Ok, i have two questions atm :P

1. I know on FSX there are airport viechles, but i've seen on peoples screenshots like LSG skychefs or w/e, and like yellow jeeps at edge of runways on taxiway and the dispatcher standing at front landing gear, how do i get this, on FSX?
2. How to people get angles like in front of engine etc, is there a programme, if so could someone PM me thread on WoS or something ;)

Many Thanks

According to a commercial pilot it's actually easier to takeoff an A319 than a Traumahawk and a Warrior :eusa_danc

Then again, when was the last time you heard of a wingdrop 10ft above the ground in a A319 haha.

Yeah, a A319 captain for BMI told me that once. The Traumahawk controls feel like you are pulling a big fat woman around lol. Nice aircraft, though!

If you ever get the chance to be at the controls of a Bell 206L, do it. It's so smooth and just feels like you're controlling it in Flight Simulator. It's a brilliant helicopter!!

Flight sim X should only be used if you have immense CPU power and a top end graphics card. FS2004 (or FS9, as its also known as) should be used if you dont have the requirements for FSX :D

You don't have to sit online all day to see BB fully manned. At peak times, look over at BB and there is a good chance it will be.

1. FS2004 uses AES, Airport Enhancement Services, they are currently developing an FSX version.

2. You need something like DBS Walk and Follow, im not sure if FSX has an equivalent though.

You don't want the slowest approach or you're at high risk of stalling. Airlines don't have cash flowing out of their mouths to put wherever they want. There simply isn't any point at all in using 40 degrees of flaps. The max amount you should ever use is 30.

This add-on features the famous single engine, two-seater GA aircraft, the Katana DA-20. Here, the PC-Pilot is given the opportunity to enjoy a realistic simulation of this aircraft including true flight dynamics and aircraft sounds. FS2004 version included

The famous two-seater aircraft for Flight Simulator!
The Diamond DA20 Katana is a light, 2-seat aircraft, although intended for flight training, it is a great airplane for sightseeing. The Katana features are safety, easy handling, performance, it is quiet and good value at a reasonable price. The software simulates the DA20-80 with a Rotax 912 F3 engine, and the DA20-100 powered by the Rotax 912 S3. We directed our attention to realism, but also to the atmosphere of this special airplane. So get into the pilots seat, fly it, feel it, and experience features you have never seen before!

The realistic flight models hold the following features:

Realistic flight dynamics (climb rates, air speed, fuel consumption and handling)
Realistic soundsets taken from recordings on the real aircraft
GMAX model
Exact animations of the cowling, gear and flaps
Five different liveries
Accurate panel with pilots-and copilots view
Large, and very readable instruments
Complete simulated Avionics
Highly detailed virtual cockpit
Knee board with extensive documentation

I have a joytick.

So, how to I get the planes like easyjet and Thomas cook and other airlines like that. I go to Free Flight, Then theres only a small selection there :(

Secondly,

I took this from Dj-Simpsons post, how do I start at terminals and stuff like that, I automatically start at the runway.

And lastly, how do I get that small red box up telling you:

Seatbelt Sign: On/Off
Passengers On Boards:
Passangers with seatbelt on:
Passanger Satifaction:

Thanks,

Today on a quiet Sunday morning. Myself and Tom fancied doing a flight, so we need a long haul. A transatlantic flight from London Heathrow, Terminal 5 to Boston. The flight was quite smooth, some part was a bit windy and while I was looking my plane shot up to 40,000ft from 33,000. Don't know if that was the weather or an FS issue, but that went ok.

Bare in mind that as much as I love airports and flying, I'm terrible with Flight Simulator. All I want to do is fly a simple flight and land safely. None of this "your flaps are too high" or "use the VOR navigation instead" ;)

Basically what I do is start on the runway, get permission from ATC to take off etc. Turn off the parking brake, then simply turn the throttle up to 3/4 full, and pull back on the joystick. Occassionally I will put the flaps up to 10 because I remember reading that before. Ok, so I've taken off. Now I make sure where you can switch from NAV and GPS, that it is on GPS. Fine, I put on Autopilot master switch, Autothrottle and the NAV button on. Then it seems to guide itself to the flight plan well. Now as I approach my destination I announce my landing intentions to the ATC and then put the frequency of the runway in NAV1 and NAV2 and press the ID button. Now at this point I've tried staying on GPS, and it just turns randomly but keeps going and missing where I want to be. So I try switching to NAV, I thought that would make sense considering I have just put the runway in NAV1 and NAV2. Now ATC ask me if I'm cleared to land, great I'm getting close. But then it never actually lines up with the run way and either goes round in circles or onwards.

Bare in mind I've probably done about 1000 things wrong, but this is good progress for me! I only want to know how to get it me to line up with the runway instead of going round in circles.

cocaine
21-07-2008, 05:57 PM
After you put the ILS frequency into NAV1 and NAV2 are you in the glideslope/localizer range? The glideslope guides you down, and the localizer guides you towards the centerline - you should be within the range for it to work. Only press ID (I think you said ID, otherwise its VOR LOC and then APP) to establish on them :P

Imagine an invisible line that runs on the runway heading, for both runways. The line in which you have to line up to to land. You should be pretty close to this line to have any chance of your autopilot recognising the frequencys you've entered. Once it has recognised it, if you've set the autopilot on the right settings, your plane should turn and line its upself on this 'line' and guide your plane down. You can check on your GPS to see if you're pretty close to this line.

Yeah, but those errors don't happen so much in real life on a London station and yeah, not as close as that. I think that VATSIM controller must have been away patting his dog or something those weird people always do. :8

Right, i've not played fs in a bit, but, if i remember correctly, the easiest way to teach me how to land great, is when you do that, theres a thing on the menu which like makes squares for you to glide through [other forum members help meout here cos i 4got] and that just makes squares on the glidslope for you to do it manually, u just go through the squares and land, and once you've got the hang of it, you can do it without the squares :) thats the way i taught myself..

If your having a problem lining up, in FSX In ATC when your in the airports landing pattern connect to their tower, then after you have reuested landing it says something like Find route or something similar that tells you 1'o clock 5 miles or 11'o clock - 11'oclock meaning you have to turn right then the airport is 5m away.

It may say 12'oclock meaning your on track :)

Lols, I think your meant to be on 12'o clock so you need to turn left to get on 12 o'clock to be online with runway :)

yeah, sam said earlier "yeah its flight sim" to my question :P

did you just stick the plane infront of the scenery?

Scania
22-07-2008, 05:58 PM
Its not just about sticking the plane in a picture and making it look real, theres things to be done. Example the base of the aircraft was darkened, it was embossed a little to make it 'in there' as it were. Other things aswell like Diffuse Glow, the engine smoke, condensation in the engines etc.

So only the actual aircraft is FS?

Were not here to make enemies, but on the FSX Manual it tells you something about baggage carts if I remember rightly.

You obviously didn't search hard enough;

google - 'FSX: XL Airways'

Yes, I found it evetually. I have read my 'Insider Information' but can't find the baggage info :( I will try searching online. But if you could share a page number I would appreciate it :)

Don't go out of your way though.

I need to know I'm going to get this, build it myself but I don't know what would have the best graphics and experience.

The peices I've already ordered.

4GB Ram
P5Q Watercooled Motherboard
600GB HHD
Nvidia Geforce 9800
Quadcore ProcessorBut is FSX or FS2004 better?

Not sure about the graphics card. But I can tell you know 4GB ram and the processor will do you fine. Depends what you want, most of us here use FS2004 because of major downloads and its easier to fly on VATSIM with it. But its up to you.
