSIM. Is Vatsim like the multiplayer on FS2004 / FSX - I'm worried about getting on and everyone having a go, one because I am not experienced in a taxi ways off my own back and people having a good old laugh because I don't know how to speak that good to ATC as I've only recently been doing it on FSX.

So is it worth the join and can you learn a lot more from VATSIM just by being a member, does your knowledge have to be very good of flight simulators? Don't get me wrong I'm not a n00b and I know my way around most of the cockpits etc.

- Rudder controls your horizontal axis of flight (Correct me if i'm wrong)
- Altimiter 2992 means set your altimeter to 2992, The altimeter is on your instruments, just hover your mouse over the instrument and find where it says altimeter, then just click the buttons to set it, or just simply, press b.
- Vectors are what air traffic control give you which are headings, so when yoiur expeciting vectors, your expeciting heading changes to the runway.
- Sqwauk code is what atc give you or you set so that atc can identify you, you set your sqwauk code in the transponder at the bottom of your radio stack.

VATSIM is a online game which is an add-on to flight simulator. If you think everyone will laugh at you then just use text. Also, put in your remarks newbie if you wish so atc know that you are new, don't owrry atc aren't harsh (excpet dan ofcourse he is big bully :() I still use text. Don't be afraid of having a go, I was worried at first, but you do your first flight on vatsim, and your just luvin' it.

Yes it is worth joining vatsim, but most of us on vatsim also reccommend flying offline first just to get extra knowledge on fs (sorry if you do already then go for it) your not going to die are you :)

Yes, but a lot of people don't have high tech computers, thats why fs2004 can produce extremely amazing graphics, if you have the right computer.
