I am currently downloading the FSX trial at the moment, but was wandering what I could use it on?

For example would it work on a XPS laptop?

FSX is the newest and better version but runs well on hardly any PCs, you may get away with it just on an XPS laptop :P

you'd be better off trialling FS9 or flight simulator 2004 (same thing, just diff names)

A while back i received FSX because it was on discount, without a Joystick i struggled to fly for any length of time more than 2 minutes. Last friday my Mum finnally bought me a Joystick and I have managed to gain the skills required to fly missions (Not that great, but bear in mind I hadn't completed one before then), anyway I decided to take a picture today and touch it up a little, it was on my laptop so the quality is a bit iffy, sorry. The picture is from the 'Telluride Landing' mission, a very scenic mission.

I think after messing around in PS I probably made it worse, ah well.

im new to flight sims and I got just installed flightgear. so far I've been working with a Cessena 172 and a Boeing 707. I learned how to start up, taxi, and takeoff with both, but I always have trouble controlling the plane. I can never seem to balance the plane. Even if the wings are balanced and the ball in the balance meter (or whatever it's called) is centered, the plane always drifts towards another direction. Any tips or anything you think I might be doing wrong?

Also, how on earth do you successfully land a plane? Even using google earth's flight simulator, which is relatively easy to use, I can never seem to line up the plane with the runway.

Any help is appreciated.

Well I've used both, and to me I prefer FSX, and damn I use it on a crappy laptop, and still works.

With your new PC it will handle both X and 9, but I would say go for FSX, as Tawm/Mr. Android/Recursion +a few more names to the list (:P) says, you won't be disappointed with FSX.

Anywhos, FSX has a whole new physics and world mapping system over FS2004, also you get fully clickable virtual cockpits, much much nicer graphics etc in FSX.

not really, if you play it online you'd have to learn the basics and such. but offline its pretty much just throttle and control.

PMDG don't announce release dates. Hence why Aerosoft have learned that mistake as their Airbus X Extended has still not been released even though they said it would like 1-2 months ago.

Yeah I remember that it was Avsim, I can't remember the outcome of that if they restarted or recovered?

You don't really see the issue with the Avsim loss of data. Considering most of it was probably pre-FSX. I know at the start there was a lot of error messages about files being missing but that isn't really an issue now.

F1 would have made the engines go to idle and manual braking was applied which didn't slow the aircraft down at all. It's a bug with the add-on as the controller even talked about it on the freq and the plane behind me has the same exact issue ;)

I wouldn't say that is the case any more. Any current developer of addons for Flight Simulator are now only creating their products for FSX - It's very rare you see developers create FS9 products these days. There's still a few out there but for people like PMDG and so on then it's FSX only.

I only have FSX installed.
