I had just finished a flight, 26 more people to unboard and thne I could get my fspax report. But then fs decided FS9 HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM IT HAS TO CLOSE, and i was like beep sake "/ , it was a really good landing as well i would of got like 800 points and no faults.

Has anyone ever had something like this happened to them?

Yup I have. Fs9 does tend to crash. I have had more FS9 crashes than FSX as I play both but FS9 for VATSIM! It's really annoying isn't it? But it was my fault, I recorded a video of me landing and when passengers when unboarding I decided to watch that video! I forgot it will completely move you back to the starting of your video! :(

Lol! I haven't had a flap failure....yet! Without flaps you would most probabaly stall. I have had a gear failure...where they the nose gear and the main gear on the left didn't extend. Try landing like that. I decided to make a belly landing becuase I had practiced bellys before but not 1 gear landings.

But it's not all about that I don't think. Isn't it how you do it? Smooth landings are better than crappy ones, so if you're always taking off badly, and landing badly, that's not really flying. (Not saying he can't take off or land)

You use flaps on landing and takeoff depending on the / winds / & weight of your aircraft, Ususally you shouls refer to your aircraft manual for instructions on how to vary the flaps for the craft you are flying.

Don't you just hate it? What flight simulator where you using? If you are using FS9 I have heard of problems with FS9 and Vista. Fixable problems they are! I refuse to move to Vista until the end of this year or next year.

I don't think someone could write you an exact guide which you could go by all the time. Well, here is how I learnt. Heavy aircraft like a 747, 777 and a 767 I would set 15 flaps...I've only properly flown the 747. If you have payware aircraft your FMC (Flight Management Computer) will caculate your landing speed, and the speed which flap should be at what. If it's a mega short runway set more flaps. If you set to many flaps at take off the aircraft will start lifting before Rotate (the speed at which the aircraft will take off at) and you could stall. Test around with them in free flight. Before I had a payware aircraft on take off I used to set 15 in a 747 and 5 or 10 in a 737. When on approach look at your PFD (Primary flight display, it will look somthing like this at the bottom left of your screen, http://www.b737.org.uk/pfd.jpg) and if you see the 2 pink lines that form a plus sign you can see a tiny little square where the lines meet. Try and get that on the white line between the brown and blue colours. If it is in the blue add more flaps if it is in the brown take away some flaps. This isn't really the proper way but this is how I learnt and after that you will start to learn more and know when to extend and retract flaps. :)

Early today well at 1am i took big leap to learn how to fly so first of all we tryed going EGGP to EGNS but we had some noob control who got .wallop

Its challenging if you arn't the best at like GFX design. But you get the models paint kit, and basically paint it. Say you get pictures of the plane you need, and take bits from it etc.

well ive never done it before, but from www.projectopensky.com (http://www.projectopensky.com) you can get paintkits which come with models panels and sounds, you just repaint the textures i think, and then you just put the plane into the aircraft folder. [CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG PLS]

Today, I decided to do a short hop with fspax, Sydney - Canberra Virgin blue 737-700 all going well until I put my gear down and it didn't lock, so I had to do an emergency landing. The fspax box isn't there because I ended then did instant replay :]

1. VATSIM is an online multiplayer where you connect, and in many places ATC is online. You then basically act like in the real world. Which adds alot of realism.

2. If you have a really good PC, FSX. But if you dont have such a good one, FS9

3. Joystick. And if you want, addons.

You need Squawk box to go on VATSIM. You can download on their site. You can use the keyboard, but it isnt at all as much fun.

Ok. First of all grab your self a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 once you have installed that go to www.vatsim.net/prc (http://www.vatsim.net/prc) and read that guide including the nav bars on the left. Then go back to main page on www.vatsim.net/prc (http://www.vatsim.net/prc) and at the bottom click join now and go through that. You will then be given a password and a user ID, use them to log into Squawkbox (I'll get on to that). The user ID is somtimes refered to by 'CID'. Next thing you want to do is go to www.squawkbox.ca (http://www.squawkbox.ca) and download Squawkbox. Follow the guide on their website to install it and set it up. Make sure you have a joystick or a yoke to! Once you have done that post back here and I'll get you through the next steps. :) I suggest getting a cheap joystick or yoke to start with as you may not get into flight simulator.
