Lets be honest. If you think you'll be better than everyone and you're the smartest, you can wave your career in aviation bye bye. Don't be such a *****, and realise that you should help them instead of trying to make yourself feel smarter. Would you like to ask a captain if you can visit a cockpit, then he starts firing thousands of smart *** questions about how to fully operate a CAT III ILS landing? No you wont. He'll be more than willing to help you and get you into aviation. Pilots aint stuck up idiots, they help as many people as possible. Start at a young age, then you'll have an appropriate attitude to work as at team when you're seeking a job with an airline / organisation.

I'm sure, with all my real life experience I know how to land a plane correctly by now - A good landing is one you walk away from, a perfect landing is one when you can use your aircraft again.

It really does matter what runway you land on though, having a 20 knot tailwind up your **** on final would cause complications.. I really cannot be bothered to explain why, to cut a long story short its all about the wind flowing over your wings and dramatic increases of speed on finals.

270/03 knots could be any runway, depends on the airfields prefered.. East or west is fine, less than 5 knots so it hardly makes a difference.

I'm sorry if that sounded big headed, but heh.. If you want to fly on VATSIM where real life proceedures are followed, you need to know this stuff - If you want to fly in real life, you need to know this stuff.. If you dont wish to do any of the above, do it as you please, your not hurting anybody.

I prefer for my VATSIM experience to be as real as possible, which most of the time it is. It's good to come back from a flying/solo lesson and then practice what you've learnt on VATSIM....

At the end of the day, when it comes to real world it's all about teamwork.. You cannot be arguing whoes doing it right or wrong, if one makes a mistake you simply point it out and correct them. I would ask for police on arrival if somebody started arguing with me saying I'm doing it wrong etc etc and didn't correct me or whatever - It's called endangering the safety of an aircraft - So I agree, if any of you actually seriousally want a carrer in aviation, grow up and stop arguing amongst each other.

Anyway, even in a PA28 when I fly with an instructor, do you think we go through breifings before departure and then more in the air, discuss what we're doing for the landing so we're both fully informed?

Correct, we certainly do.. We both need to be aware of what each other intends to do, even instructors can get things wrong - I've had to correct my instructor on a few occasions, to which I've been thanked - It's teamwork, you've got to look out for each other.. Remember, your working together, as technically us lot should be.. Not against each other!

If the airport is East midlands 27 would be in use Don't know about heathrow but I think it is 27 aswell.

Personally I think PC Pilot is rubbish.. I bought it in January in Manchester Airport and got bored after the first 3 pages.. It's full of useless reviews!

Anything more than 5 then yes, it would be 27. East Midlands preferred runway is 27 anyway.

Like Humberside, if the winds are for example 030/03 knots we'd use 21.. Despite the fact we have Runway 03. And, if winds are like 240/40 knots, 21 would be active but GA aircraft would get a choice in either 27 or 21 :)

Anyway, after seeing the last thread, i've decided i won't disown flight simulator (god i sound like an idiot there :P) and buy FSX Acceleration.

I've installing FSX on my current comuter (256mb onboard GFX, 1gb RAM, 1.73ghz, 1mb cache, 570mhz bus speed or somit) and it's TERRIBLE (although i guessed it would be.

Do you think it will run well on these specs.

2GB RAM
3.06ghz, 2mb cache, 800mhz bus speed processor
Nvidia 800GT 512mb GFX card.

I think it will as they're decent specs for a budget system (got processor for £80).

Yes it will definantly run it. You have the top end of graphics cards there and the memory is more than enough to run FSX. The processing shouldn't really be a problem especially because it has a 2mb Cache instead of just a 1mb cache. £80 for a processor can purchase a pretty high end processor in todays markets.

AMD 64 X2 2.51ghz duel core processor
2gb Ram
512mb nVidia 8600GT

And tbh FSX runs total rubbish, yes 20fps or so.. But once you turn the settings up, although you do get 20fps it crashes and stuff.

So yeahh, FS9 ftw.

All FSX has got is better graphics I believe the physics engines are the same or near enough.

FS9 would run better and I'd go with that so you could have the settings on full and just get a few scenery addons.
